I Led the Entire Village out of Poverty and to Prosperity

Tiger Mountain Village, a provincial-level poverty-stricken village, had worn out three successive poverty alleviation cadres, yet it still maintained a stagnant attitude.

After a continuous ...

Chapter 69: Let's talk about it

This is the first time I’ve published a single chapter for this book. I don’t know what to say for the moment, so I’ll just chat with my readers.

When I first started talking to the editor about the subject matter of the new book, I thought of many ideas, but they were all rejected one by one.

Either it was not interesting enough, or I didn’t feel motivated enough. At the end of the conversation, the wise editor had an idea (actually he was fed up with my nagging), so why don’t you just write what you want to write most!

What I want to write most...

I thought about it for a long time, but this thing is not something that can be figured out just by sitting there and thinking. If I could figure it out by just thinking about it casually, I wouldn't have come to this point.

So I just do something else to relax. Don't get me wrong, just exercise, watch TV or a drama or something like that.

Then, a relative in my hometown happened to have a big event and was holding a banquet, so I went back to my hometown which I hadn’t been back to for more than ten years, and suddenly I felt something touched.

I also come from the countryside and spent my childhood and primary school in the countryside. Although those memories are long gone, they are still vivid.

But this time when I went back, I was really surprised to see the changes in the village.

The flat and clean cement road leads directly to the doorstep, and the buildings gathered together look like a small market.

Every house has everything you need, including TV, sofa, tap water, natural gas, water heater, computer, and WiFi.

The village no longer has only a barefoot doctor, but also a health station;

There is no longer just one small shop with iron railings, but two in the supermarket.

There is no need to say more. I believe everyone has seen the development and changes in rural areas across the motherland over the years.

Fortunately, the familiar little mound is still there (yes, the little mound where Huo Qianli often thought about life in the book).

I drank a little wine that day and walked there alone. I sat there for a long time, and the idea in my mind became stronger and stronger.

Or, just write these down?

Write about how this once remote and backward village has developed step by step to its present state?

Then various doubts arise:

Do you have enough ability to write?

What I want to write is an online article, which wins by its story. Will anyone read this kind of subject matter?

How to design the plot considering the changes spanning more than ten years?

Is anyone interested in how those seemingly empty policies can take root and bring about change in an area?

......

After returning from my hometown, I reviewed it again and had more and more self-doubts, but surprisingly, the urge to write became stronger and stronger!

So I talked to the editor.

Unexpectedly, after thinking for a while, the editor actually voted in favor.

So the final vote count was: emotional approval, rational opposition, and editorial approval, 2:1.

Write!

Not only that, my dear editor also worked with me to design the plot, divide the volumes, and reminded me of the creative red lines that need to be avoided, etc. (those who understand will understand).

The result is this slightly different book.

After polishing nearly ten beginnings, I finally finalized it.

Before publishing the book, I actually still felt a little guilty. After all, I was far from being so indifferent to my grades and income. The editor said speechlessly, "Why don't you change your username?"

I thought about it, looking at the freshly soaked oatmeal in the bowl in front of me, and watching the newspaper seller in the group wailing that the beginning of his new book was rejected again (really, he didn’t slack off, he was working hard on his new book).

So, I got my current pen name.

......

Creating from scratch is bleak. For the first tens of thousands of words, I only had a dozen collections every day, and sometimes even in the single digits.

I even had self-doubt at one point. After all, this subject matter is still too unpopular, and I really don’t know whether readers will buy it.

But I still have to persevere. I have to keep writing about the topic I have chosen, even if it means crying.

The number of words gradually increased, and the data gradually improved. There could be two to three hundred collections a day, more comments, recommendations, and monthly tickets, and I gradually got rid of the embarrassment of single-machine writing.

There are also some big guys who have generously given me rewards. I won’t thank them one by one here, but I will thank them all later.

It’s so miserable now, 180,000 words in total.

Oh, no, that’s not right. The chapter I just posted has 190,000 words and it’s almost on the shelves. My trial push is finally here!

Test the waters!

The first one!

One hundred and ninety thousand words!

My mentality almost collapsed!

My dear readers are all laughing at me for being short. Actually, I used to be tall, but now I am not young anymore and my energy is limited.

However, given the situation and how it has come to this, it would be unreasonable not to fulfill the promise!

For every fifty monthly tickets, one more chapter will be added! (Note: the monthly tickets automatically generated by daily updates are not counted.)

We are currently at Chapter 49. Based on reader voting, we will simply add another chapter!

So, there are two more chapters today!

Qidian’s current recommendations are all based on big data, with very little human intervention. Whether it can take off depends on whether we can get good recommendations in the next two weeks.

Therefore, if readers think that this book is worth reading, Mai Pian would like to shamelessly ask for your support.

Next, I will write the story and everyone will watch it.

Thank you everyone!

Love you all!
