Qi Huanhuan took off the panda-shaped water bottle slung across her shoulder. It was lifelike, small, and very cute. Every time they went out, Guan Zhizhi would prepare such an adorable water bottle for Qi Huanhuan. Among all the cartoon water bottles, this was Qi Huanhuan's favorite. Now, in order to help the tadpole find its dear mother, she generously offered up the water bottle.
The two little ones, dressed in pretty clothes, had no eyes for the tadpoles and for their clothes. They rolled up their trousers and stepped on the pebbles in the stream, creating eddies that rippled in circles. Some of the bolder tadpoles swam to their feet and then quickly swam away.
The tadpoles in the stream seemed to be playing a game with them, sometimes swimming far away and disappearing from sight, and sometimes playfully dangling in front of them.
Chu Chu put her hand in the water and didn't move it. Once the tadpoles entered her palm, she immediately caught them. This method was much faster than grabbing them randomly with both hands.
Qi Huanhuan and Chu Chu would get excited for a while every time they caught a tadpole. Having learned their lesson the first time, they were much more careful this time. They gently opened the bottle with their palms facing the opening, and the tadpoles "slipped" into the bottle.
Having caught several, Chu Chu and Qi Huanhuan felt a sense of accomplishment and developed a "great sense of mission." They caught all the tadpoles in the stream, leaving no one behind, to help them find their mothers.
"Little tadpoles, little tadpoles, don't be afraid! Huanhuan and I are here to help you find your mommy. We're all good little darlings, we won't eat you!"
"Chuchu, the tadpoles don't understand us~~~" After saying that, the tadpoles in the stream scurried away even faster in a clump. Qi Huanhuan reached out and scooped up a whole nest of them.
Chu Chu held the water bottle in both hands. Tadpoles were playing in the water. She tilted her head and grinned as she saw Lin Muze standing on the edge of the paddy field. Feeling a great sense of accomplishment, she excitedly waved her arms, showing off the bottle in her hands. "Brother Muze, look! Tadpoles! So many tadpoles! Chu Chu is going to help the tadpoles find their mother!"
Finally, when Chu Chu noticed him, a slight smile appeared on Lin Muze's cold face, and he softened considerably. He walked over carrying a bunch of yellow-skinned fruits. "Chu Chu, Huan Huan, you two are great. I asked an uncle for some fruit for you. Stop playing for now and go eat some fruit by the stream."
"Yay! Yay!"
Guoguo, a little yellow fruit she'd never seen before, meant more delicious treats!
Chu Chu, clutching the bottle, lay on the edge of the stream, one chubby little leg dangling over the edge, the other foot in the water. She twisted her little body and climbed up, her pink outfit soaking wet and stained a bit gray, but she didn't care at all.
Lin Muze found a small patch of grass and put the fruit down. He was about to pick up Chu Chu when he heard a "plop" and Chu Chu sat down in the water. The bottle with the cap off also fell into the water, and dozens of tadpoles made a frantic escape.
Qi Huanhuan, who had just climbed onto the cement slab by the stream, stared with her big, bewildered eyes: "..."
What's going on?
The tadpoles... have run away again?
Chu Chu sat in the water, soaking wet. The little yellow flower in her hair drifted away on the stream as she fell in, its petals floating on the surface. "...Ahhhhhhh~~~"
A pitiful little voice burst out, "My little flowers!!! And those naughty tadpoles, they ran away again~~~"
She's just a baby. She's just a kind little darling trying to find a mommy for the tadpoles. She's just being kind, really kind. Why treat her like this?
Why?!
Unable to bear the injustice, the meat bun burst into tears again!
