I transmigrated into a book, becoming a money-grubbing relative in the female lead's family.
My money-grubbing mother, through moral manipulation, made me join the male lead's company...
Gu Rongqi led her upstairs into the audio-visual room. Cheng Qicai saw the setup of the audio-visual room and felt inexplicably familiar with it, but after thinking about it carefully, she realized it was probably just her imagination.
After all, she couldn't possibly have come to this place.
"Which one do you want to watch?" Gu Rongqi handed her the remote control.
Cheng Qicai flipped through the menu and saw some recently released movies. She chose a comedy.
Seeing that Gu Rongqi was still standing, she asked, "Do you want to watch it together?"
Gu Rongqi sat down on the sofa.
She then asked, "By the way, should we invite Brother Gu to come along?"
"Never mind him, he's playing with the golden bean."
Hearing Gu Rongqi say this, she turned her attention back to the movie. She could only say that this movie lived up to its Spring Festival release status, as it was quite funny.
Cheng Qicai laughed uproariously from time to time as the actors made exaggerated physical movements and the nonsensical plot design. She subconsciously reached out to grab some snacks from the table.
It wasn't until she grabbed some air that she realized this wasn't her home. She glanced furtively in Gu Rongqi's direction, and seeing that he wasn't paying attention to her, she quickly withdrew her hand.
The person next to him pursed his lips.
The interplay of light and shadow in the dim environment made the joy obvious.
Gu Rongqi bent down to pour himself a glass of water from the table, then turned to Cheng Qicai and asked, "Want some water?"
Cheng Qicai had been laughing for so long and felt a little thirsty, so she nodded.
Gu Rongqi poured her a glass of water and pushed it towards her. As if remembering something, he took out some snacks from the cabinet under the table. "Here are some snacks. You can eat them if you want to watch a movie."
"Okay, thank you." Seeing that there were potato chips inside, Cheng Qicai took a bag.
The potato chip seal was torn open from both sides, and Cheng Qicai handed it to Gu Rongqi, "Want some?"
"Need not."
Seeing his refusal, Cheng Qicai withdrew her hand, took out a potato chip, and with a "crunch," the fragrant and slightly sour taste spread in her mouth.
The quality of this movie has improved a bit now; it would be even better if there was a bottle of Coke on it.
"Hey bro, what movie are you watching?"
Just as they were engrossed in watching, Gu Liji pushed his wheelchair in. He looked at the type of content playing on the screen, and then at Gu Rongqi sitting next to Cheng Qicai. His gaze froze for a moment.
"A comedy movie," Cheng Qicai said, pushing the snacks in front of him. "Brother Gu, have some snacks."
"Aren't these his snacks?" Gu Liji was about to ask Cheng Qicai how she found his snacks when he saw Gu Rongqi looking at him.
Gu Liji immediately fell silent.
But the doubts in your mind will grow bigger and burst, just like bubbles rising into the air.
You see, his brother doesn't really like him eating snacks here. He always complains that he leaves snacks on the sofa, and after he finishes watching a movie, he'll call someone to clean the sofa again.
So… Gu Liji’s gaze swept over Gu Rongqi until their eyes met, at which point he put away his own thoughts.
Cheng Qicai, oblivious to everything, watched the entire movie without noticing anything unusual about the two people next to her.
Gu Rongqi turned on the lights in the home theater, and Cheng Qicai stood up and twisted her waist to relieve her numb body.
The movie was turned off, and the sound of claws scratching at the door came from outside. As soon as the door was opened, Golden Bean immediately circled around their feet, whimpering.
I don't know how long they've been digging for the door outside.
Poor thing!
Cheng Qicai, feeling soft-hearted, squatted down, removed the crooked afro decoration from its head, and gently patted its head.
“Seven Colors, would you like to come with me to see its doghouse?” Gu Liji suddenly suggested.
"Okay." She was still quite curious about what a rich person's doghouse was like.
Gu Liji pushed his wheelchair and led her into a room. There was a small, movable door at the bottom of the door, clearly for Huang Jindou's convenience.
Upon opening the door, Cheng Qicai saw many pet toys, as well as a sofa, slide, and hammock.
“Look, there are still a lot of clothes in here,” Gu Liji opened the wardrobe. “But the solid-colored clothes on top were all chosen by my brother. They’re so dull and boring. The ones on the bottom row are the ones I chose. They’re much more interesting for Huang Jindou to wear.”
Holy crap, the golden bean is amazing!
Looking at the closet full of clothes, Cheng Qicai sighed that Huang Jindou was truly lucky.
I really want to push it out and move in myself.
Humans are worse than dogs, it's infuriating!
Golden Bean picked up a small bear from its toy and started munching on it near her leg. Cheng Qicai noticed the name tag on the side of the bear and her eyelids twitched.
Young Master Dou, what have I done to deserve you circling around my legs!
Gu Liji pressed further, "Cheng Qicai, who do you think has better taste, me or my brother?"
Cheng Qicai's envious gaze was still fixed on the dog. She wondered why he had asked about this. "Uh... Gu Rongqi is the owner of Golden Bean, so this must be based on the owner's taste."
Gu Liji saw through her attempt to please both sides and directly called her out, "Come on, tell the truth, my brother isn't here."
Cheng Qicai sighed helplessly, "Then, based on my preferences, I would definitely prefer your style, Brother Gu."
Gu Liji said meaningfully, "Really? Then what do you think of my brother? Is he as I described him, with a completely different personality from us, not the same kind of person?"
Cheng Qicai wondered why Gu Liji was suddenly talking bad about Gu Rongqi. It was just a difference in taste in dog clothes, it shouldn't have come to this extent, right?
Just as Cheng Qicai was about to speak, Gu Rongqi pushed open the door and said to them, "Dinner's ready."
The group went downstairs to have a meal at the restaurant.
Ever since Gu Liji asked her that inexplicable question in the dog room, she's always felt that there's something off about his gaze.
