I glanced at the dead Zhao Hua, not knowing what to say.

The wound on his wrist must have been from when we separated from Sister Jing. I remember that was the only time he came into contact with zombies. The rest of the time he stayed with us and wasn't attacked by zombies.

"Sigh, if I had seen it sooner, maybe he wouldn't have died."

Fei Lichao patted me on the shoulder, "There are no 'what ifs' anymore. Let's go in and see if there are any windows."

"Um."

I nodded, but didn't rush in. Instead, I glanced at Zhao Hua's hand and noticed a wedding ring on his left ring finger. I took it off and put it in my pocket.

When I run into Zhang Zhihao and the others later, I'll give them this ring.

I said something and went into the processing room with Fei Lichao.

The strong stench of decay made us both frown.

"Damn, it stinks!" Fei Lichao cursed.

We checked the other rooms, but apart from zombies and rotting flesh, we didn't see any way out. We even opened the cold storage room, but the overwhelming smell almost made us vomit, so we had no choice but to leave.

Leaving the stinking deli section, I saw some beer on the shelf next to me, grabbed two cans, and tossed one to Fei Lichao.

I opened the seal and took two big gulps. The stench in my nasal cavity was instantly washed away by the taste of beer, and I felt much better.

There were no zombies around. The two of us sat here, turned off our flashlights, and silently drank our beer, saying nothing to each other.

After a long while, Fei Lichao cursed, "This supermarket is way too damn big! We've been looking for so long and we can't even find a single window!"

After finishing my beer, my stomach felt a little cold, and I said helplessly, "Actually, it's not that the supermarket is too big, it's just that we're not familiar with this place, so we can only wander around aimlessly in this godforsaken place."

"Annoying!" Fei Lichao crushed the can in his hand and threw it away.

The moment Fei Lichao threw the can, he realized his action was a bit abnormal! Throwing a can elsewhere might be acceptable, but where was he? This was a supermarket! A supermarket full of zombies! The crisp sound of that can being thrown would definitely echo throughout the entire supermarket!

The sound of the can hitting the ground came instantly, and it even bounced twice on the ground.

I turned on the flashlight, and my scalp tingled.

"Are you crazy?!" I snapped.

Fei Lichao was stunned, looking completely bewildered. I guess he must have been too flustered just now to notice.

"Awooo—Awooo—Awooo—"

In an instant, the supermarket, which had fallen silent, seemed to come alive again, with roaring sounds coming from all directions.

I swallowed hard, and suddenly realized that I was not far from death.

"Awooo!" The roar of the zombies came from afar, and more and more footsteps were getting closer.

It's obvious they're all heading this way.

I stared at the aluminum can that Fei Lichao had tossed a short distance away, my brow furrowed, when suddenly an idea struck me. That's it! We could do it this way!

The moment Fei Lichao heard the zombies' roars, he grabbed me and said, "What the hell are you standing there for! Run!"

I grabbed Fei Lichao's hand and said, "Don't worry! I have a way to get out!"

Fei Lichao's eyes widened in surprise. "A solution? You have a solution! What solution? Tell me quickly!"

I laughed and said, "It's a very simple method; I just figured it out myself."

"Then why the hell are you keeping me in suspense? Hurry up and tell me!" Fei Lichao was extremely anxious, after all, there were zombies all around!

I said, "I just noticed that these zombies move very slowly in the dark. If there's no noise, they probably won't even move! So, I'm going to lure all the zombies in the supermarket here!"

Fei Lichao looked at me, completely bewildered again, as if he were listening to gibberish.

Looking at his expression, I knew he must be internally screaming with frustration.

Leading all the zombies here would be suicide, wouldn't it? That's probably what he was thinking.

I continued, "I have a reason for doing this. Since these zombies will move when they hear a noise, we'll deliberately create some noise to lure them all here! Then, we'll hide behind the deli counter. The counters there are all connected, so all we have to do is lure the zombies here..."

"Awooo!" I was only halfway through my sentence when a zombie appeared next to the shelf and pounced on us.

Fei Lichao swung his knife and killed the headless zombie.
