Chapter 240 Lu Jing (Part 4)

(Second update! Today's 6,000-word update is here. Take your time reading.)

The moment the blue iron gate opened, Lu Jing ran inside without thinking. The man followed behind her, naturally not daring to fall behind. As soon as he stepped inside, Lu Jing quickly closed the iron gate.

Bang!

Outside the door, a zombie slammed against it with a dull thud!

Thump thump thump—

Before long, more and more zombies crashed into the door. Even through the iron door, Lu Jing could clearly hear the roars of the zombies outside!

In the pitch-black room, Lu Jing and the other man dared not make a sound, for only in this way could they escape the pursuit of the zombies outside.

Lu Jing knew very well that the zombies outside would disperse once they were sure there was no movement inside the door. As long as the two of them stayed still inside the house, there would be no problem.

"Awooo!" The zombies outside roared incessantly.

"We're finished," the man said dejectedly. "We're really finished..."

"Shh! Don't talk!" Before he could finish speaking, Lu Jing interrupted him.

The man ignored her, muttering unintelligible words, and plopped down on the ground against the wall. The knife in his hand clattered to the ground, and the zombies outside became agitated again.

Lu Jing stared at the man, feeling very angry. He had been making things worse from the beginning, and she would have left long ago if she hadn't been reluctant to leave him behind.

The reason he's stuck in this wretched place is because he's too slow!

Lu Jing frowned, still not daring to move. The zombies outside became agitated again because of the man, their roars were louder and louder, and the sound of the iron gate being hit was also louder.

After an unknown amount of time, once the house fell silent, the zombies outside also quieted down.

The roars gradually subsided, and no more zombies rammed the door.

However, Lu Jing knew very well that the zombies were right outside the door. They hadn't left; they were just standing there motionless. If she went to open the door now, the zombies outside would rush in.

"Am I trapped here?" Lu Jing wondered to herself.

After the zombies outside quieted down, she breathed a sigh of relief and began to observe her surroundings with her flashlight. She had been terrified by the zombies outside and didn't even know what was going on inside the house.

Looking around, Lu Jing suddenly noticed a beam of sunlight shining through the wall behind her. "There's a window?" she exclaimed in surprise.

She turned around and saw what was above the wall, then gave a wry smile: "It's just a ventilation shaft."

There was indeed only one vent at the top of the wall, and there were fan blades inside the vent. When the outside wind blew in, the fan blades whirred.

Without windows, there was no way to leave. She glanced at the size of the vent and realized that even if she removed the motor and fan blades from the vent, she still couldn't squeeze out, since the opening was too small!

Lu Jing used her flashlight to illuminate the surrounding environment and discovered that it was actually a temporary warehouse with shelves!

The warehouse wasn't big, it was quite small, and the shelves had been disassembled and piled together.

The whole room looked very clean, with very little dust on the floor and even on the shelves. Compared to the outside, it was unbelievably clean.

Could it be that someone is cleaning here?

Lu Jing was taken aback for a moment, but then, touching the diary in her pocket, she suddenly exclaimed in surprise, "Could it be... such a coincidence?!"

She used her flashlight to observe her surroundings and found a makeshift shelf on her left, which was covered with a cloth.

This indicates that there is still space on the other side of this shelf.

She walked over to the other side of the shelf, shone her flashlight on it, and was stunned by what she saw.

The other side, hidden by the shelves, was equally clean. It resembled a small bedroom, with a bed made of shelves, covered with a pink mattress and blankets, the blankets folded neatly as if the person sleeping there had just left.

Beside the bed was a desk with many books on it, mostly science fiction, and one medical book, which Lu Jing neither looked at closely nor paid attention to.

Besides books, there was a tablet, a hand-cranked charger, and a brand-new diary on the desk.

Next to the desk, there was a clean bottle of mineral water.

Looking at the scene before her, Lu Jing knew she had guessed correctly; this was the small warehouse Xu Haishui had mentioned!

My younger sister used to live here!

She took a deep breath, controlled her emotions, reached out and touched the neatly folded blankets and mattress, then her gaze fell on the table!

There was a new diary on the table, as if it had just been opened, but it was covered with a thin layer of dust, as if it hadn't been used for two days.

Lu Jing put down the cleaver, opened the new diary on the table, and when she saw the contents of the first page, she could no longer control herself and burst into tears.

"Damn it! Who the hell stole my diary! Even if you wanted to steal it, you should at least have told me! How can you just steal my diary without a word? You're an animal! Don't let me see you, or I'll definitely kill you!"

This short entry in the diary speaks volumes.

The person who wrote this diary entry is Lu Yun, Lu Jing's younger sister.

Lu Jing covered her mouth, holding the diary, tears blurring her vision. She knew she had found her, she had found traces of her sister!

My younger sister lived here for a long time! She lived alone in this small warehouse, very lonely and bored.
