A strong, dominant queen versus a cunning, biased, devoted, and loyal dog-like man.
After being bitten by a zombie, Yan Shi mutates and gains the ability to devour. The troublesome part is th...
The hotel had plenty of blankets, and the two of them luxuriously covered themselves with several layers. They were worried that they would be too hot, but unexpectedly, in the middle of the night, the wind blew down a tree, which crashed into the glass and let the wind and rain blow in, wetting Zhuang Zhao's blankets and waking him up from the cold.
As for Yan Shi, he's fast asleep, with excellent sleep quality.
The small hotels all had one bed, the only difference being whether it was a large or small bed. The two of them discussed that it was inconvenient to stay in two separate rooms, so they decided to sleep in one large bed with two blankets, without making any special arrangements to separate them.
Yan Shi thought to himself that he could just tuck the blanket under his body and that would be enough; it was too awkward to arrange the blanket in such a way.
If Zhuang Zhao dares to do anything, she'll cripple him. If he acts strangely, and she can increase her favorability towards him, who knows what might happen in the future.
Zhuang Zhao was drowsy and subconsciously burrowed into the warm blankets. He only woke up when he smelled the scent. If he got close, he could smell Yan Shi's scent. Even if she had a different scent on her, he could tell it was Yan Shi as soon as he smelled it.
Zhuang Zhao immediately withdrew her hands and feet, held her breath and observed Yan Shi, afraid that her actions might have woken her up.
That scare completely banished any sleepiness I might have felt.
Speaking of which, Yan Shi's bed is really warm.
"Wake up, wake up." Zhuang Zhao calmed down and woke Yan Shi.
"Hmm, what's wrong?"
"The window is broken, let's sleep in another room."
"Ugh, this is so troublesome."
"Then I'll carry you over."
"Can you carry me?" Yan Shi immediately came to her senses. In her eyes, Zhuang Zhao was just a high school student, thin and weak. It would be a stretch for him to carry an adult like her.
"It won't fall."
As Zhuang Zhao spoke, he squatted down and reached out his arms to hug Yan Shi. Yan Shi was already clear-headed, so how could he let him actually carry him to the next room? He wrapped himself in a blanket, put on his shoes, and carried the blanket over. Zhuang Zhao followed with the blanket that was still usable.
"Can you still use your blanket?"
"There's one that's not completely wet."
"I'll give you one, so we can get closer together and warmer up."
"Um."
"Your hands are so cold, where are your feet?" Yan Shi touched Zhuang Zhao's hands, which were so cold they were practically icy, just like her hands when she washed clothes with cold water in winter.
"The wind was blowing just now, but it will warm up again in a bit."
"Put your feet under my blanket," Yan Shi said, while holding Zhuang Zhao's hand to warm it.
"This isn't a good idea."
"Do your feet smell?"
"No, my feet don't smell."
"That settles it then. Besides, you can't smell it anyway, so you probably don't even know your feet smell."
“I asked around, and no one has ever said my feet smell,” Zhuang Zhao replied earnestly.
"Just kidding, stick it in, stop fiddling around, it's almost dawn."
In the dead of night, Zhuang Zhao wasn't worried about having her expression seen, and didn't try to hide it at all. After lying down, she first extended her wandering foot, and at the same time, she brought her hand, which Yan Shi had just warmed, back to her mouth. She could still vaguely smell the scent on it. Thinking that there might still be some warmth left on her hands, and afraid that the warmth would dissipate too quickly, she put her hands together and rested them against her cheeks. In a way, this was practically sleeping in the same pillow.
When Yan Shi woke up, it was still raining, and the outside was gloomy, making her feel sleepy.
"Eat something first now that you're awake." Zhuang Zhao brought over a steaming bowl of rice porridge. He didn't know how long Yan Shi planned to eat all that food, so he didn't use it randomly and just cooked rice porridge.
"I don't want to eat, I want to sleep. Cloudy days are perfect for sleeping." Yan Shi said, tucking his exposed, icy shoulders into the blanket.
"Eat before you sleep, otherwise you'll get low blood sugar if you sleep too long."
"I want to eat meat buns."
"Pure meat? Pure meat without pork doesn't taste good. Let's go pick mushrooms after the rain stops and make chicken and mushroom dumplings."
"Great! It's been so long since I've had mushrooms. I didn't like mushrooms when I was little. But after I went to school, I ate mushroom and meat buns first, and then mushroom hot pot set meal. That's when I realized that I didn't dislike mushrooms, I just didn't like the mushrooms my mom cooked." He immediately perked up when talking about food, which was more effective than anything else.
Zhuang Zhao put down the food and went out. Yan Shi changed his clothes, took the empty bowl, and went out. He looked down and saw someone coming in downstairs.
"Zhuang Zhao~" she called out in a drawn-out tone.
Here it is.
Yan Shi followed the sound and found Zhuang Zhao ladling porridge. Seeing him ladling porridge onto the surface, he asked, "You like plain porridge too? I don't usually like porridge, but I especially like the clear layer on top after it settles. My mom says I'm hard to please and should just eat rice water instead, but rice water and plain porridge taste different. I don't like rice water because I think it's tasteless."
"I'm fine with anything, I'm not picky, I'll eat anything, another bowl?"
"Half a bowl." Seeing Zhuang Zhao reach out, Yan Shi handed over the empty bowl, and Zhuang Zhao picked out a spoonful of the clear liquid from the top.
"I just saw someone come downstairs." Yan Shi held the bowl with both hands, pecking at the food one bite at a time. The warm bowl felt incredibly comforting.
"several?"
"I saw one. He was a man, a bit muscular, and looked to be in his thirties or forties."
"Okay, I'll keep an eye on it then."
"Why are you staring at him?" Yan Shi asked, puzzled. At the same time, it seemed that Zhuang Zhao was taking her words too seriously; she had only said it casually.
"What if he's a bad person?"
"Even if they are bad guys, the two of us can't beat them. Let's hide in the room for now and leave when the rain stops. Hmm, I wonder if they'll target my tricycle?" Yan Shi suddenly thought.
"Wasn't the tricycle locked?"
"Locking things up is usually only good for keeping honest people out of trouble. Oh well, let nature take its course. Anyway, there are tricycles here." Yan Shi becomes even lazier on rainy days, unwilling to move an inch. Even if she sees someone eyeing her tricycle full of food, she might not go out to check.
