Earth stopped turning and doomsday arrived.
Disasters came one after another, and humanity, in order to survive, finally exposed the darkness hidden within their hearts.
Deception and b...
Time passed day by day.
Lu Yuan and his group still had no way to escape from here; the humanoid Yuans were guarding them far too closely.
Several more days passed, and the sky grew even more gloomy.
A storm seemed to be brewing in the sky, with dark clouds hanging low, so dark that it looked as if you could reach out and touch them.
The cave was damp again, and the ground was so wet that there was nowhere to put your feet.
Lu Yuan helplessly carried a basin of water outside and looked up at the dark clouds in the sky again.
"It looks like it's going to be a heavy rain. We need to be well prepared, otherwise, if the cave gets flooded, we won't even have a place to hide."
Zhou Tong, who was smoking a cigarette nearby, nodded.
"Why don't we go live in the tree? The tree hole is very big."
Lu Yuan shook his head.
"It's more dangerous in the trees than in the cave. This storm looks like it's at least a level 10 or higher. We should be careful and try to prevent water from flowing in. We need to properly deal with the entrance to the cave to prevent the water from flowing back!"
Zhou Tong immediately nodded, and then gathered some people to bring dry soil from outside to line the cave to prevent the moisture from rising.
Lu Yuan and his group then used chisels and various tools to lower the height of the stone cave entrance at the doorway, so that even in the worst wind and rain, water wouldn't flow back in.
The two ape guards outside the door were dumbfounded, their minds seemingly blank. They nodded thoughtfully as they watched Lu Yuan and his team's progress.
Lu Yuan didn't waste any more words with them. Communicating with these apes was too mentally taxing, and Lu Yuan preferred to do more work rather than interact with them.
As I finished dealing with these matters, a few raindrops began to fall from the sky.
Lu Yuan reached out and caught a raindrop, discovering that it was quite large.
"Goodness, it seems we really have shrunk! Everyone be careful, it's going to rain!"
Then everyone returned to the cave and waited quietly.
The cave is currently about five meters above the ground.
A height of about five meters is enough to protect them from rain, but it would be troublesome if a flood really occurred.
Fortunately, there was a river valley on their side, and Lu Yuan guessed that most of the river water would likely flow into the valley.
Rumble.
A clap of thunder echoed in the sky.
Lu Yuan stood at the cave entrance, shading his eyes with his hand as he looked outwards.
Thunder rumbled across the sky, and streaks of lightning flashed across the heavens.
In the distance, the apes huddled under the trees, shivering, which made Lu Yuan shake his head.
They learned from childhood that they shouldn't hide under trees when it rains, but these apes clearly didn't know that.
Finally, a bolt of lightning struck down from the sky, landing with a loud bang in a grove of trees in the banana plantation.
Then the apes below the trees were instantly turned into charred remains, and a group of apes in the distance let out mournful cries.
Seeing this scene, Lu Yuan shook his head helplessly and waved to the two apes trembling at the entrance of the cave.
The two apes approached Lu Yuan, bewildered, their eyes still showing a hint of wariness, but even more so, fear.
Then Lu Yuan pointed to the distant woods, which he said were just as dangerous, and then he pointed to the location of the cave.
"You need to find some caves to hide in; we can't run away now!"
Upon hearing Lu Yuan's words, the two apes shook their heads again.
They seemed to understand, but they rejected Lu Yuan's conditions because they did not want to leave their posts.
Seeing the two apes standing foolishly in the rain, clinging tightly to the wall to minimize the water from washing over them, he felt a sense of helplessness.
The thunder grew louder and louder, and then the sky suddenly darkened.
Apart from the flash of light following the thunder, there was no light outside.
Bolts of lightning struck the forest repeatedly, even igniting small wildfires, but they were quickly extinguished by the torrential rain, as if the rain was trying to destroy the entire ground.
The children huddled shivering at the very back of the cave, where the air was still very damp. To reduce the dampness during the battle, Lu Yuan lit a campfire inside the cave.
After the fire was lit in the cave, the temperature inside rose sharply. Everyone felt the dampness dissipate instantly, and everyone couldn't help but move closer to the campfire.
Even the apes standing outside, though coughing from the smoke, couldn't help but move closer to the cave after feeling the warmth inside.
The torrential rain continued, and after a whole day, it was finally time for the two apes to clock out.
After dark, the two apes stumbled and fell their way through the darkness until they finally left the area.
Lu Yuan and the others continued to plan their future lives in the cave.
Seeing that the ape had left, Zhou Tong and the others began to get excited.
"Now is our best chance to escape! The apes aren't much stronger at night, and with the rain, they're even less likely to come out. This is our best chance to get out!"
After hearing Zhou Tong's words, Lu Yuan couldn't help but look up at her.
"Do you know where we should escape to? The darkness is a challenge for apes, and it's a challenge for us too. Plus, there's a high chance of mutated beasts appearing outside. I don't need to elaborate on how dangerous it would be to go out at this time."
