Earth stopped turning and doomsday arrived.
Disasters came one after another, and humanity, in order to survive, finally exposed the darkness hidden within their hearts.
Deception and b...
All the orderly began to get busy. At that moment, Lieutenant Colonel Lei suddenly thought of someone, a girl.
"Damn it, I completely forgot that Yanzi hasn't come yet!"
Thinking of this, Lieutenant Colonel Lei panicked a little. He actually liked this girl quite a bit, and even had a plan to make her his daughter. A few years ago, he separated from his family and lost contact with them.
By now, he had almost forgotten what his children looked like, but the moment he saw Yanzi, he immediately recalled what his family looked like.
"Orderlies, orderlies, hurry to the guest rooms to rescue people!" Lieutenant Colonel Lei shouted desperately, but all the orderlies had already been sent out, because what they had to protect now was the animals and plants they owned.
Seeing that no one was paying attention to him, Lieutenant Colonel Lei felt another earthquake in the distance, followed by a shell landing on the parade ground in the camp, with flames shooting into the sky and a huge crater being blasted into the ground.
"We can't wait any longer, we have to move the swallows out right away!"
Thinking of this, Lieutenant Colonel Lei gritted his teeth and began to slowly move his wheelchair toward the guest room.
Artillery fire was detonating throughout the camp, with several shells hitting buildings precisely, causing chaos as people scrambled to retrieve important items from the fire.
Lieutenant Colonel Lei narrowly escaped being hit by artillery shells several times, but fortunately, the shells were not very accurate, and he managed to dodge them.
The laboratory wasn't far from the guest rooms, but it took Lieutenant Colonel Lei nearly half an hour to get there, pushing his wheelchair.
"Yanzi, where are you? Come out quickly!" Lieutenant Colonel Lei pushed his wheelchair and kept shouting in the corridor. The whole building was already teetering on the verge of collapse, and many floorboards were covered in dust from the shelling.
Lieutenant Colonel Lei panicked. He didn't know where Yanzi lived, so he searched the entire corridor on the first floor, but he couldn't find her.
Looking at the second floor, where a large hole had been blown into a wall, Lieutenant Colonel Lei's expression turned grave. He glanced at the stairs, then at his own legs, and finally gritted his teeth.
"Swallow, don't be afraid, I'm here!"
After saying that, Lieutenant Colonel Lei suddenly exerted force with both arms and fell off the wheelchair. He then used the strength of his hands to prop himself up and slowly climbed up the steps step by step.
The dozen or so steps nearly exhausted Lieutenant Colonel Lei.
As soon as he reached the second floor, he heard a girl's shrill cry. He then mustered all his strength and climbed toward the sound.
When Lieutenant Colonel Lei saw Yanzi again, his eyes were already blurry. He patted the floor and shouted at Yanzi, who was crying and calling out to him on the bed, "Quick! Come to your uncle!"
Yanzi wiped away her tears and saw Lieutenant Colonel Lei lying on the floor. She immediately ran over and helped him down the stairs.
"Don't be afraid, we're here to protect you!"
As they were talking, a shell made a "whoosh" sound as it flew through the air, and then Lieutenant Colonel Lei swiftly tackled Yanzi to the ground.
With a deafening roar, the shell shattered, leaving Lieutenant Colonel Lei's entire back a bloody mess, while Yanzi, pinned beneath him, remained unharmed.
"How is Uncle Lei?" Yanzi asked anxiously. She patted Lieutenant Colonel Lei's chest frantically, but received no response. When she was about to support his back, she touched something sticky. She took her hand and looked at it in the firelight, and her face turned pale with fright.
"Help! Someone, please save Uncle Lei!" Yanzi shouted desperately, but the sound of gunfire and artillery fire made it impossible to hear her.
So she could only carry Lieutenant Colonel Lei on her back and desperately drag him forward as they crawled.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, Lieutenant Colonel Lei finally regained some of his senses. His lips moved slightly, and he coughed twice: "Yanzi, stop climbing, I'm fine!"
Hearing his voice, Yanzi turned around in surprise. Seeing Lieutenant Colonel Lei's kind face, tears welled up in her eyes again.
"You scared me to death! Thank goodness you're alright!"
"By the way, Uncle Lei, what exactly happened?"
Lieutenant Colonel Lei coughed lightly and pointed into the distance, saying, "Those people who were planning to use you as a sacrifice are back! Our soldiers are fighting them right now. Don't worry, they will definitely give you a safe and comfortable home! They'll drive these people away!"
When Yanzi heard this, she stood there dumbfounded. She didn't know why things had turned out this way; it was completely different from what she had expected.
"Swallow, hurry up and go! It's safer in the air-raid shelter!"
Lieutenant Colonel Lei felt a piercing pain in his back. His legs were weak, and he could only move forward by being dragged by Yanzi.
However, Yanzi suddenly burst into tears.
"I was wrong, I'm guilty, I shouldn't have called them over!"
Yanzi burst into tears. She didn't know how to explain to them. Now, no matter how powerful her explanation was, it might not be able to make these people forgive her. Just now, she had used a few soldiers to try to rescue her, but they were killed in the shelling.
These people risked their lives to save her, but she was the one who was to blame.
As Yanzi spoke through her tears, Lieutenant Colonel Lei's expression grew increasingly grave.
