Chapter 186 Cooperation

"Cooperation? Okay."

Old Wu was initially hesitant about cooperating with Yue Jiu Nian, but after seeing how Yue Jiu Zai could kick a nearby dried corpse to pieces with a single kick, he agreed.

Although those mummies looked very old and were severely decomposed, he himself might not be able to kick them apart with one kick. So after seeing Yue Jiu's fighting power, Old Wu agreed to cooperate.

Seeing that they had agreed to cooperate, Yue Jiu Nian quickly dealt with the mummies. Then, she picked up a colorful venomous snake from the ground and used it as a whip to deflect all the snakes that pounced at her. She also swung the snake around, making a cracking sound. It was clear that the snake was almost dead.

Having witnessed the two men's actions, Lao Hei led Uncle Zhao's men to continue searching for the mechanism near the stone wall. However, they ultimately failed to find it. With the mummies and poisonous snakes mostly dealt with, the group decided to head back.

Uncle Zhao didn't know Yue Jiu Nian and the other person, but Lao Hei had seen them before. So when Lao Wu said that Yue Jiu Nian and the other person wanted to cooperate with them, Lao Hei agreed.

On the way back, Yue Jiunian casually asked, "Hey~ by the way, where are the rest of you? Where did they all go? I remember you had a lot of people~"

Old Hei remained silent after hearing her words, and Old Wu also kept his head down. Only Uncle Zhao answered her, saying, "Sigh, we encountered those things in a tomb. Fatty was bitten to death by a poisonous snake, and the other two who were slower were killed by the mummies. Sigh..."

"Oh, that's a real shame."

Yue Jiu sighed. She didn't ask Jiang Yan if he was alright because she knew he would be fine when they parted, which is why she dared not show herself.

They hadn't gone far down the tomb passage when they arrived at a small burial chamber. The chamber wasn't large, and it contained only a few boxes. These boxes had all been opened, but they were empty except for some brown liquid that smelled terrible.

However, there were several corpses next to the box and at the entrance of the tomb. Yue Jiuzai recognized those corpses as Fatty and his group.

The fat man had many wounds on his body, dark purple and black, clearly from snake bites. The others also had snake bites, but the fatal wounds were on their chests or necks.

One of them had his chest pierced through, his clothes soaked in blood, and he died from excessive blood loss. Another had his neck twisted in a contorted shape, clearly indicating that he died from a broken neck.

While examining the corpse, Yue Jiuzai also surveyed the environment inside the tomb, wanting to see what else was inside.

However, after searching around, she found nothing else, so she knew there were no more poisonous snakes or mummies here, and she also didn't see Jiang Yan.

This tomb chamber doesn't have just one entrance; there's another one. However, a large human-shaped stone statue blocks that entrance, preventing people from getting out.

When Yue Jiuzai saw the stone statue, he wanted to go over and take a look, but Lao Wu stopped him.

Old Wu said, "Wait, don't go over there, those mummies came from that side."

Upon hearing this, Yue Jiu asked curiously, "Where did the mummies come from? This place is blocked, how did they get through?"

“Those stones are movable.”

Old Hei pointed to the boxes and said, "They weren't blocking the doorway at first, but they were moved later. Actually, when we came in, we wanted to open these boxes, but who knew they were full of venomous snakes. As soon as we opened the boxes, all the snakes rushed out."

Then we tried to run forward, but as soon as we got there, we encountered the mummified corpses that had run out. In the end, we had no choice but to run back. But when we got back, we saw that the statues had moved by themselves and were blocking the entrance.

After Lao Hei finished speaking, he looked at his dead companions. However, after looking around, he realized that Jiang Yan was not there. So he turned to Lao Wu and Uncle Zhao in surprise and asked, "Where's that kid? I don't see him."

Old Wu had already noticed that Jiang Yan wasn't there. He shook his head with a heavy expression and said, "I don't know, I didn't see him either."

Uncle Zhao also said, "That's strange. He didn't come out with us, nor is he here. Could he have stayed inside?"

Yue Jiu Nian and Yue Jiu Zai exchanged a glance, and then Yue Jiu Nian said, "Why don't we go in and take a look?"

Old Hei didn't say anything, neither objecting nor agreeing. He just looked at Yue Jiu Nian and the other person. Uncle Zhao said, "We definitely have to go in, but we don't know if there will be any mummies or anything inside."

Knowing that they were worried about the mummies, Yue Jiuzai said, "What's there to be afraid of? We'll lead the charge and take on as many as come."

Everyone had already witnessed Yue Jiu and her companion's fighting prowess and knew they were no ordinary people. So when they heard that they wanted to take the lead, no one objected. It just made everyone more curious about their identities.

The stone statue blocking the entrance was humanoid, but it was very large and completely blocked the entrance. Yue Jiu Nian first tried to push it, but after finding that she couldn't push it open, she started looking for mechanisms inside the tomb.

The mechanism for this stone statue might not be in this tomb chamber, or there might not be one at all. In any case, she and everyone searched for most of the day but couldn't find it. In the end, Yue Jiuzai lost her temper and used her magic to smash the stone statue in two with one palm!
