Chapter 443 Vegetative State

Chapter 443:

In a hospital ward, a person in a vegetative state was lying peacefully asleep in bed. Next to her sat a woman, a family member of the patient, who was peeling an apple.

"Mom, when are you going to wake up? I miss you so much. You love apples the most. I peeled an apple for you. Get up and eat it soon."

The woman held a peeled apple and looked sadly at her mother on the bed.

Suddenly, while the woman was grieving alone, a transparent figure floated out from the body of the person lying in the hospital bed. This figure looked exactly like the person in the hospital bed; it was the soul of a patient.

After the soul emerged, it reached out to touch the woman holding the apple, but unfortunately, because it was a soul, it couldn't touch her at all. Seeing this, the soul could only sigh softly, "Ah~"

Since the spirit cannot communicate with ordinary people, her sigh should not have been heard. However, for some reason, when the spirit sighed, the woman next to her seemed to hear the sigh and actually turned around to look at the person on the hospital bed.

"Mom? Is that you, Mom?"

The woman's eyes widened, and she looked at the person on the bed with surprise and excitement. She seemed to have heard that sigh just now. The spirit beside her was also surprised and hurriedly continued to call out to her, "Daughter, can you see me? Daughter."

However, the woman seemed to only be able to hear the sigh from the spirit, and couldn't hear any other sounds. So when she saw that the person on the bed was still sleeping, she said disappointedly, "Sigh, I'm getting more and more neurotic. I'm even having auditory hallucinations."

The spirit beside her, realizing that her daughter still couldn't see her, was also very disappointed. She said to the woman, "Sigh, forget it. You shouldn't stay here. Go back and rest. You still have work to do, and your child is waiting for you to come home and take care of her."

The spirit felt heartbroken seeing her child taking care of her day and night, so it said many things to persuade her, but the woman couldn't hear a word it said.

Two hours later, the woman's younger brother arrived. As soon as he came in, he said to his sister, "Sister, you should go back first. Your child is waiting for you at home. I'll take care of Mom here."

The woman listened to her brother's words, glanced at the person on the bed for a while, hesitated for a moment, and finally nodded, saying, "Okay, then I'll go back first and come back tonight."

"Yes, go back quickly."

The younger brother also felt sorry for his older sister and wanted her to go home and rest as soon as possible.

Even the spirits nearby chimed in, "That's right, I don't need your care. You should all go back and rest. Oh, son, don't come either, Mom doesn't need your care!"

The woman quickly packed her things and left the hospital. As she left, she told her younger brother, "Remember to talk to Mom often, chat with her. Maybe she'll wake up soon."

"Okay, I understand. Be careful on your way."

The younger brother nodded.

Watching his sister leave, the younger brother sighed and returned to his mother's bedside. He sat down on a chair and said, "Mom, please get up! Don't sleep anymore. My sister and I miss you so much. Look at her, she's lost weight taking care of the children and you. It breaks my heart."

The younger brother was just chatting casually with his mother when he unexpectedly heard his mother's voice coming from the side!

He heard his mother say, "Yes, you've both lost weight. It breaks my heart to see you like this."

"Mom? Mom! Is that you?"

The younger brother suddenly looked excitedly at the person on the hospital bed. He leaned over to look at his mother, wanting to see if she had woken up, but the person on the bed still had her eyes closed and was not moving.

The spirit beside him kept calling out, "Son, son, I'm here, I'm doing this..."

The younger brother paced back and forth in the room in disappointment, and even called the doctor, saying that he suddenly heard his mother's voice.

"Sir, please don't get agitated. You may be too tired lately, which is why you're experiencing auditory hallucinations. The patient is still the same as before; there's no sign of him being lucid at all."

The doctor, who had already conducted a full examination on the patient, said regretfully to his younger brother.

The younger brother looked at his mother on the hospital bed with disappointment, and finally had no choice but to believe the doctor's words, guessing that he might be hallucinating.

"Oh, thank you for your hard work, I'm sorry."

The younger brother said to the doctor.

"It's alright, we understand your family's concerns."

After the doctor finished the examination, he left the ward, while the younger brother stayed by his mother's bedside alone.

"Mom, I wish you would really wake up. Why won't you wake up?"

The younger brother was talking to himself again, while the spirit beside him frantically floated back and forth, repeatedly calling out to her son, "Son, Mommy's here! I'm here!"

But no matter what she said, her son still couldn't hear her or see her.

It wasn't until around 7 or 8 p.m., when it was much later and the younger brother was about to order takeout, that he heard his mother's voice again.

"Hello, could you please give me a braised pork rice dish? Yes, please deliver it to room number xx at xx hospital. Thank you."

When the younger brother saw that it was getting dark, he went to the window of the ward to smoke. But just as he was about to light his cigarette, he suddenly heard a voice: "Didn't I tell you to quit smoking? Why are you smoking again? Why are you just like your dad?"
