Chapter Forty-Eight: Discussing Compensation

When the first rays of morning sunlight fell on Yue Jiu Nian's face, she was already awake. However, she didn't want to get up from the tree. She simply turned over gently on the branch and tried to go back to sleep. But this time, she couldn't fall asleep because the birdsong nearby was a bit noisy.

"Coo coo~ Coo coo~"

"Chirp chirp~"

"Ugh, forget it, I'm not going to sleep. I'd better go find something to eat."

Yue Jiu Nian climbed down the tree and went to look for the backpack she had left under the tree the night before.

Liu Zhan was still sleeping soundly on the grass under the tree, completely unaware of what was happening. He must have been exhausted yesterday. Yue Jiu Nian sat down next to him and rummaged through her backpack without being woken up.

"Hey, wake up, wake up, it's time for us to set off."

After having breakfast herself, Yue Jiunian waited about half an hour before waking Liu Zhan up. She looked at the time and it was already past six in the morning. The sun had just risen, and this was a good time to look for the cave. Once they found it, they could go down the mountain directly.

"Hey, wake up! Do you still want to go down the mountain and go home?"

"Yes, of course we need to go home, but do we need to leave so early?"

Liu Zhan was called several times and even pushed by Yue Jiu Nian before he slowly got up, looking like he hadn't slept well. He rubbed his eyes and said a little aggrievedly, "Sister, what time is it? Can't you let me sleep a little longer?"

Yue Jiu Nian ruthlessly pulled him up, then said coldly, "No, because we need to find the cave quickly so we can get down the mountain sooner. Do you want to spend the night in the mountains?"

"Um, I don't want to. Okay, shall we set off now? Shouldn't we wash up first?"

Liu Zhan felt a little helpless because he felt uncomfortable if he didn't wash his face or brush his teeth after waking up in the morning.

Upon hearing this, Yue Jiu Nian pointed to a small stream not far away and said, "Go on, hurry up, I've already finished washing and am just waiting for you."

Liu Zhan nodded obediently and said, "Okay, I understand."

The two quickly washed up and set off, but because Liu Zhan couldn't quite remember the route, they took many wrong turns.

"Damn, are you even capable of doing this? You said we should go this way, but it's not. We don't even know where we are now."

As Yue Jiu Nian followed behind Liu Zhan, she complained. She was speechless; this child's memory was just too bad.

"Um, I'm sorry, this place is just too big, I can't tell where I am at all, so..."

"Why..."

Actually, it's not Liu Zhan's fault that he couldn't find the cave. He's just an ordinary person, and it's normal for him to get lost in this unfamiliar mountain forest. It's just that Yue Jiu Nian was too anxious to find the cave, so she got a little short-tempered.

The two of them wandered through the forest for most of the day, and eventually they ended up back at the original tomb. When Yue Jiu Nian saw the large rock that she had broken off, she knew that she had returned.

She walked somewhat weakly to the big rock, patted it, and said, "Hey, buddy, I'm back again."

Liu Zhan, who was resting, suddenly heard Yue Jiu muttering to herself and was a little confused: "Sister, who are you talking to?"

"What? Can't you see we're back to square one?"

Liu Zhan looked around in confusion, and said uncertainly, "Huh? There's a cave here too, but why does it look so familiar?"

“Of course you look familiar,” Yue Jiu Nian rolled her eyes and said, “This is the place where I rescued you.”

Upon hearing this, Liu Zhan finally showed a look of sudden realization: "Ah, so this really is the place! Oh my god, how did we end up here?"

Just then, the large rock that Yue Jiunian was leaning against suddenly woke up. It had been sleeping ever since Yue Jiunian left, and now it had been woken up by Yue Jiunian. It opened a pair of strange eyes and said in an old voice, "Oh, so it's you who's back. How is it? Did you find your things? Are you back to make amends to me?"

Liu Zhan was terrified when the big stone spoke. He didn't know who was speaking. There were only two people nearby, him and Yue Jiu Nian, but neither of them had a very old voice.

Liu Zhan shouted fearfully around him, "Who is it?! Who was speaking just now?"

Before Yue Jiu Nian could reply, Da Shi Tou heard Liu Zhan shouting, so he slowly said, "It's me. What are you yelling about? It's so noisy."

Upon hearing this, Liu Zhan became even more terrified and shouted around, "Who are you?! Come out now!"

He was probably terrified by the situation, so he ran to Yue Jiu Nian's side: "Sister, sister, did you hear someone talking?"

Yue Jiu Nian was already secretly laughing uncontrollably. Seeing Liu Zhan's frightened look, she wanted to tease him even more, so she reached out and patted the big rock, saying, "You can hear it? It's talking."

Liu Zhan initially thought Yue Jiu Nian was deliberately trying to scare him. He pointed at the big rock and said, "Sister, please stop messing around. You scared me to death just now."

Seeing that he didn't believe her, Yue Jiu Nian turned around and revealed the strange big eyes and mouth of the large stone, saying, "It's true, you have to believe me, it really is talking."

The big rock, finally showing its face, stared at Liu Zhan and said, "Hey young man, how are you?"

Liu Zhan stared in shock at the strange eyes and mouth protruding from the large rock, and the eyes even blinked at him a few times!
