"What do you think?" Xiaolan mustered her courage, her cheeks slightly flushed, and asked as she looked up. "What do you think of my portrayal of the princess yesterday? The play wasn't over yet, but there should still be a score, right?"
After saying this, Ran turned her head away somewhat embarrassedly, not daring to look Shinichi in the eye.
"Oh, you mean that? You looked really good yesterday!"
Shinichi wasn't embarrassed at all and spoke his honest opinion frankly: "The saying 'clothes make the man' and 'gold plaques make the Buddha' makes a lot of sense.'"
"What do you mean?" Xiaolan asked, her eyes half-closed. "Are you praising me or belittling me?"
"Hey Conan, it's great to see you successfully discharged from the hospital!"
From a distance, the voices of Ayumi and her two companions could be heard.
Shinichi subconsciously replied, "How are you all doing lately?"
The three looked at the older brother in front of them, who seemed somewhat familiar but whom they didn't recognize at all, and hesitated for a moment before saying, "Hello, big brother."
"Huh?" Shinichi then realized that he was Shinichi now, not Conan, so what was he responding to?
Genta raised his hand and whispered, "Who is this strange older brother?"
Ai, disguised as Conan, glanced at Shinichi, who was sweating profusely: "He's the high school student who lives next door to Professor Agasa."
As the children chatted, Ran noticed it was getting late and said to Shinichi, "Let's go, Shinichi, it's time to go to school."
After saying that, he pulled Shinichi forward.
"Wait a minute, Sister Xiaolan."
Ran stumbled and turned back to look at Shinichi strangely: "Huh?"
The moment those words left his mouth, Shinichi's mind went completely blank: "What the hell? Who am I? Where am I? What am I doing?"
After asking three questions, Shinichi was quick-witted enough to say, "I was just thinking that Ran, you usually take care of me like an older sister, but I blurted it out without thinking."
"Of course, that's for sure! Who, who says we're not good friends!"
A blush rose on Xiaolan's face, and she said matter-of-factly, "After all, you're still like a child."
Before Shinichi could say anything more, Ran grabbed his hand and walked ahead.
Shinichi breathed a sigh of relief: "Luckily, I'm still sharp. But I hope Ran won't misunderstand anything?"
Ran didn't think much of it. She did take care of Shinichi like an older sister, and whenever she had free time, she would go to Shinichi's house to clean and cook for him.
As soon as Shinichi and Ran entered the classroom, they were teased by their classmates. One dark-skinned boy looked at the two of them and said with a wicked smile, "Hey, Kudo, you two just got back and you're already going to school together?"
Xiao Lan blushed slightly but ignored her, clearly already used to it.
Behind them, there were all sorts of idle people making a fuss, and the whole classroom was filled with whistles, laughter and other sounds.
When the classmates saw Shinichi return after a long time, they were naturally a little excited and teased Ran about her relationship with Shinichi. This is a common joke among boys, although the girl may not necessarily be happy about it.
However, Xiaolan couldn't do anything about these people. After all, they were classmates, and it wouldn't be good to hit someone, so she just pretended not to see it.
Shinichi put down his backpack: "You bastard, don't talk nonsense!"
Seeing that Shinichi was a little unhappy, the others knew to stop. The boy who had led the teasing raised an eyebrow, made a few gestures in front of his chest, and looked timid: "Oh, by the way, I heard that the English teacher who came this time is really hot, a foreign girl with a top-notch figure!"
"Really?" Shinichi was also somewhat interested, after all, he was going through puberty.
Ran looked at Shinichi with ill intent and said indifferently, "Shinichi?"
Instantly, Shinichi composed himself and said in a serious tone, "Ahem, I'm not that kind of person!"
The boys in front of Shinichi didn't say anything, but glanced at him as if to say, "You know what kind of person you are."
"Ding-a-ling~"
The bell rang for class, and everyone hurried back to their seats. Just as the bell ended, the classroom door opened, and a long, slender leg stepped in first. Then, when everyone in the classroom saw the person's full face, many boys couldn't help but swallow hard.
With short blonde hair, fair skin, and blue eyes, this woman clearly exercises regularly, judging from her gait; her figure is perfectly proportioned, forming a stunning S-curve.
The woman walked to the front of the class and said in a strange Japanese accent, "I am your English teacher, my name is Judy Saint-Temilion."
...
As Kōyū sat in his seat, he could hear Ayumi and the other two next to him saying regretfully, "Sigh, I hope Haibara's cold gets better soon, preferably by tomorrow."
A warm feeling washed over Ai Haibara, who was sitting in Conan's seat: "It's so nice to be a child."
This wasn't the first time she'd remarked on this. How comfortable it was to be a child in school! After a day of school and finishing her homework, she could rest all day without having to worry about making a living. She also had fixed holidays every week, and a summer vacation and a winter vacation every year. It was practically the perfect life.
Moreover, children in this age group have the purest and most innocent thoughts; once they enter society, they encounter only scheming and backstabbing.
She recalled her childhood and felt a pang of sadness. After receiving news of her parents' deaths, she was targeted by the organization and spent her entire childhood studying for them. Only during her time studying abroad was she able to experience the life of an ordinary person.
Ai looked up at Kousuke, who was sitting in his seat yawning, and her sadness vanished. Her eyes flickered slightly: "At least, things are alright now..."
