Chapter 1248 Stepping into a "Landmine"

Seeing Kōyū come out of the research lab, Conan asked:

"Kuangyou, what did you two talk about?"

"It's about 'Noah's Ark'."

In fact, Kōyū didn't know why Hiroki insisted that everyone else leave.

What the two of them were talking about wasn't a secret.

However, this is for his own good.

From Hiroki, Kōsuke learned that his idea was theoretically feasible, rather than entirely impossible.

Since that's the case, then Ai shouldn't know.

It wasn't that he was planning some kind of surprise.

Well, he actually had the idea of giving this to Ai as a surprise.

But most importantly, this idea is only theoretically possible; there is no guarantee that it will actually come to fruition.

If we tell Ai first, but then it doesn't work out in the end, wouldn't that be a waste of her feelings?

He knew that Ai would be mentally prepared for the plan to fail, but if the idea couldn't be realized, she would be disappointed to some extent.

It would have been better if he hadn't told Ai in the first place.

If the plan succeeds, then I'll give it to Ai as a surprise.

If he fails, he will pretend that the incident never happened and will never mention it again.

"What?" Conan pressed.

Without explaining to Conan, Kōyū went to the kitchen to see if he needed help and casually replied:

"It's nothing serious, I'll tell you more when we have dinner."

After saying that, he went into the kitchen.

When he arrived at the kitchen, he felt there was nothing he could help with; he just needed to bring the food to the table.

"You've come at the perfect time." Ai took off her apron, gestured to the food on the table, and said to Kōyū, "I'll tidy up the kitchen first."

"Mm." Guangyou glanced at her and responded, then picked up the food and left the kitchen.

...

During dinner, Kōyū told everyone about his conversation with Hiroki while he ate.

Apart from his idea, which needed to be kept secret, the rest of their conversation wasn't exactly confidential.

Therefore, he basically didn't hide anything.

So much so that Conan, after hearing this, said with some disappointment:

"I thought you were talking about some confidential information."

They're just chatting, why clear the area and make everyone around leave?

Given their demeanor, he couldn't help but assume that the two were discussing something confidential that they didn't want others to know.

Is that all?

Even if they don't leave, it won't have any impact.

"What do you think it could be?" Kōyū rolled his eyes at Conan. "Hiroki doesn't know anything about our affairs."

He took a bite of food and then said:

"And you think real 'artificial intelligence' isn't a secret?"

Let alone true artificial intelligence, even voice assistants are not yet widespread in his current era.

Artificial intelligence, such a groundbreaking technology, is absolutely a top secret.

“It’s classified,” Conan explained. “I just thought you might be talking about something else.”

After taking a sip of soup, Guangyou said:

Hiroki explained why he entrusted the 'Noah's Ark' to me and asked me to use it to do something meaningful.

"For example, helping children who have had similar experiences to him."

We didn't talk about anything else.

Just as he was about to continue eating, Kōyū suddenly remembered something he hadn't mentioned yet, so he beat Conan to it and said it:

"By the way, the name of 'Noah's Ark' is now 'Friday'."

"Robinson Crusoe?" That was Conan's first thought.

“It has another meaning, but you can interpret it that way too, it doesn’t matter.” Guangyou didn’t explain further.

Ai Haibara, who was the one who asked Kōyō to name her "Friday," did not react to the name.

Unless Kōsuke reminds her, Ai Haibara would never connect the dots to herself.

It doesn't matter whether it's called "Noah's Ark" or "Friday".

Conan wasn't curious as to why it was called that.

His focus at this moment was on other things.

But after thinking about it, he closed his mouth again.

Seeing Conan hesitate, Kōyū swallowed the food in his mouth and said to Conan:

I know what you're thinking.

"A permanent cure, right?"

"To put it simply, I have already asked 'Friday' to start collecting information related to the drug."

"Using its computing power and various data, I think it should be able to provide some assistance in the research and development of a permanent cure."

"Don't worry, Friday's main task right now is to help develop a permanent cure."

"I'm not sure exactly how long it will take."

"All I can guarantee is that I will do my best."

Conan was quite satisfied with this answer, and he said:

"I understand, I'm already very grateful to you."

"It's nothing, you're welcome." Guangyou gestured with his chopsticks towards the food and said, "Alright, no need to say anything else, let's eat!"

...

After dinner, Conan and Professor Agasa went to the lab to see Friday, and Mitsuyu followed along, adjusting some settings.

Under Hiroki's settings, Fridays will only respond to his commands.

His previous job was to grant Conan and Professor Agasa additional permissions.

After granting permissions, Conan and Professor Agasa can give Friday some basic instructions that do not involve classified information or modify her settings.

The two of them were in the lab researching this novelty device called Friday AI, while Kwang-yu left the lab to help in the kitchen.
