Chapter 19 The Karaoke Room Murder Case (Part 2)

Upon hearing this, Mari hugged Kousuke tightly, repeatedly saying "thank you," with tears streaming down her face.

The group breathed a sigh of relief when they heard that Tatsuya was alright, and went straight to the hospital to see him. When Mari saw Tatsuya lying weakly on the hospital bed, she couldn't hold back her tears any longer.

After Ran, Sonoko, Conan, and Kosuke saw that everything was alright, they stayed for a while and then left. Sonoko punched Kosuke on the head, pressing down hard, and said angrily, "Kosuke, what did you just say? Huh?"

Kōyū covered his head, trying to explain, but Sonoko immediately let go, laughing and saying, "You behaved well this time, so I'll let you off the hook~"

Guangyou could only force a smile, as if he were about to cry, and say, "Yes, yes."

Back at the office, Ran was happy that Tatsuya was alright, but then she thought of Shinichi, and her smile vanished instantly. She turned to look out the window, and Conan felt heartbroken seeing Ran like this. Kouyu then whispered a few words in Conan's ear before sneaking back to sleep.

Conan nodded and went out. A little while later, the ringing of the phone interrupted Ran, who was lost in thought. Ran answered the phone, and a smile immediately appeared on her face as she said, "Shinichi!"

Conan, standing in a nearby phone booth, looked rather somber, but still spoke with a smile, saying, "Hey, Ran, Merry Christmas!"

Ran, seemingly unconcerned about Christmas, pressed, "Shinichi! Where are you? I... I miss you..."

The last few words were barely audible, but Conan still heard them. He chuckled and said, "Sorry, Ran, um, could you go outside and check?"

Ran didn't even hang up the phone before rushing out the door. As soon as she stepped outside, she saw Shinichi's shadow, but it vanished in an instant. Ran chased after him but didn't find him. Dejected, she seemed about to shed tears she hadn't shed in a long time. However, as she reached the stairs of the office, a pink bag caught her eye. She slowly picked it up, looked at the words on it, and managed to suppress the urge to cry. Then, an extremely attractive smile appeared on her lips, and the blush on her face looked particularly alluring against the backdrop of the snowflakes.

It read: "Ran, my little silly girl, I'm so sorry I can't be by your side. Please forgive me, please don't be angry. This separation is only temporary. Once I've settled things here, I'll always be by your side, my little silly girl. Don't cry, okay? Smile more, you're most beautiful when you're smiling! —Shinichi"

This was of course written by Kōyū, and Conan thought it was too cheesy.

However, Conan can also admit that the effect is extremely good.

For the next few days, Xiaolan's smile never stopped.

But those are stories for later.

Conan looked through the window of the agency at Ran, whose eyes were still glistening with tears, but whose smile seemed capable of melting ice and snow.

He sighed deeply, his anger towards the Black Organization and his urge to destroy it growing stronger.
