Chapter 272 Fire Man Appears at the Castle Keep

"Why are you crying? It's such a small thing."

Heiji looked at the marks on Kazuha's face and softened his voice: "I'll help you look for it, don't cry."

Kazuha paused for a moment, then blinked: "You didn't cry."

As soon as he finished speaking, a light rain began to fall from the sky.

Judging from the situation, it's going to rain for quite a while longer.

It's not good to get soaked in the rain like this, so Uncle Mori asked, "Did anyone bring an umbrella?"

"I brought it."

Xiaolan took an umbrella out of her bag, glanced at everyone, and opened it without being told what to do.

Apart from Guangyou, everyone else looked at each other, clearly none of them had brought an umbrella.

Guangyou took a small umbrella out of his bag, glanced at the group of people huddled under it, and calmly opened it.

His umbrella was small, barely big enough to fit Conan, so Uncle Mori forcefully threw Conan under Kouyu's umbrella.

"Don't you guys prepare anything before going out to play?"

Kōyū gave Conan a disdainful look, but still moved the umbrella closer to Conan.

Conan felt a warmth in his heart after seeing this gesture, but he still muttered to himself, "I didn't check the weather forecast. Who knew it would rain?"

The temporary shelter from the rain gave Kazuha time to think about where her wallet was.

"Your wallet might be at that shop over there, Kazuha-neechan."

After thinking for a moment, Conan pointed to a shop by the roadside and asked, "Didn't you buy a camera over there today?"

"That's not impossible."

It's better than having no clue at all. Anyway, it's not far away, so there's no harm in asking.

When Ran and Kazuha went to ask the shopkeeper, Heiji noticed that the "Tokugawa Ieyasu" and "Oda Nobunaga" they had met during the day were getting rained on and seemed to be looking for someone.

With a humanistic spirit in mind, Heiji and Uncle Mori both walked towards the person.

Kōyū didn't want to go, but Conan did, so Conan pushed Kōyū directly toward that place.

"Alright, alright, let's go over there, stop pushing it."

With a sigh, Guangyou walked towards the group while holding his umbrella.

Just as they reached the halfway point, a loud boom suddenly came from Osaka Castle.

As Kouyu and Conan looked up, they saw a man engulfed in flames atop a building in Osaka Castle.

"So it really is Brand?"

Although the person was engulfed in flames, the screams emanating from within still revealed that it was a man.

"He's famous now."

Guangyou looked like he was enjoying the show, wishing he could buy some melon seeds and watch the drama unfold while munching on them.

The man soon succumbed to the intense heat and stumbled, collapsing down the slab building.

Heiji and Uncle Mori ran straight towards the man who had fallen.

Kōyū and Conan also ran over there.

The man's eyes were wide open, his mouth agape as if he were saying something, and he also reached out and grabbed the umbrella from Heiji's hand.

Unfortunately, he died before he could finish speaking.

The police arrived quickly, and Officer Otaki was in charge again this time.

"Officer Otaki is really working hard, having cases to handle for two days in a row."

Uncle Mori felt sorry for the police officers in Osaka, thinking that at least in Tokyo there were Takagi or Miwako to handle things.

Officer Otaki turned his head and smiled: "It's okay, this is my job. But to be honest, it wouldn't be so bad if I were to be unemployed."

Changing the subject, Inspector Otaki looked at Uncle Mori and asked, "By the way, Mr. Mori, how did you know his name is Kato Yuji?"

"I was looking at the badge on his chest."

Uncle Mori pointed to the fire man's chest. Seeing that Officer Otaki was a little confused, he told Officer Otaki what he knew about role-playing games.

Uncle Mori turned to the rest of the tour group and said, "Do you know his motive for committing suicide?"

Officer Otaki was puzzled: "Suicide?"

"With the rain so heavy, no one would be foolish enough to climb up there by themselves. Besides, he was wearing a wool coat that is very easy to catch fire. I think suicide is more likely."

"Of course, we cannot rule out the possibility that someone lured him up there."

Uncle Mori has learned his lesson. This time, he didn't speak too definitively, leaving himself an escape route.

Officer Otaki looked at Uncle Mori's face from left to right, as if trying to find something that made him different from the others.

"Officer Otaki, what are you doing?"

"I was wondering why people die wherever you go. I was quite free before you came."

Officer Otaki answered in a very serious manner.

Uncle Mori coughed awkwardly, looked around, and quietly whispered, "It wasn't me. I suspect it should be the chief's son."

"Didn't you notice that he was also present at yesterday's case? Besides, I only arrived at that case after it had already happened."

Kōyū's lips twitched: "You're all wrong. It should be Conan. He's the chosen one of this world, the Grim Reaper's favorite son."

After complaining about that, Kōyū looked up at the top of Osaka Castle, where Heiji and Conan had already gone up.

There was little light, but Guangyou could still make out two figures, one tall and the other about the size of a child.

The tall one is Heiji, and the child is Conan; there's no need to even think about it.

Heiji held a rope, which was tied to Conan's body. Conan was still lying down, giving the impression of walking a dog.

After Conan stood up, the dog turned into a monkey again.
