Chapter 336 I am not from this world

After leaving the Lavender Bar, Kōyū and Ai planned to go to Professor Agasa's house. They still had tents and other supplies, so there was no need to waste them.

As Ai walked along the road, she didn't ask any questions about Numabuchi Kiichiro, but instead asked some very ordinary questions.

Have you ever seen a firefly?

Guangyou didn't think too much about it and shook his head directly: "No, so I'm actually quite curious too."

Fireflies are not so easy to see in the concrete jungle. Many people who live in the city their whole lives will probably only be able to see them on TV or online.

After getting the tent from Professor Agasa's house and making some simple bento boxes to put in his backpack, Kōyū carried a large bag and went out with Ai.

Before leaving, Guangyou paused at the door for a moment, then quickly ran to the basement and grabbed a bag.

"I can't miss this chance to show off."

Guangyou glanced at the bag behind him, which was as tall as Conan, and chuckled self-deprecatingly, "Heh heh, I'm still a pretentious 'artsy youth'."

After making self-deprecating remarks, Kōyū went upstairs and went out to meet up with Ai.

There are no wild firefly habitats near Tokyo, so they have to take a Shinkansen to a more remote area.

An hour later, the Shinkansen arrived at the station.

This station is very small. It consists of a few buildings with a station sign and a beverage vending machine that seems to be the only thing with a modern technological feel.

There are very few people coming and going; most of them are elderly.

There were only a handful of staff at the station, and they were still using the old method of manual ticket sales and manual ticket checks.

The staff rarely showed any signs of complaint; in their view, this place was far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city and the lure of money.

Most of them live in this place, peaceful and comfortable. After work, they go out for a drink and live a very pleasant life.

Stepping off the platform, all you see is a stretch of green mountains, endlessly rolling, with no modern buildings in sight.

I imagine there's a small, harmonious village hidden behind some mountain, but that's not our current target.

"Let's go, we'd better find a stream."

Guangyou's goal is clear: fireflies mostly live near water or in humid environments.

Meanwhile, surrounding environmental factors have a significant impact on firefly growth.

Whether it's light pollution, poor water quality, or pesticide-treated soil, there are very high requirements, just like a pampered princess.

Humidity, temperature, and pollution levels are among the most demanding conditions that make wild fireflies hard to find in cities.

There was no map in the forest, so the two of them had to rely on their own efforts to find the stream.

Fortunately, it wasn't a tropical jungle, a place that no one would go to. There was some distance between the trees, so it wasn't too difficult to walk.

The safety of the forest should be guaranteed; after walking for a while, Guangyou didn't find a single warning sign or anything like that.

This forest is near the station, and if there are large wild animals, there should be signs or a fence around it.

Birdsong occasionally rang in their ears, and the tranquil atmosphere calmed Guangyou and Xiao Ai down considerably.

Fireflies are mostly active at night, and the sun is still high in the blue sky, so there's plenty of time and no rush.

He strolled leisurely through the woods, his eyes darting around.

In ancient times, there weren't as many tools, but people still managed to have delicious food, thanks in large part to the natural laws of growth.

Plants exhibit both phototropism and hydrotropism.

This is a characteristic that plants and animals in nature developed in order to survive.

Just like a sunflower always faces the sun, it's quite practical.

As they walked, Kōyū stopped, changed direction, and pulled Ai along to continue walking.

He had just roughly determined the direction from the exposed roots of a large tree.

"I think I can hear the sound of a stream flowing."

Ai suddenly closed her eyes, as if carefully confirming whether she had misheard.

"It's not just 'it seems like', I heard it too."

Guangyou could already hear the sound of flowing water; though faint, it was clear in the quiet forest.

Following the sound, they found a stream in front of them.

It seemed as if even the heavens were on their side; a large open space opened up on both sides of the stream, perfect for them to set up their tents.

Guangyou put down the large backpack behind him and took out the tent.

After walking for a while, he found no signs of human activity in the forest. Perhaps someone had walked by, but no one lived there.

The air was fresh, and there was no litter or other pollutants. Guangyou could see the stones at the bottom of the stream with just a glance.

It hasn't rained recently, and the environment is perfect for fireflies to come out and be active.

Ai wasn't watching from the side either. After Kōyū was busy taking the tent out of his bag, she also went over to help set up the tent frame.

The tent was set up in about five minutes.

After setting up the tent, Guangyou walked to the stream. The water level was not high, so he wasn't worried about the tent flooding at night.

"There are fish here too."

Ai took off her shoes, revealing her delicate feet, rolled up her trouser legs, and sat down by the stream.

Those delicate, fair feet were soaking in the cool, clear stream water, and ripples appeared on the surface.

Occasionally, a small fish will dart out from the cracks in the rocks at the bottom of the stream, only to disappear again in the blink of an eye.
