Seeing her expression, Miwako knew what she was wondering about. He pointed outside and said, "She's outside."
"she?"
Miwako was even more puzzled. She quietly peeked over the wall and observed everyone in the restaurant. Then she saw Ai sitting in a two-seater.
Pulling her head back, Miwako's smile was full of teasing: "So you went on a date with some girl today."
Guangyou nodded and explained seriously, "I've been under a lot of academic pressure lately, so I asked her to come out and relax."
Upon hearing this, Miwako paused slightly, realizing that the words sounded familiar. She murmured, "Eh, isn't that what I just said?"
To this, Kōyū readily admitted, saying, "Yes, but Miwako-neechan, you don't need to worry about these details."
Miwako looked down at Kousuke, about to say something, but before she could speak, she noticed that Kousuke's clothes had several holes and burn marks, making him look quite disheveled.
She quickly asked with concern, "Guangyou, what happened to you?"
"There was a murder and a fire at the haunted house just now. I barely managed to escape."
When Guangyou said this, he didn't blush or skip a beat; it's hardest to detect when someone is only half-truthful.
Miwako fell into thought, then suddenly snapped out of it and said, "No wonder I saw a police car drive by just now."
"etc."
She belatedly looked out the window and said, "So that means that guy is solving a case right now? And he hasn't even notified his boss, me?"
After saying that, she couldn't suppress her impulse and hurriedly left Guangyou's sight.
Before Kōyū could react, she returned to her original spot, took out a 500-yen coin from her wallet, and stuffed it into Kōyū's hand.
"You can use this money to buy some drinks or ice cream."
After handing over the money, Miwako hurriedly turned and left, leaving only the words, "Consider this a gift from me to you and your girlfriend."
The restaurant patrons then saw a good-looking woman walking very fast, almost like in a race.
As soon as Miwako pushed open the door and took her first step, the race walk turned into track and field.
To exaggerate a bit, that beautiful figure was like a bolt of lightning, rushing towards the haunted house at an extremely fast speed.
...
Kōyū looked down at the coin lying obediently in his palm, recalling the words Miwako had said after giving him the coin. A smile appeared on his face. He gently tossed the coin up and caught it steadily. After doing this several times, he finally stepped out.
The restaurant was crowded, but that didn't stop Guangyou from spotting the pretty figure sitting in her seat, eagerly waiting.
Guangyou walked briskly to the two-seater. The chair had already been pulled out, and he could simply sit down.
The table was empty, and it seemed that Ai's food hadn't arrived yet. Guangyou played with the coin in his hand, flipping it from his little finger to his index finger and then back again.
While doing all this, his gaze fell on Ai sitting opposite him, who was holding a magazine or book provided by McDonald's.
He initially thought it was a fashion magazine, but upon closer inspection, he realized it was about food and beverage. Although he didn't know what the girl across from him was thinking, he had a vague feeling that it was related to him.
With one hand still flipping through the coins and the other supporting his chin, Kōyū asked, "Ai, what did you order?"
The girl paused slightly as she turned the pages of the book, then lifted it to cover her rosy cheeks. A calm voice came from behind the book: "I just ordered a set meal for two."
Her unusual reaction made Guangyou raise an eyebrow, but the protesting sounds coming from his stomach at the moment made him not think too much about it. He complained, "Isn't it ready yet?"
After noting down their order number, Guangyou continued to sit in his seat and wait for their meal.
About three or four minutes later, a young man wearing a McDonald's uniform walked towards them carrying a plate.
Because of his height, Guangyou couldn't see what was on the plate, but he did see the strange expression on the waiter's face.
"What kind of expression is that? It looks so strange."
Guangyou was a little confused. It seemed that they were the ones who ordered the food. But it was just ordering food, so why did they have such strange expressions?
This isn't anything shameful. We ordered the food openly and honestly. Do the staff at this restaurant have a problem with children ordering food?
The waiter placed their food on the table and then said meaningfully, "Please enjoy your meal."
Whether it was a misperception or not, Guangyou detected a hint of surprise, and even a hint of...envy, in his words?
Guangyou wasn't sure if he had misheard. He looked up to see the expression on the guy's face, but the guy had already run away.
"Never mind, let's eat."
Coming to his senses, Guangyou looked at the food on the table. The moment he saw the food on the plate, he instantly understood why the young man had made that expression.
Hamburgers, fries, chicken nuggets, and cola—a typical combo meal that might seem unremarkable, but the decorations are quite interesting.
The two-person set meal only includes an extra-large hamburger box, which is pink with the Golden Arches logo printed on it, and there are no other decorations.
The extra-large portion of fries was packaged in a heart-shaped cardboard box, with a smaller heart-shaped plastic box embedded in the center. Judging from the lid, it appeared to contain ketchup.
There's not much to say about the cola; the light pink cup holds a cool, dark brown drink, and the upper part of the straw has a heart-shaped logo.
Even chicken nuggets have been molded into heart shapes by some insane restaurant.
Heart shapes are visible throughout this set meal, highlighting its theme without needing any further description.
See, that's it.
"It's pretty good."
Looking at the meaningful dishes on the table, Guangyou suddenly lost his desire to eat them.
Of course, that was impossible. Despite his stomach's protests, Kwang-woo reached out and opened the lid of the ketchup, grabbed a fries, dipped them in the ketchup, and popped them into his mouth.
The warm fries were still crispy, and when you bit into them, they made the unique "crunch" sound of fried food, followed by the unique sweet and sour taste of ketchup bursting in your mouth.
"It tastes good."
Kōyū picked up a French fry, dipped it in ketchup, and said to Ai, "Stop looking at the magazine and eat."
After hesitating for a moment, Ai closed the book, placed it on the table, reached out and tucked the hair that had fallen down when she looked down behind her ear, opened her mouth and ate the French fry that was offered to her.
Guangyou rested his chin on his hand, grinned, squinted at the girl opposite him, and asked softly, "Is it delicious?"
The girl lowered her eyes, nodded slightly, and responded softly, "Mmm."
