Chapter 526 The Nightmare Replays

"Huff, huff..."

A man of medium build was weaving through the city's alleyways, his breath coming in hoarse gasps.

Hiura Takaaki has been on the run for a long time. He hasn't rested for a moment since he escaped from prison, and he hasn't even had a sip of water.

The moment he escaped from prison, he returned to his home. Most of his belongings were confiscated by the police, but fortunately, the safe he had hidden under his bed was not discovered.

The safe contained some chemicals for making bombs, as well as some spare cash and spare clothes.

He didn't linger at home for long. After changing his clothes and making a few simple bombs, he continued his escape.

During his escape, he was nearly discovered by the police many times, but he managed to escape each time by the narrowest of circumstances.

Hiura Takaaki originally wanted to go to the pier to find a smuggler to take him away. He had enough money to buy a place. However, just as he was about to reach the pier, he discovered that the police had already set up a force nearby, just waiting for him to take the bait.

He didn't know how long he had been running or where he was going; he just instinctively ran towards a place where there were no police.

"Bang.."

Hiura Takaaki accidentally bumped into someone, and exhausted, he collapsed to the ground, panting heavily.

Are you alright?

The man who was hit had a good temper. His first reaction upon seeing the fallen Takaaki Hiura was not anger, but rather he knelt down to check if he was injured.

"You look familiar?"

The man leaned closer, scrutinizing his face, then suddenly fell backward in terror, pointing a finger at the fallen Hiura Takaaki and exclaiming, "Aren't you the Hiura Takaaki who escaped from prison?"

Like a pebble thrown into calm water, everyone around turned to look at Takaaki Hiura, and many of them recognized the man lying on the ground as the fugitive from the news earlier.

One person in the crowd noticed the bulge in Hiura Takaaki's coat and, remembering the news report about him "having made his own bombs," immediately pushed aside the people blocking his way and ran out, shouting, "Run! He might have a bomb on him!"

Like a thunderclap from a clear sky, all the onlookers instantly lost their interest in watching the spectacle and hurriedly grabbed anyone they knew and ran away.

The commotion made Takaaki Hiura realize something was wrong; the commotion would definitely attract the attention of the nearby police, which ignited a surge of anger within him.

If he hadn't caused a commotion, he would have had a chance to escape, but now, the chances of escaping are extremely slim.

"Stop arguing!"

Filled with rage, Takaaki Hiura's actions were no longer under his control. He pulled a homemade bomb from his coat and shouted, "If any of you run away again, I'll blow you up!"

Those around them didn't care about any of that. Anyone who actually stopped would be a fool. Hiura Takaaki's words only had the opposite effect, and the people around them ran even faster.

"Hirauchi Takaaki, lay down your weapons and surrender immediately!"

Miwako slowly approached Hiura Takaaki with the gun in hand. There were just too many people around, so to put it simply, her gun was just for show.

On the other side, Takagi also quietly approached Hiura Takaaki, his face gloomy.

He's furious right now. This morning he encountered a murder case, and just when things were finally over, he ran into a bag snatcher. The bag snatcher was a minor case, and it didn't take too much time.

After dealing with all of this, he originally planned to have dinner with Miwako and then go to the amusement park to watch the fireworks, but a prisoner escaped and happened to run near the amusement park.

He gritted his teeth and walked around the people in front of him, thinking to himself, "This is so hard for me."

Although Hiura Takaaki may have some mental issues, he is not stupid. If Miwako tells him to stop, he can't just stand there obediently. Otherwise, why would he go to all the trouble of escaping from prison?

He knew it was impossible for only one policeman to come; if only one came, Hiura Takaaki would definitely throw the bomb in his hand without hesitation.

But the police can't just send one officer to arrest him. He doesn't have many bombs, only three or four. At most, they can kill or injure a few people. Once he runs out of bombs, he'll have no choice but to surrender.

Hiura Takaaki looked around and, sure enough, saw a man running towards him in the crowd. No normal person would run towards him on their own initiative; that man was definitely a cop.

Without much thought, he turned and ran into the amusement park. Running outwards meant he couldn't escape, but running inwards might offer a glimmer of hope.

"stop!"

Miwako put down her gun and started running with her long legs. Takagi, not to be outdone, followed suit.

He only had one thought in his mind right now: catch this guy quickly, and then have a proper date with Miwako.

...

Hiura Takaaki felt he was about to give up; he had reached his limit, and today's training volume was definitely more than the total of the previous few years combined.

If it weren't for the regular exercise he did in prison, he would have been caught almost immediately even if he escaped.

"Thank you, prison."

Hiura Takaaki leaned against the railing, panting heavily. He felt as if a fire was burning in his lungs, making him extremely uncomfortable. He wished he could jump into the lake next to him and drink a few mouthfuls.

The crowd had mostly dispersed, and Miwako's gun finally came in handy. She raised it and shouted at Hiura Takaaki, "Put down your weapon right now, or I'll shoot!"

Hiura Takaaki gritted his teeth, looked up and surveyed his surroundings, then his eyes lit up. He jumped over the railing, ran to the Ferris wheel control machine, and shouted to Miwako, "Don't come any closer, or I'll make sure no one on top can get off!"
