"It's an easy question, but you still have to be able to answer it. If you get it wrong, people will laugh at you."
Ai squinted slightly, her beautiful eyes fixed on Kyou, and said indifferently.
"How could it be wrong? The answer must be... sigh..."
The moment the first word came out of Kouyu's mouth, Ai already knew he had answered wrong. A hint of disappointment flashed in her eyes, but she pretended to be indifferent and said, "Unfortunately, you answered wrong."
"What did you answer wrong?"
Kōyū shook his head and smiled. How could he forget something like that? He was just teasing her. He reached out and ruffled Ai's hair, saying, "Silly girl, how could I forget something like that?"
He didn't know why he called Ai Haibara that in the first place, nor did he remember from which day he started calling her that.
However, these are not the main points. The main point is that, to this day, this is still his favorite title.
Upon hearing the three-character nickname, Ai's hidden disappointment vanished, replaced by a sense of familiarity.
She thought the nickname was quite nice; it was just three simple words, yet it conveyed a deep sense of affection.
These three words are the answer to the question, but...
"Even though you got it right, you still won't get a reward. Who told you to mess with me?"
Ai shrugged and said with great regret, "What a pity."
Upon hearing this, Kōyū lost his composure. He had finally gotten to hear Ai say those words herself, and if he lost this opportunity because of his own mischievousness...
Let's wait until later then. Anyway, the monk can run away, but the temple can't.
This sentence doesn't seem to be used the correct way...
Never mind, let's not worry about the details.
Having figured it out, Guangyou followed her example, spreading his hands and saying, "Alright, I guess I was just being cheeky. I'll honor my bet."
"I thought you would persist, and I might have agreed then."
Ai was also a little surprised; she thought Kousuke would say something more, but he didn't.
“Since you answered the question wrong, there’s no reward. There’s no way you can cheat.” Guangyou smiled.
"Okay." Ai didn't say anything, she just nodded.
Actually, it wasn't that Guangyou didn't want to hear her say that; he was just being dramatic.
As the saying goes, "A jerk is just pretentious," and that phrase perfectly describes him.
I wanted to hear it before I had the chance, but now that I have the opportunity, I'm giving it up. Isn't that just being pretentious?
However, in Guangyou's opinion, so be it if it's pretentious. What he actually values is not the sentence itself, but the emotions contained in the sentence.
It sounds complicated, but an example will make it much clearer.
For example, in Western countries, you can often hear the phrase "I love you" in conversations, such as between couples or between children and parents.
But they said it as casually as if it were water, simply blurting out "I Love You".
Most of them are certainly emotional, for example, when parents say this to their children, it is a genuine expression of their feelings. However, there are still quite a few people who say it but do so without any emotion, and then they still cheat on their partners. Some even commit domestic violence against their parents.
It's like if you point a gun at a passerby and ask them to say "I like you," most people would say it because they're afraid of dying.
But those people said it was to save their lives, not because they actually liked it.
Of course, this doesn't mean that Ai has no feelings for him; she definitely does. But when Kouyu uses those words as a reward, he feels there's something mixed in with it.
Guangyou was willing to forgo the reward because he had thought of these things. If he really reneges, then the meaning of that sentence will be lost.
Moreover, he had previously said that the two of them had a long future ahead of them and many more opportunities.
"Go back to bed and lie down first. I'll go get you some more soup."
Xiao Ai picked up the bowl, and just as she was about to leave the room, Shi Guangyou called her back.
"etc…"
Hearing the sound, Ai turned her head and looked at Kyouya standing there in confusion, asking, "What's wrong?"
"Could you come and help me up? My whole body is aching terribly."
Guangyou, who had been calm just moments before, closed his eyes and began to hum softly.
Yes, he was just pretending.
It's a mix of pretense and reality; the humming was fake, but the rest was genuine.
As mentioned before, Kwang-yu's muscles were extremely sore.
After resting for a day, I felt a little better, but not by much.
The sourness will still be sour, and the pain will still be pain.
He was actually just holding on; if he hadn't been so patient, he probably would have collapsed.
"You're just too proud to admit you're suffering for it."
Ai guessed the cause and effect, shook her head helplessly, put down the bowl, walked to Guangyou's side, and reached out her hands to support him.
"Slower."
"I know, let me take a moment."
After catching his breath, Guangyou quickly lay back down on the bed. It was only a step or two away, and he felt he could manage…
That's impossible!
As soon as he took that first step, Guangyou knew he was wrong.
It felt as if a swarm of ants were crawling on his legs. And that wasn't all; as they crawled, the ants opened their sharp mandibles and bit his legs hard.
Anyone who has had a similar experience knows that you don't feel anything when you stand still in one position, but if you make any movement, the soreness will erupt like a volcano.
Guangyou is currently in this stage.
His consciousness could indeed hold on, but his honest body couldn't.
