Chapter 683 Heartbroken

Soon, Takagi returned to the lounge.

After entering, Takagi asked Kōyū and Conan, "Kōyū, Conan, what are you two doing here?"

Why are there always these two little devils at crime scenes?

They're involved in this case now, and they were also involved in the Kuroki family case before.

This is clearly the contestants' rest area. It's impossible that these two kids are going to participate in a competition, right?

Do wrestling now have kids' divisions?

That's unlikely.

Has the world changed?

Just as Kōyū was about to answer, Conan beat him to it: "When I went to the bathroom just now, I heard them arguing about why Nagase wouldn't come out, so I came over to check it out."

In short, I'm just here to join in the fun.

Inspector Megure's lips twitched, and he squatted down, explaining with a hint of exasperation, "That's not what he meant. He was asking who brought you two here. You two didn't come here to play a match, did you?"

Just as Kōyū was about to answer, a male voice suddenly came from outside: "I am the famous detective Kogoro Mouri, Inspector Megure."

"...."

Kōyū shut his mouth, glared resentfully at Conan, and then at Uncle Mori.

It's really unpleasant to have something snatched away like that.

Once would be one thing, but he was robbed of it twice.

"I knew it was you again, you jinx." Inspector Megure glanced at Uncle Mori, who was leaning against the door looking cool, and muttered to himself.

Why does this thing always end up at crime scenes?

Once or twice could be a coincidence, but this has happened countless times now.

I never noticed how strange he was when we were colleagues.

How did the name "Sleeping Kogoro" become so sinister after it was first used?

It used to be Shinichi Kudo, now it's Kogoro Mouri.

His daughter, Ran Mouri, and Shinichi Kudo seem to be childhood friends...

Is it true that birds of a feather flock together?

"Officer, since I'm here, could you let me see the video recording the entire murder?" Uncle Mori, oblivious to the slightly strange atmosphere, leaned against the wall, still trying to look cool, and said, "Maybe I can be of some help."

Inspector Megure looked at the man in front of him, whom he considered a "plague god," thought for a moment, and then nodded, giving a very reluctant "hmm."

"What's wrong? Why the expression?" Ai walked from outside the door to Kouyu's side and noticed his strange expression, so she asked, "Is the case not going well?"

"No, I just feel a little emotionally exhausted." Guangyou clutched his chest and lowered his voice. "I need to be comforted before I feel better."

Ai completely ignored Kousuke's request for comfort, and just chuckled: "Then you can keep working hard, you should be fine in a while."

"I'm even more mentally exhausted."

After muttering something to himself, Guangyou turned his attention back to the case.

Close the case as soon as possible, then disband the group as soon as possible.

He also has to give gifts.

The group sat around the table watching the video. Guangyou had already watched it two or three times, but he was still watching it very attentively.

"At this point, the murderer already had a knife in his hand, so it seems that this was a premeditated murder."

"First, they stabbed the victim in the back, and then stabbed him in the abdomen after he turned around."

"Hey, the victim seems to be trying to say something, but the murderer covered his mouth, so we can't hear what he said at all."

"The deceased wanted to remove the murderer's mask."

Seeing this, everyone present focused their attention on the camera screen.

On screen, Nagase Hyota's face showed a look of terror, and his mouth was covered by the "wolf-faced warrior," so it was impossible to hear what he was saying.

Perhaps realizing this, Nagase Hyota reached out and grabbed the "Wolf Warrior's" mask, trying to remove it, probably wanting to see if he could leave a mark on the killer's face.

“Um,” Kōyū said, resting his chin on his hand on the table, “the mask I found in the bathroom before seemed to have a crack below the right eye.”

“If that’s the case, then the killer’s face might be injured.” Uncle Mori said with a hint of joy on his face, “If he is really injured, then the killer will be easier to find.”

"Hmm!"

Suddenly, Nagase Hyota let out another scream, drawing everyone's attention back to him.

In the video, the knife in the killer's hand has already pierced Nagase Hyota's chest.

Uncle Mori watched the murderer's retreating figure and complained, "If only the murderer could turn his face around, we might be able to see his face through the tear in the mask, and then we could easily arrest him."

Having watched the videotape, Kwang-woo knew that the murderer would turn his face in the video, but only half of his face, and not the damaged side.

As the video continued, Nagase Hyota, who had been lively just moments before, was now dead, slumped on the ground, just like the crime scene they had discovered.

Next is the scene where Kwang-woo discovers something suspicious.

Logically, after committing murder, the perpetrator should quickly leave the crime scene to reduce the chances of being discovered, or clean up any traces left at the scene.

But this murderer was completely different from them. Instead, he looked around as if he was looking for something, and didn't even notice the chair behind him.

The killer tripped over the chair and fell to the ground, which delighted Uncle Mori and Inspector Megure. They became even more focused, ready to press the pause button at any moment: "Okay, stand up like this, maybe we'll be able to see the face under the mask."
