A few minutes later, the ingredients were washed and placed on the cutting board. Guangyou began to cut the ingredients.
The cleaver made rapid and rhythmic "thump-thump" sounds as it repeatedly struck the cutting board.
While cutting the ingredients, Guangyou began to simmer the broth.
As time passed, a rich fragrance filled the air in the room.
"Okay, that's fine."
After tasting a mouthful of the miso soup in the pot, Kōyū nodded in satisfaction.
I must say, miso soup is really easy to make.
If you use seasonings, you can even skip the step of making stock.
You can even use plain water; just cook the ingredients and then add miso.
However, it's better to make your own stock, as it not only makes the soup taste better but is also more natural.
In Japan, miso soup is a common dish on the dining table.
It is said that eating miso can extend lifespan, but whether this is true or not, Guangyou does not know.
After serving the cooked dishes, rice, and miso soup into bowls and placing them on plates, Guangyou picked up one of the portions and placed it on the table.
Then he called Professor Agasa over to dinner: "Professor, you can come and have dinner now."
"Today's dinner was wonderful," Professor Agasa praised generously.
"Doctor, please take your time eating." Guangyou picked up another full plate and headed towards the basement. "I'll take her dinner down there."
"Okay." Professor Agasa casually replied, picked up his spoon, drank some miso soup, swallowed it, exhaled a breath of hot air, and said contentedly, "Something hot is the best thing to drink in this kind of weather."
...
Back in the basement, Kōyū saw Ai sitting in front of the computer, typing away, just like before.
Occasionally, she would pick up the notebook next to her and record some data.
The moment the basement door was opened, the aroma of food filled the basement.
Smelling the aroma, Ai continued her research without stopping, saying without turning her head, "Doctor, could you please put the food aside? I'll eat it when I have time."
“You should put your research aside for now,” Guangyou said with a smile, shaking his head. “Come and eat after you finish what you’re doing.”
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Ai immediately stopped what she was doing and turned to look.
Guangyou walked over to her with a tray, placed it on the table, and said, "Hurry up, the food won't taste good if it gets cold."
"Why are you here?" Ai asked in surprise.
After Guangyou left, she went to the basement to start her research, completely unaware that it was raining heavily outside.
Should I tell her the truth?
No, that's a straight man's answer.
“I missed you, so I came.” Kōyū pulled up a chair, sat down, turned to look at her, and said with a smile, “Long time no see, Ai.”
"It's only a few hours." Ai glanced at the time, a smile playing on her lips, and said, "That's an exaggeration."
"Alright, let's eat." Guangyou didn't say much and quickly changed the subject.
After handing the chopsticks and spoon to Ai, Kousuke took the food out of the plate and placed it in front of her.
Under the warm lighting, the food looked even more appetizing.
The freshly cooked rice, dishes, and miso soup were still steaming, and as the steam rose, a fragrant aroma filled the air.
The two put their hands together, holding chopsticks, and said in a low voice, "I'm going to start eating."
According to Guangyou, this is not a necessary step, but it can add a sense of ritual to the meal.
After taking a bite of the dish, Ai nodded and said calmly, "Hmm, it's pretty good."
"Then eat more." Guangyou said, picking up a piece of fish from his own bowl and putting it into Ai's bowl.
"Mmm." Ai picked up the piece of fish and put it in her mouth, responding softly.
The atmosphere during the meal was harmonious, which made Guangyou feel that he had made the right choice in buying this desk lamp.
Initially, he simply wanted to improve Ai's research environment and alleviate the damage to her eyes caused by staring at a computer screen in the dark.
Unexpectedly, in the previous situation, the warm glow of the desk lamp added a touch of hazy and cozy atmosphere between the two of them.
Not bad, not bad, this was a good deal.
"I'm full," Ai said, putting down her empty bowl.
After quickly stuffing the rice and vegetables in his bowl into his mouth, Guangyou mumbled, "I'm almost done too."
"I'll go tidy up." Ai put the empty bowls and utensils back on the plate, picked up the plate, and said, "Why don't you rest here for a while? Cooking must be tiring."
"Mm." Kōyū did not refuse.
Sometimes he needs to ask this girl to help him with things she can manage.
This is something he realized when he went to Mingmei Apartment earlier.
After Ai left, Kousuke took a few napkins and wiped the table.
After crumpling the napkin into a ball and throwing it in the trash can, Guangyou found a blank sheet of paper, picked up a pencil, and prepared to draw something to pass the time.
There weren't many games on the computer, and the screen was currently displaying data that Ai was using for research, so he couldn't touch anything.
There was nothing in her room that could provide any entertainment.
There wasn't even a TV, let alone a game console or anything like that.
The only thing I can use to pass the time is books.
Most of them are academic books, such as "Relativity" and "On the Origin of Species".
Putting aside whether he can understand it or not, he doesn't want to read books right now.
Let me draw instead.
But... what should I draw?
Looking up at his surroundings, Kōyū's gaze fell on the teddy bear on Ai's bedside table.
