Chapter 802 The Iron-Willed Straight Man Hattori Heiji (shuhaige.net)

I initially thought a case had occurred, but it turned out to be just an accident.

Upon hearing this news, Hattori Heiji and Kazuha both breathed a sigh of relief.

After watching the staff carry the unconscious person away, the group continued to follow the designated route of the haunted house towards the exit.

Fortunately, the accident happened in the first half of the haunted house, so the group's enjoyment was not greatly affected.

Among the group, Kazuha enjoyed the thrill of the haunted house, while Hattori Heiji maintained basically the same expression throughout.

Kōyū completely ignored the haunted house's mechanisms, enjoying the "unexpected" moments that Ai brought him.

Soon after, Kazuha received a reply from Ran, who said, "We'll be there soon," and then called to the others.

"Let's go, let's go have lunch."

"Finally, we can go get something to eat." Hattori Hei, hands in his pockets, looked at Kazuha and asked, "Where are they?"

"It's not far from the haunted house; they said it's a restaurant with Tokyo characteristics." Kazuha thought about the contents of the text message, then nodded. "Yes, that's what Ran said."

"Let's hurry up and go, I'm starving," Hattori Heiji urged.

"I'll lead the way."

After Kazuha led the way for the group, Hattori Heiji sighed regretfully, "It's a pity that Kudo's plan to treat us to a meal has fallen through."

"Hattori, didn't Conan treat you to takoyaki?" Kōsuke looked up at Hattori Heiji and then asked.

“Takoyaki is takoyaki, and a feast is a feast,” Hattori Heiji replied seriously. “They are two different things.”

"Alright." Kōyū didn't say much. He knew that Hattori Heiji was just saying it, and that he would actually be very careful.

...

The restaurant is not far from the haunted house.

After walking for about five minutes, Guangyou and his group met up with Xiaolan and her companion at a window seat in the restaurant.

"What would you like to eat?" Xiaolan hadn't ordered in advance and had been sitting in her seat waiting for the others.

Taking one of the menus, Kōyū glanced at it and then looked at Ai, asking, "Ai, what would you like to eat?"

"Same as you."

Hearing Ai's response, Kōyū turned his gaze to the menu, considered for a moment, and then asked, "Chicken and egg rice bowl?"

"Mmm." Ai nodded, finished the little milk tea left in her cup, and then put the empty cup aside.

After telling the waiter what dishes they wanted to order, Xiaolan looked at Guangyou, who was still considering, and asked, "Guangyou, have you made your choices?"

“I’ve made my selection.” Kwang-yu pointed to the oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) on the menu and said, “I’ll have two oyakodon… and um, one stir-fried udon too.”

"Okay, I understand."

The waiter noted down the dishes ordered by the group, bowed slightly, said "Please wait a moment," and then turned and left.

...

During the meal, Kazuha told Ran what had happened in the haunted house.

While the two were expressing relief that it was just an accident, Kōyū was teasing Conan.

"Conan, it's a good thing you weren't in the haunted house, otherwise...tsk tsk."

Although it wasn't explicitly stated, Conan understood what Kousuke meant.

Speechless, Conan glanced at Kōyū and then defended himself, "It has nothing to do with me. I was in the restaurant at the time."

"I know, I was just joking." Guangyou didn't tease him too much, smiled, and put a mouthful of rice in his mouth.

"Come to think of it, that does seem to be the case." Heiji Hattori thought for a moment and said, "I remember that every time Conan came to Osaka, it seemed like a case would occur."

"..." Conan paused slightly while eating, then continued eating without saying a word.

"Nothing was going on before you came, but a case broke out after you arrived," Hattori Heiji said, frowning. "It also disrupted my plan to show you around Osaka."

"That was just an accident. Who knew someone would go to such lengths to find treasures that don't even exist?"

Conan remembers that case very clearly.

But what does that case have to do with him?

"I was just joking."

After saying that, Hattori Heiji didn't say anything more, just kept his head down and ate his meal, nodding occasionally.

He said in a voice only he could hear, "It tastes pretty good."

...

The meal took almost an hour.

The group paid the bill and left the restaurant.

Since Kazuha and Ran were quite full, the group didn't plan to visit any of the amusement park's attractions in the short term.

Instead, they found a place to rest for a while.

"Kuou, I have a question for you." Hattori Heiji suddenly remembered the question that had been nagging at him that morning, and leaned closer to Kuou to ask.

"Don't you get bored chatting for so long?"

Upon hearing this question, Guangyou raised an eyebrow.

He thought it was something else, but this is all?

"Why do you feel bored?" After thinking for a moment, Kōyū gave an example: "If you and Conan were to talk about mystery-solving topics, you would also lose track of time while talking."

"That's true, but sometimes you talk about trivial things in daily life, and I can't figure out what's so interesting about that."

This is something he has never been able to understand.

Ye would call his mother regularly, and they would mostly talk about trivial things in life, but they could chat about these trivial things for a whole day.

"What's there to be confused about?" Kōyū glanced at Hattori Heiji and said, "Chatting is about enjoying the process of chatting."

"Moreover, chatting about everyday life can greatly improve the relationship between two people. In other words, Kazuha... you know what I mean?" Kōyū didn't say it explicitly, but hinted at it.

"I don't understand." Hattori Heiji shook his head, looking like he didn't understand.

“…” Guangyou said with a hint of helplessness.

"Hattori, you're hopeless." Conan sighed, then gestured for Hattori Heiji to come closer.

After Hattori Heiji approached, Conan quietly explained it to him.

"Even Conan understood..."

The scene unfolding before his eyes made Kōyū chuckle, and even Conan, who was resting nearby, understood what he meant.

Heiji Hattori still didn't understand.

With Conan's explanation, Heiji Hattori also understood what Mitsuyu had just said.

Are you telling the truth?

Looking at Hattori Heiji, who still seemed somewhat incredulous, Mitsuyu didn't answer immediately. Instead, he focused his attention on Hattori Heiji's slightly flushed face.

He then nodded and said, "Yes, although Kazuha didn't do it on purpose, it does help improve Kazuha's relationship with her aunt."

"You didn't know?" Kōyū asked, his lips twitching as he looked at Hattori Heiji's somewhat surprised expression.

"I have a feeling, it's just..." Heiji Hattori glanced at Kazuha, who was chatting with Ran, and said softly, "Sometimes I have this feeling, and sometimes I feel like it's just my imagination."
