Chapter 873 The Vanished "Head Chef"

"What a bountiful harvest!" Conan said as he watched Kouyu emerge from the woods, his gaze sweeping over the latter's hands. "Looks like we're in for a treat tonight."

He wasn't worried about the wild vegetables being problematic, after all, it was Guangyou.

If it were someone else, like Ayumi or the others, he would definitely pay more attention.

"Don't just stand there, come and help me wash them." Seeing that Conan was so free, Kōyū handed Conan most of the wild vegetables he was holding.

“Okay,” Conan replied, taking the wild vegetables.

The two then went to the river and washed the wild vegetables with the river water.

The air was filled with a rich curry aroma. When Kōyū smelled it, he looked up and glanced in Ai's direction.

"Let's go." Conan washed the wild vegetables that Kousuke had handed him, then stood up and called to Kousuke.

Meanwhile, Kōyū had already washed the wild vegetables; he had been waiting for Conan.

After all, there is a difference in skill level between people who cook frequently and those who don't.

"Mm." Kōyū nodded.

...

"Try it and see how it tastes?" Ai said, handing the ladle she was holding to Mitsuyu as he walked up to her.

"I'll give it a try." As he took the ladle, he handed the wild vegetables in his hand to Ai, and then lifted the lid of the pot.

Instantly, the long-suppressed white steam, carrying billowing heat, rose from the pot.

After the white steam dissipated a little, Guangyou scooped up a little curry, brought it to his lips, blew on it to cool it down, and then drank it.

"It's delicious." Guangyou nodded after swallowing, and said affirmatively.

"I want to try it too!" Genta said, pointing to himself after hearing Kōyū's words. "Let me try it too!"

“If we let Genta taste it, the food might be reduced by half,” Mitsuhiko said, glancing at Genta beside him with his crescent-shaped eyes.

"So you can't let him taste it."

"Why are you saying this to me..." Genta seemed to know that this might happen. Although he didn't back down, his tone wasn't entirely certain.

“That’s true.” Mitsuhiko continued, “Genta, you should just wait until everyone starts eating together. Don’t even think about it now.”

"Then hurry up, I'm already starving." Yuan Tai didn't argue; he rubbed his stomach and said.

"Genta, didn't you just have ice cream?" Mitsuhiko said, pointing to the empty ice cream box next to him.

"But I'm not full yet," Genta said, sitting back down against the tree trunk when he realized he couldn't sample the food.

"Then I'll go and call those two ladies over," Ayumi said, standing up. "Once everyone's here, we'll eat."

While speaking, Ayumi noticed Kousuke's expression and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw him nod at her.

"Yay!" Genta raised his hand and cheered.

"Let's go together, Ai..."

As she spoke, Ayumi subconsciously turned to look at Ai. The moment she saw Ai, the smile on her face became somewhat unnatural.

The name lingered in her mouth for a long time, but Ayumi just couldn't say it.

"Alas...alas..."

Because she had discussed this with Kousuke before, Ai remembered what they had been talking about when she heard this voice.

At the same time, she looked at Ayumi.

"If there were lots of ice cream, everyone would be so happy, right?" Ayumi felt Ai's gaze, hesitated for a moment, then forced a smile and said.

"Yes." Ai looked at Ayumi, thought for a moment, and then replied calmly.

She could naturally tell that Ayumi had something on her mind, and after her discussion with Mitsuyu that afternoon, Ai already had a vague guess in her mind.

That fleeting feeling seemed to resurface in her mind, but Ai felt as if it were covered by a layer of dust, leaving her still unsure of the reason.

"Ai, come help me with something." Kōyū, unaware of this, said to Ai when he saw that she had nothing to do.

"Okay." Ai responded, then put the matter aside and turned to help Kousuke.

Seeing Ai look away, Ayumi sighed softly, murmuring with a hint of self-reproach, "Ayumi, why can't you just say it..."

This wasn't the first time this had happened, so Ayumi quickly composed herself, clenching her fists as if to encourage herself.

"You must say it next time!"

After encouraging herself, Ayumi headed towards Paradise Haruka.

...

"Oh, this curry is great, it's delicious." Reiji Fukuura said in surprise after taking a bite of the curry, "I really didn't expect this."

"This wild vegetable soup smells really good too," Iai Takuto remarked, appreciating the aroma emanating from the soup.

"Let's also have our head chef try it."

Reiji Fukuura's reminder made Takuto Iiji suddenly realize that he hadn't seen their head chef, Yasumi Shirafuji, for quite some time.

Looking up and glancing around, Iihe Takuto asked in confusion, "Strange, where's Taimi?"

"I haven't seen her since," said Haruka Tendou, looking around. "The portable bicycle on the bus is also gone."

"Could she have ridden it away?"

“If we’re going to buy things, it’s a bit far from the foot of the mountain, so it’s perfectly normal to ride a bike there,” Fukuura Reiji said after a moment’s thought.

"Tae-mi didn't even tell us she was going shopping. If we had known she was going to buy things, we would have asked her to bring me some snacks."

However, Iiji Takuto, who was standing to the side, had a different guess.

"If I'm not mistaken, could Taimi have gone there?" Iiji Takuto said, looking down at his watch.

"The timing is just right."

"Where is that?" Ayumi didn't know "where is that", but she knew that one of her older sisters was missing, so she asked.

"Should we go and call that older sister?"

“There’s a very special spot about a five-minute drive up the mountain from here,” Takuto Iigo explained.

“I think we should do as this little girl says and go find her,” said Fukuura Reiji, glancing up the mountain. “But let’s finish dinner first before we go.”

“That makes sense. Let’s finish dinner first and then go find her.” Iihei Takuto nodded in agreement and added, “I’ll send her a text message later.”

“Alright, she’ll come over and eat if she wants to,” said Fukuura Reiji, getting up and walking towards the campervan.

"I'll go get some sushi from the car. You guys start eating first."

Seeing Fukuura Reiji leave, Tendo Haruka offered, "Let me serve you. Remember to only take what you can eat, don't waste any."
