Chapter 923 Cat Meowing Meme

"I'm back."

Pushing open the door to the third floor of the office, Kwang-yu changed into slippers and walked into the room carrying a gift bag.

"Um?"

Upon hearing Kōyū's voice, Uncle Mori shifted his gaze from the television to Kōyū at the door, finally settling on the gift bag the latter was carrying.

"Kuangyou, what did you buy this time?"

"I bought you a bottle of wine, Uncle." When Uncle Mori asked, Kōyū raised his hand and gestured to the gift bag in his hand, saying.

"What? Alcohol?!" Uncle Mori was clearly stunned for a moment. After realizing what was happening, he quickly got up and walked over to Mitsuyu.

Just then, Uncle Mori came over, and Kōyū handed him the gift bag containing the wine.

"Kuangyou, did you go to buy alcohol?" Uncle Mori didn't immediately look at the alcohol in the gift bag, but instead frowned and looked at Kuangyou.

"Yes." Guangyou nodded and explained, "Because my uncle has taken care of me for so long, I wanted to buy a bottle as a gift."

"You didn't go for a drink, did you?" Uncle Mori felt a warmth in his heart, but on the surface he still kept a straight face and said seriously.

"Guangyou, you can't drink alcohol right now, understand?"

"Don't worry, Uncle." Guangyou smiled and said, "I think the juice tastes better."

That's not entirely untrue.

He prefers fruit juice to alcohol.

"Yes, that's good to know." Uncle Mori nodded in satisfaction, and then said, "I'll accept this bottle of wine."

"Then I'll go back to my room to find Conan," Kōyū said, pointing towards his room.

"Go."

As Kōyū walked into the room, Uncle Mori looked down at the gift bag in his hand, and his originally serious face was immediately filled with a smile.

"That brat..."

Turning around and sitting back down at the table, Uncle Mori, with a sense of satisfaction, took out the wooden box from the gift bag and opened it.

"That kid's thoughtful." Uncle Mori picked up the bottle of wine from the box, examined it carefully, and said, "This wine seems pretty good. I wonder how much it costs."

He certainly wouldn't let Guangyou spend a lot of money to buy him wine.

If Guangyou gives him beer or something else inexpensive, he accepts it without feeling any pressure.

But this bottle of wine was also packaged in a special wooden box, which looked quite high-end.

Although he wasn't sure about the price of the wine, he figured it wouldn't be cheap.

"I'll have Xiaolan give this kid more pocket money later," Uncle Mori muttered to himself as he carefully placed the wine back into the wooden box and closed the lid.

For him, this bottle of wine held more significance than the wine itself.

"Put it away." Uncle Mori put the box back in the gift bag, stood up, and placed the gift bag in the cabinet next to him.

...

Back in his room, Kōyū put the gift bag on his bed, looked at Conan sitting at his desk reading a mystery novel, and asked...

"Conan, is your cold any better? I feel like it's getting worse."

"I just took some medicine, I should be fine in a couple of days," Conan said, wiping his nose with a tissue. "It's nothing serious."

"You should get some rest." Kōyū took the clothes that Ai had picked out for him out of the gift bag, tidied them up, and put them in his wardrobe.

"Otherwise, it wouldn't be good if they got a fever."

Although Kouyu usually likes to tease Conan, he still cares about him at times like this.

After all, if Conan really got sick, he wouldn't be able to enjoy teasing Conan anymore, which would be a big deal.

Of course, this was just Kwang-woo joking.

"I understand, thank you for your concern." Conan sniffed and nodded in response.

"Be careful these next couple of days." Guangyou finished tidying his clothes, picked up another gift bag, and left the room.

The gift bag naturally contained the outfit that was meant for Xiaolan.

Xiaolan was tidying up the kitchen just now, so he didn't give her the clothes.

When Guangyou arrived at the kitchen door, he saw Xiaolan wearing an apron and tidying up the kitchen.

Seeing that she seemed to be taking a while to finish packing, Guangyou turned around and went back to his room, put down the gift bag, grabbed a set of pajamas, and prepared to take a shower first.

Before taking a shower, Kōyū picked up his phone and sent a text message to Ai:

"I've arrived at the office. You should get some sleep."

A dozen seconds later, Kōyū received a reply from Ai:

"I know, you should go to sleep early too. I'll read for a little while longer and then go."

After replying with an "Mm," Guangyou put away his phone, opened the door to his room, went into the bathroom, filled the tub with water, took off his clothes, and lay down in the bathtub.

"Ah...that feels so good..."

Immersed in the comfortably warm water, Guangyou rested his head on the edge of the bathtub, closed his eyes, and recalled the events of the past two days.

There's not much to say about that case.

In short, it's about a tragic incident that occurs when a person with a distorted view of friendship due to low self-esteem meets two people who treat friendship as a transaction.

At this moment, Kōyū was thinking about the topics that Conan and Professor Agasa had discussed on the Beetle.

It's about his father-in-law, Atsushi Miyano, and the "woman who's afraid of cats" that Professor Agasa mentioned.

The woman who was afraid of cats, Kōyū knew that the woman was Vermouth, Conan and Ran's godmother.

But that cat... Kōyū really doesn't know.

After thinking it over carefully, Guangyou remembered that this issue had been discussed online before.

However, no definitive answer was reached during the discussion.

The so-called "cat meowing trope" refers to this very thing.

Some say that the gentleman owned a cat, and the cat's meows meant that the gentleman had arrived when Vermouth made the phone call.
