Chapter 929 Heading to Karuizawa

Pushing open the door to the third floor, Guangyou changed into slippers, walked into the room, and called out, "Sister Xiaolan, we're back."

"Welcome home." Ran came out of her room and asked with concern, "How are you? Is Conan's illness serious?"

“It’s not serious.” Guangyou waved his hand and said, “He just caught a cold a couple of days ago and has a low-grade fever. It’s not serious.”

"Sister Ran, don't worry." Conan said as he entered the room, "The doctor has prescribed some medicine for me, and I'll be fine after resting for a couple of days."

"That's good." Ran breathed a sigh of relief, then, remembering Sonoko's invitation, she asked, "By the way, Sonoko said she's going on vacation to Karuizawa, are you going?"

"Going on vacation to Karuizawa?" Kōyū knew the place. After considering for a moment, he nodded and replied, "I'll go."

Karuizawa has been a representative summer resort in Japan since the late 19th century, and Kōyū is certainly aware of this.

Furthermore, Karuizawa is Japan's most famous luxury villa district and a gathering place for the upper class.

It is said that a certain emperor met his life partner here.

"Then, Kousuke, you can ask Ai if she's going or not," Ran added.

"Okay, I'll ask her when she's free later," Guangyou nodded and said.

"Ran-neechan, I want to go too!" Conan initially didn't want to go, but when he remembered that it was Sonoko who suggested the vacation, he immediately changed his mind.

"Conan..."

Looking at Conan, Ran considered for a moment and then said, "That's possible, but if Conan's illness hasn't improved by tomorrow, you'll have to stay home and rest."

"Yes!" Conan nodded.

"Sister Xiaolan, if there's nothing else, I'll head back to my room now," Guangyou said, thinking about the "family photo."

"Okay, go ahead," Xiaolan nodded in response.

After saying goodbye to Xiaolan, Guangyou returned to his room to continue working on the "family photo".

...

For the entire afternoon, Guangyou's mind was focused on that "family photo".

There's no rush to color; Guangyou is constantly refining the line art.

He often just looked at the line drawings without actually writing anything.

In his eyes, there wasn't much left to modify in the painting, but Guangyou still didn't pick up his colored pencils to add color.

He had already made up his mind in the afternoon. After a while, he would take the painting and go to see Mingmei.

After consulting with Mingmei, he refined the painting again before adding color.

During that afternoon, Guangyou simply passed the time while looking at the painting to see if there were any details that could be added or modified.

...

Guangyou closed his notebook and put it back on his pillow only when the last rays of the setting sun shone into the room through the window.

"This girl should be resting now." Guangyou checked the time, took out his phone to send a text message to Xiao Ai, telling her to take care of herself and get some rest.

I'll ask her if she wants to go on vacation to Karuizawa together tomorrow.

Shortly after sending the text message, Kōyū received two text messages from Ai:

Article 1:

"I'm already resting [Image]"

Just like when he texted Ai Haibara that afternoon, he sent her a picture of a menu, and Ai Haibara also attached a picture to that text message.

The photo shows a cup of steaming milk.

Article 2:

"Then I'll come see you tomorrow."

"Okay, then let's agree on that."

The topic of vacation ended there. Instead of talking to Ran, Kōyū started a new conversation with Ai.

...

The following morning, the weather was sunny and the temperature was comfortable.

Downstairs at the office, Uncle Mori put his luggage in the trunk of his car and called up to the office building, "Ran, hurry up, it's already way too late!"

"Okay! I'll be right down!" Xiaolan's voice came from the third floor of the office.

"Really!" Uncle Mori scratched his head and complained.

"Uncle, it's okay!" Sonoko turned around and comforted him with a smile, "Don't be so angry, it wasn't that late."

"When did I, the great detective Kogoro Mouri, end up having to be a driver for young girls like you?" Uncle Mouri complained as he walked to the front door of the car.

Suddenly remembering something, Uncle Mori stopped and asked, "Speaking of which, doesn't the Suzuki Group employ drivers?"

"I don't want those drivers to take me!" Sonoko explained, leaning on the car seat with one hand. "It's a rare opportunity to go out and have fun, I don't want to drive those kinds of cars..."

"..." Uncle Mori's lips trembled twice, but in the end he didn't say anything.

As expected of the heiress of the Suzuki Group, she actually looked down on that kind of luxury car.

"Besides, if my family's driver takes us there, it feels like we're being watched," Sonoko continued, oblivious to this point.

"I don't want to do that; it's not fun at all."

"So that's how it is..." Uncle Mori couldn't understand the thought process of these rich people. They could have hired a driver, but they refused.

Without intending to ask too many questions, Uncle Mori said this, opened the car door, and sat in the driver's seat.

“Yes, that’s right.” Sonoko nodded in agreement.

"Oh, right." As Uncle Mori fastened his seatbelt, he suddenly remembered that Conan's cold was still not better, and reminded him in advance.

"There's a little rascal who hasn't recovered from his cold yet, so you have to be careful not to catch it from him."

"Is Conan's cold still not better?" Sonoko's smile faded. She had learned about Conan's cold and fever from Ran last night.
