In this prime of youth, Qian Xi does not regret meeting Chen Wenzhi at all.
The heartless top student x the dedicated, shy little sweetheart.
In the past, it seemed he never cared about...
"Ying Qian, you go with Wen Zinan." The class monitor had long been fed up with these two who were always chatting.
But there was nothing they could do. They had to be mindful of social etiquette, and neither of them were easy to offend. It was just the right time to kick them out, which would make the class a little easier to manage.
The motion-activated lights in the hallway were intermittently working and malfunctioning. Ying Qian suspected that the lights were giving her a hard time. The lights went out as soon as she stepped onto the first step.
"Hey! Hey!" Wen Zinan started yelling, but it had no effect; the light still wouldn't turn on.
With the help of the streetlights outside, I could barely see the road.
Wen Zinan asked, "Can I borrow your coat? I'm so cold."
Ying Qian was taken aback. "Did we switch our lines? Do you want to hear what you're saying?" As she spoke, she wrapped her coat tighter around herself. "I'm so cold too, I'm definitely not giving it to you."
Wen Zinan didn't care about her answer, shrank his neck and continued, "I must bring warm clothes when I come back next week. This life of spring during the day and winter at night is too hard to bear."
As Ying Qian went downstairs, she was already wondering if she would run into Chen Wenzhi since she was on the first floor.
Once we got to the first floor, the view became much brighter.
When the wind blew, Wen Zinan shivered uncontrollably.
Ying Qian glanced at him and realized he was only wearing his school uniform jacket. She was genuinely puzzled: "Won't you be showing too much if you unzip your jacket?"
He sincerely explained, "The weather has been terrible lately, so my clothes haven't dried yet, and I don't even have any socks to wear."
"Awesome." Ying Qian silently gave a thumbs up. What she really cared about was, "You can even do laundry? I never knew! Wen Zinan."
"Actually, Chen Wenzhi also washes clothes every day, but I don't know if he can get them done."
A faint smile appeared on Ying Qian's face. She lowered her eyes and couldn't help but wonder: Could he wash the clothes clean?
The classrooms on the first floor were all watching movies, but quite a few students were also secretly doing their homework under the lights.
After all, the motto of science students at No. 3 High School is: If you're going to do something, do it the best.
Ying Qian didn't think Chen Wenzhi necessarily thought the same way.
I walked with a smile to the main office, where a group of students were gathered around a desk, distributing exam papers.
"Has Wenyi arrived yet?" someone asked again.
"Here I am!" Wen Zinan rushed into the office and shouted.
Ying Qian lowered her head, unwilling to face the gazes falling upon her.
Chen Wenzhi was also there. He pulled the boy next to him aside and whispered, "We're short one person to distribute the math papers. Let that girl from Wenyi do it."
The boy gave her a meaningful look, then carefully examined Ying Qian's appearance. He thought she was a pretty ordinary girl, but he still agreed, "You've already given the order, can't I lend a hand?"
Then he casually said, "Um, we're short-handed for the math test. Could that girl from Wenyi who just arrived come and help out?"
Upon hearing this, Ying Qian squeezed through the crowded throng and naturally saw Chen Wenzhi, who wasn't focused on distributing papers either.
"I knew you'd be here too!" She picked up a stack of papers and blinked her right eye. "What a coincidence, it's my turn to hand out the math papers today."
Chen Wenzhi suppressed a laugh and said, "Yes."
“Hey, shouldn’t we pretend we don’t know each other?” She paid special attention to the surrounding gazes and quietly moved closer to Chen Wenzhi. “I feel like we’re getting too close and attracting attention.”
Chen Wenzhi frowned, his expression remaining relatively calm: "Whatever you want. If you don't want to be too conspicuous, we'll stay in the shadows..." He hesitated for a moment before adding, "But you must understand, secrets can't stay hidden forever."
He gently touched Ying Qian's hand, but Ying Qian grabbed his hand in return, hiding it under the noisy and messy math answer sheet, without even exchanging glances.
Some may have glimpsed the intense emotions churning within this darkness, but what does it matter? Perhaps at this age, having someone you like isn't a wrong thing.
School let out early in the evening, and the group in the first-floor office hadn't finished distributing the exam papers yet. Teachers who had been grading papers in the school's computer lab returned in twos and threes. The headmaster criticized, "You guys aren't distributing papers, you're practically chatting!" After a quick glance, considering that the number of papers that had been distributed wasn't too small, he ordered, "Um, just have a few people deliver the answer sheets for the humanities and science sections to the corresponding classes. The rest of the students can go home now. Those who haven't finished can come back for morning reading tomorrow."
The students fled the scene one after another. Outside were the various class lines, so they didn't need to worry about following the lines and walked in twos and threes.
Ying Qian was originally following Chen Wenzhi when Wen Zinan suddenly interrupted, "Hey, why are you still tailing me?"
Chen Wenzhi turned around, saw the boy's appearance clearly, and then caught a glimpse of Ying Qian's gaze. She smiled slightly and then ignored her.
Upon hearing this smile, Wen Zinan said, "Look at him, he's still smiling at you. I bet he has ulterior motives towards you!"
Upon reaching the back gate, ignoring Wen Zinan's nonsensical analysis, Ying Qian abandoned him, crossed the road, and ran into the girls' dormitory.
There weren't many girls in the dorm, but it was very noisy. Cockroaches and centipedes would occasionally appear, so the dorm would hold a "soprano" competition.
The last savior is invariably the dormitory supervisor.
There are six of us in the dorm, and we get along quite well. We're great at being food buddies and bathroom buddies, but if anything serious happens, we still have to rely on our best friends.
As soon as Ying Qian returned, someone asked, "Is Xu Tiantian dead? Why isn't she back yet? The milk she left on my bed is almost fermenting!"
The girl opened the milk cap, saw the floating lumps, and let out a sharp scream.
