I'm Raising a Child in an Apocalyptic Novel

Liu Anran woke up to find she had transmigrated into a post-apocalyptic novel, becoming a cannon fodder female supporting character. Not only was her golden finger snatched away, but even her own s...

Chapter 4 Liu Anran was scratched

Liu Anran carried Yunlong on her back and ran faster, bypassing the gatekeeper and running out of the community. She immediately saw a car parked not far away with the door open. Her face lit up with joy. It was truly a case of heaven never closing off all doors. Now she was saved.

The roar of zombies came from behind her. Liu Anran turned her head and saw that, holy crap! More than a dozen zombies were chasing after her. Liu Anran used all her strength to run towards the car.

Finally reaching the car, Liu Anran's eyes lit up, and she exclaimed happily, "Yunlong, we've saved him!"

Liu Anran got into the car, closed the door, and started the engine, only to find that it wouldn't start; the car was out of gas.

"Holy crap!" Liu Anran slammed her fist on the steering wheel in anger. Looking through the windshield at the zombies wandering the street, she saw that the zombies in the distance had stopped and looked around when they heard the noise. The zombies near the car and those chasing her were roaring as they approached the car.

Liu Anran didn't dare to delay for a moment and got out of the car and ran, with the zombies in hot pursuit.

The zombies in the distance saw Liu Anran and walked towards her.

Liu Anran ran forward with trepidation, running desperately. Sweat streamed down her forehead, but she didn't bother to wipe it away. She wanted to live, she didn't want to tear the zombies apart, and she didn't want to become a zombie herself.

Liu Anran noticed that there were the fewest zombies on the left, so she turned around and ran to the left.

Suddenly, a car came from a distance, smashing into the zombie blocking its way, and the car drove over the zombie.

Yunlong's eyes lit up as he looked at the car expectantly, hoping the people inside could save them. However, the car did not stop as it passed by them, and the light in Yunlong's eyes dimmed.

Liu Anran looked at the car and her eyes met those of a beautiful woman. The woman saw Liu Anran carrying a child and fighting zombies, and a look of surprise appeared on her face, but she then coldly looked away.

Liu Anran didn't shout for help because she knew that the people in the car wouldn't risk getting out to save them.

Seeing the zombie rushing towards her, Liu Anran mustered her courage and swung her stick hard at the zombie's head, then kicked it in the stomach, causing the zombie to fall to the ground.

Another zombie attacked her. Liu Anran tilted her head, and the zombie's pale hand brushed past her cheek. She kicked the zombie, and it staggered from the kick.

Liu Anran pressed her attack, raising her baseball bat and striking the zombie hard on the head. The bat struck the zombie's head, splattering black blood onto her and Yunlong's bodies and faces.

Liu Anran didn't have time to comfort Yunlong, nor did she have time to wipe the blood off her face.

As another zombie roared and lunged at her, she numbly swung her baseball bat, relying on instinct to survive.

She had only one thought in her mind: she didn't want to die, and she couldn't die!

A young man sitting in the car looked at the young man driving, his face filled with reluctance. "Brother Qiang, are we really not going to save that woman? She has a child with her. Isn't it too cruel to just watch her die?"

The beautiful woman looked at the young man with displeasure. "Li Tianyi, if you want to save her, go save her yourself. We don't want to risk saving a complete stranger."

Looking at the woman's cold-blooded and ruthless demeanor, Li Tianyi asked, "Bai Lu, you are also a woman. Aren't you afraid that one day you will encounter danger and others will abandon you to your fate?"

"I'm not afraid. If I die, it's my fate," Bai Lu said coldly.

For some reason, Bai Lu felt a strong aversion to Liu Anran and simply didn't want to save her.

Li Tianyi looked at Wang Qiang, who was driving, and pleaded, "Brother Qiang, let's go save her. For the sake of the child, please save her, okay?"

Li Tianyi could never forget the child in the woman's arms. He didn't cry or scream, and when he saw them, the light in his eyes was a longing for life.

He must have desperately wanted the car to stop and save him and his mother!

When he saw them stand by and do nothing, the light in his eyes was replaced by despair.

“Okay, I can go back and rescue her, but she can’t come with us,” Wang Qiang said.

Li Tianyi was overjoyed and said happily, "We can put her in a safe place."

"I disagree," Bai Lu firmly objected.

"The minority must submit to the majority; opposition is invalid," Li Tianyi said.

Wang Qiang turned the car around and drove back, but he didn't see Liu Anran. Instead, he saw five zombie corpses lying on the ground, surrounded by bloodstains and a child's shoe. There were also many zombies standing around, making hoarse roars, which was terrifying.

"Where is he?! He's gone!" Li Tianyi asked in confusion.

“They escaped!” Wang Qiang said.

“That woman is carrying a child, there’s no way she can escape safely. Even if she and her child don’t die, they might get scratched. We should leave quickly to avoid the sound of the car attracting zombies and getting attacked by them,” Bai Lu urged, her voice carrying a hint of schadenfreude and excitement.

Wang Qiang's eyes flickered, a hint of wariness in them. He knew he had to stay away from Bai Lu from now on.

Li Tianyi said, "It's all your fault. If you hadn't stopped them, the mother and child wouldn't have gotten into trouble."

“We have the right to refuse, and we didn’t stop you. You’re the one who insisted on dragging us down with you to our deaths,” Bai Lu retorted emphatically.

Wang Qiang remained silent, started the car, and quickly left the place of trouble.

Liu Anran sat in a small supermarket, her face pale, clutching the wound on her chest. Blood seeped from between her fingers, and she was breathing heavily.

Looking at the wound on Liu Anran's chest, Yunlong asked fearfully, "Mom, you're bleeding?"

"Yunlong, don't make a sound, it will attract zombies," Liu Anran said, panting.

Yunlong covered his mouth, his eyes brimming with tears. Why did everyone else have a father to protect them, but he and his mother didn't? If he had a father, his father would definitely protect him and his mother, and his mother wouldn't have gotten hurt.

Liu Anran glanced at the small supermarket. Because it was close to the residential area, it didn't have any food or daily necessities inside, only a few packs of toilet paper and about ten packs of sanitary napkins.

Disappointed, Liu Anran withdrew her gaze, put the toilet paper and sanitary napkins into her spatial storage, and then took Yunlong into the space.

As soon as Liu Anran entered the space, she untied her backpack, put Yunlong down, and said to Yunlong, "Yunlong, open your backpack and get Mom a bottle of water."

Yunlong immediately unzipped his backpack, took out a bottle of water, and handed it to Liu Anran.

Liu Anran unscrewed the bottle cap and rinsed the wound directly with the bottle opening. The bottle of water was used up quickly, and Yunlong took out another bottle of water and handed it to Liu Anran.

Liu Anran used three bottles of water to rinse the wound, then pointed to the well and instructed Yunlong: "If you are thirsty, drink the well water, but don't make the well water dirty. If you are hungry, eat peaches and apples. If you are sleepy, lie down and sleep."

After Liu Anran finished speaking, she looked at the wound on her chest. There was a high possibility that she would become a zombie after being scratched by a zombie. What would Yunlong do if she became a zombie?

The novel mentions that Chu Yunxiao met Yunlong in a small supermarket. Could it be that after the female supporting character died, Yunlong ran out and met Chu Yunxiao in this small supermarket?

Is the female supporting character in the book destined to die?

But why should she die, and why should Yunlong die? She was not satisfied.

Liu Anran looked at the pile of things about ten feet away, and with a thought, a cup appeared in her hand. She handed the cup to Yunlong and said, "Yunlong, take this cup and fetch a cup of water for your mother from the well."

Yunlong picked up the cup and ran to the well, filled it with water for Liu Anran, and carefully approached her.

"Mom, here, the water's here."

Liu Anran took the cup and drank the water in one gulp. Yunlong asked, "Mom, do you want more water?"

"No more drinking. Eat something, fill the bottle with water in a cup, and then go lie down and rest," Liu Anran instructed.

"Okay," Yunlong said sensibly, but his eyes were filled with tension and unease.

Liu Anran first tied her feet, then ordered Yunlong to tie her hands, then closed her eyes, tears streaming down her face.

Why is fate so unfair? Why is it so hard to live?
