One day, her best friend rushed over, holding her phone as if something major had happened: Zhen Tian, your man is on a matchmaking website!
Zhen Tian: ???
Another day, after attending ...
Zhen Tian opened her mouth: "Why should I keep it? I can't do it well."
"Because from now on, you'll be in charge of keeping me safe too." Ji Yuzhi said this without changing his expression, but the gentle look in his eyes revealed a lot.
She looked at Ji Yuzhi, and just as Ji Yuzhi was about to blush, Zhen Tian nodded with a bright smile: "Okay, I will definitely take good care of Zhizhi."
"Silly boy."
Ji Yuzhi smiled.
When couples meet after a long time apart, the time they spend together feels like it was stolen away.
They could talk animatedly even in an empty room, though it was usually Zhen Tian who was doing the talking.
After taking her out for dinner, Ji Yuzhi took her back to school.
"Sweetie?"
"Um?"
Zhen Tian stood on the food street outside the school, buying food for her roommates.
"I have a meeting tomorrow. Be good at school."
"Yes, I know." Zhen Tian asked, carrying the food, "Which city are we going to this time?"
"Not going anywhere, just staying in this city."
"Since I'm not doing military training anyway, can't you take me with you?"
Ji Yuzhi shook his head: "This situation is special, I don't have time to keep an eye on you."
"Okay." Zhen Tian picked up her backpack: "Anyway, all your belongings are with me. If you do anything to betray me, I'll donate the money and run away."
He found it amusing and pinched Zhen Tian's cheek: "You don't need to run away, I'll leave with nothing."
"Huh? So you're saying you're going to do something to betray me?" Zhen Tian raised her eyes, her face puffed up with anger.
"Didn't you say so?" Ji Yuzhi laughed heartily.
"That was a metaphor. I can use metaphors, but you can't. If you say it, it means you have a plan." Zhen Tian snorted. "I'm going to tell Aunt Liu and Dad Ji."
“You have my family, where else can I run to?”
Ji Yuzhi grabbed her and kissed her on the corner of her mouth: "Let's go back, something's up..."
"I'll call you." Zhen Tian continued, "I know, you should go home too, it's late, get some rest. Love you."
She jogged to the dormitory entrance and blew a kiss to Ji Yuzhi.
After a smooth journey back to her dorm, Zhen Tian carried a bunch of snacks in her hands: "I'm back!"
The three of them were sitting at their respective tables, each doing something else.
"Wow, you bought so much food? Can you finish it all?" Yang Tao was attracted by the aroma.
"I bought it for you guys. Didn't I say I'd bring you some food?"
"Waaaaah, Sweetie, you're so kind!" Yang Tao dragged her chair and sat down at the big table in the middle of the dorm room. "Barbecued crayfish and classic grilled cold noodles rolled with stinky tofu, they're all my favorites."
"Weiwei, Yaya, come here." Zhen Tian put down her bag and called to the other two, "We ate dinner too late and didn't know what to bring you. So we just bought some things at the entrance."
Jiang Wei and Jin Yaya also dragged their chairs over; no one can resist the temptation of barbecue, right?
"Did you have fun with your boyfriend?" Yang Tao teased Zhen Tian even with her mouth full of oil.
"That's great. Did you have military training today?"
At this point, all three of them lost their appetite.
"Don't even mention it, it's infuriating! This is pouring rain, and they turned it into some kind of extreme weather training exercise. Did they really think we were soldiers?" Jin Yaya threw the crayfish's head into the trash can with a loud thud. The force was evident.
"Huh? We still have to scold you in the rain?" Zhen Tian had never heard of such a situation before. "Did you take a hot shower? I have some ginger tea, do you want some?"
She asked the question, but then went straight to the cabinet and started rummaging through it.
“We’ve already drunk. Don’t bother looking for us,” Yang Tao called to her.
“Yes, we bought it.” Jiang Wei nodded.
“Okay, then you can talk to me.” Zhen Tiantian nodded.
She didn't like drinking these things and was eager to get rid of them. She had only drunk them because her period started during her last trip to S City, and Zhizhi had pressured her to.
"Ten more days... how am I going to get through this military training...?"
Intermittent wails echoed from inside the dormitory.
"Sweetie, where do you feel unwell?" Jiang Wei asked softly, her eyes lowered.
"Um?"
“You’re exempt from military training. I heard that our school has stricter requirements for military training, and they don’t usually allow leave for minor issues.”
"Oh, it's nothing really. It's just that my brothers and uncles are making a fuss. I did military training in high school too."
"Ah." Jiang Wei sensed that she didn't want to talk about it, so she didn't ask any further.
Military training is inherently a tedious and lengthy process.
Zhen Tian has nothing to do every day. Sometimes she goes to Ji Yuzhi's studio for a while, but most of the time she stays in her dormitory watching dramas and variety shows.
But her roommates weren't as carefree as her; they were too tired to even talk about it when they came back each day.
It happened to be a sunny day, with the outdoor temperature reaching a high of 34 degrees Celsius. The scorching sun seemed to be baking the ground.
Zhen Tian hid in her air-conditioned dorm room, glanced at the sunlight outside, and after thinking for a moment, put on her clothes and went out.
She carried the iced drinks she had bought and searched the playground for quite a while.
I didn't see my roommate, but I saw Ye Qingyan first.
Ye Qingyan's team was still practicing military posture, so they couldn't greet Zhen Tian even if they saw her. She kept giving Zhen Tian meaningful glances.
Zhen Tian smiled, pointed to the drink in her hand, and placed it under the shade of a tree for her.
She finally spotted Yang Tao and the others, separated by two lines.
"Rest where you are."
Just then, their coach called a halt. Zhen Tian, seeing that the coach wasn't looking, secretly moved closer.
"Sweetie, what brings you here?" Yang Tao was the first to notice her.
Zhen Tian gestured for her to shush, then handed her the cold drink in her hand.
"Waaaaah, I'm about to cry my eyes out again." Yang Tao felt waves of happiness wash over her as she touched the cool glass.
Sweetie smiled and handed the rest of the food to Jiang Wei and Jin Yaya.
"Hurry up and drink, you must be dying of heat today." During the military training, the only thing to do during rest periods was to sit on the ground, so Zhen Tian squatted down next to them and talked to them.
"It's so hot!" Jin Yaya lifted her clothes and fanned herself.
"Are these your friends?" asked the girls who got along well during military training. "That's so nice of you, they even brought you drinks."
“Yes, it’s my roommate.” Yang Tao nodded, with a hint of pride.
"Roommate? Is that Zhen Tian from our department who didn't come to military training?" The girl who asked the question turned to look at Zhen Tian in surprise: "Didn't they say she couldn't come to military training because of health issues?"
Zhen Tian smiled slightly, ignoring her exaggerated reaction and scrutinizing gaze.
"There are a few reasons, I suppose." Yang Tao hesitated and shifted her gaze, "Sweetie, it's hot, you should go back quickly, or you'll feel uncomfortable later."
Yang Tao winked at Zhen Tian, signaling her to leave quickly and avoid causing controversy.
Jiang Wei also spoke softly: "Yes, it's fine normally, but it wouldn't be good if I felt unwell later."
