Chapter 26 Panacea

"Xu Mo, you should eat something too."

Amy spoke softly, her voice filled with tenderness and concern. She bit her lower lip slightly, and her hands holding the plate tightened slightly due to nervousness, her knuckles turning white. As Xu Mo monitored his surroundings, Amy's voice came from behind him.

Xu Mo was concentrating on observing the surroundings. When he heard the familiar voice, he was slightly startled and then slowly put down the telescope. He turned around very quietly, for fear of disturbing anything. Xu Mo put down the telescope and looked behind him. Amy was carrying a plate of food.

What caught his eye was Amy's cautious expression, her hair fluttering gently in the night breeze. She struggled to maintain her balance, steadily walking towards Xu Mo, her eyes filled with a hint of nervousness and anticipation. Xu Mo glanced at the food on the plate, which looked like canned meat or something.

Xu Mo leaned forward slightly, examining the food on the plate. In the dim light, he squinted and carefully examined it, judging by its shape. He determined it was probably canned meat. In the apocalypse, having meat to eat was good, even if it was canned.

Xu Mo sighed silently in his heart. In the end times, food resources are extremely scarce. Canned meat is a rare delicacy. A trace of relief flashed in his eyes. Xu Mo did not despise it. He nodded and took the food handed to him by Amy.

He smiled and nodded at Amy, his eyes full of gratitude. When he took the plate, his fingers accidentally touched Amy's hand. They were both slightly startled. Amy's face instantly turned red and she quickly lowered her head. While eating the canned meat on the plate, Xu Mo also glanced at Amy beside him, and suddenly remembered something in his mind.

While chewing, Xu Mo turned his head to look at Amy. The moonlight shone on Amy's face, outlining her soft outline. This scene made Xu Mo suddenly have an idea in his mind. Swallowing the food in his mouth, Xu Mo looked at Amy and said, "Amy, today is your birthday, right?"

Xu Mo swallowed the food in his mouth, cleared his throat, and looked at Amy with a hint of anticipation in his eyes. His voice was very soft, but it was particularly clear in the quiet night. "Birthday?" Amy was slightly stunned, and then she thought of something. She looked at Xu Mo with some surprise and asked, "Today is indeed my birthday. How did you know!?"

Amy's eyes widened, a look of disbelief written all over her face. Her eyes were filled with curiosity, trying to find the answer from Xu Mo's expression, and her body unconsciously leaned forward towards Xu Mo. "Did Andrea tell you that?" Xu Mo was about to speak when Amy immediately added.

Amy asked eagerly, her eyes twinkling. She nervously waited for Xu Mo's answer, her hands unconsciously clenching the corners of her clothes. "Yeah." Xu Mo nodded: "Andrea told me yesterday."

Xu Mo smiled and nodded, answering directly. His eyes were gentle, and seeing Amy's surprised expression, he felt a little warm in his heart. Amy smiled and said, "If you hadn't told me, I wouldn't have noticed that today is my birthday. In the past, my parents always celebrated my birthday with me."

Amy smiled softly, but there was a hint of loneliness in her smile. She lowered her head slightly, her eyes revealing a nostalgia for the past, and her thoughts seemed to drift back to the past. As soon as she finished speaking, Amy became lost and sad. She looked at Xu Mo with red eyes and said:

Amy's eyes instantly turned red, tears welling up in them. She raised her head, her eyes filled with helplessness and sadness, staring at Xu Mo closely, as if grasping at the last straw. "Xu Mo, you said my parents... I mean, they're in Florida." "Is the situation in Florida not as serious as here?"

Amy's voice was trembling with tears. Her eyes were full of expectation, longing for Xu Mo to give her a positive answer. Her hands unconsciously clasped together in prayer. Xu Mo did not answer, put the plate aside, and then hugged Amy into his arms.

A flicker of helplessness and heartache flashed across Xu Mo's eyes. He gently set the plate down, his movements slow and gentle, then opened his arms and pulled Amy into a tight embrace, as if to dispel all her fears with his embrace. He couldn't answer this question; after all, there was no Florida plot in the original novel.

Xu Mo sighed inwardly, his brow furrowed slightly. He knew Amy's pain at the moment, but he couldn't offer a definitive answer. He felt a sense of conflict and helplessness. Furthermore, this disaster was global in scope. It affected not just the United States, but the entire world. Florida was likely no better off than Georgia.

Xu Mo's eyes revealed a hint of determination and helplessness. He looked into the distance, as if he saw scenes of disasters all over the world. He knew that Florida was likely in crisis as well. He wiped away the tears from Amy's eyes and spoke to her comfortingly:

Xu Mo lowered his head slightly, his eyes filled with tenderness. He gently raised his hand and wiped away the tears from the corners of Amy's eyes with his thumb, his movements so gentle that he seemed afraid to break a piece of precious porcelain. "Don't you still have Andrea and me?" "And you're right, your parents may still be alive." "Once we're completely settled, I'll take you sisters to visit Florida."

Xu Mo's voice was deep and powerful, each word carrying a soothing force. His eyes were firm, as if promising Amy that he would take her to find her parents. As Amy listened, the fear in her heart gradually dissipated, replaced by a glimmer of hope. Hearing these words, Amy felt a warmth in her heart, and her lost mood eased considerably.

A trace of emotion and relief flashed in Amy's eyes. She raised her head slightly and looked into Xu Mo's eyes. The corners of her mouth unconsciously rose, revealing a faint smile. She looked up at Xu Mo's face and kissed him without hesitation.
