How should I put it? This is a story about a dumb protagonist who transmigrates to another world, gains superpowers, and then lives a lazy life, interspersed with a bunch of weird things that pop u...
As the two men engaged in a confrontation, Jiang Ling, sitting at the stone platform, actually developed a huge appetite, and she devoured all the snacks in front of her. This was probably the joy of watching tigers fight from a mountaintop, and of course, it also stemmed from the curiosity of living creatures.
"Bang~" The quarrel between the two ended with a knife-like blow. Jiang Ling felt that the blow could probably split an ordinary person in half.
The white-haired loli squatted on the ground with her head in her arms. A big bump was visible on her head.
The nun argued furiously, her face flushing. She grabbed a jug of sparkling water from the stone table and guzzled it down before she calmed down. She initially wanted to throw the glass jug onto the stone table, but in the end, she gently placed it back down. Her expression shifted, and she apologized to Jiang Ling politely, just as she had at the beginning. "My friend, what are your thoughts?"
Jiang Ling didn't waste any more time this time. She was also afraid of retaliation from the two mutants, so she nodded in agreement and said, "Okay, but I'll decide the departure time and route!" She stood up and said, "I don't care who you're hiding from or what big things you're trying to do, just don't get involved with me. After all, I'm not a wanted criminal. I hope you won't disturb my normal life."
"Three days! We can only stay here for three days at most. If we stay longer, it will not be safe here." The Son of God replied, rubbing his head with his hands.
"It won't take that long. Well, bye then~" Jiang Ling pointed at the long tables along the way and didn't reply until she touched the door handle.
She didn't make any unnecessary fuss, retracing her route through the hotel corridors and finally exiting through the main door. She preferred interacting with the genuine people outside to those who lived behind masks. It wasn't that she was too lazy to think; it was simply too exhausting to communicate with them. The joy of intrigue only existed in games; if it spilled over into daily life, it would only lead to pain.
A cult leader who tells twelve lies in every ten sentences, a servant without a name or past. Ordinary people without abilities can't even protect their own memories. This world is crazy!
On the way back, Jiang Ling kept thinking about what had just happened. These two monsters had definitely noticed her from the beginning. They first tested her with force, and then tried to gain her trust in various ways. Although the process was a bit tortuous, Jiang Ling was not sure whether they had achieved their ultimate goal.
She realized she hadn't gathered any information for a while, which was a disadvantage for her journey. She knew so little about the cult that she couldn't tell whether the information was true or false.
"Join an organization, or establish one?" Jiang Ling immediately thought of this, "But it's so troublesome just thinking about it!"
She realized that being alone wasn't a good option, especially when it came to information exchange—individual freedom didn't guarantee information freedom. While she'd prefer to form a group, she had no experience, and her communication skills weren't great, revealing the cost of her low emotional intelligence.
"Forget it, let's talk about it later!" She decided to take it one step at a time. The outdated information on the Internet was basically enough, and the risks could be hedged by her own strength. There was no need to cause herself more trouble.
Jiang Ling stopped by the ration store to buy a few buckets of purified water, and then went straight back to her temporary residence.
The room was still the same as she'd left it, and she quickly washed up with clean water. The free tap water provided in the residential complex was actually recycled water, which sometimes had a strange smell. It wasn't a big deal if it was just for showering or washing clothes, but it was best to buy water for anything you put in your mouth.
"Shhhh." She opened a can of Green Claw and began typing a safety email to her parents: "Everything is going well, don't worry. I made some new friends and will introduce them to you later. I also made a little money, so don't forget to reply if you need any."
"Hoo~" Jiang Ling burped, leaning lazily against her chair. She crossed her legs on the table and stared out the window. It was already midnight, and the outside lights were about two-thirds out, making it slightly dim. The regularly arranged suites were painted in a variety of colors, offering a change of pace. She noticed that some people were patrolling the sidewalks; the station had clearly been targeted by some unstable element. A dull mechanical hum echoed from the distance, reverberating through the underground space, creating a unique ambient soundscape within the station.
It was a dreamless night... But in fact, Jiang Ling had only been lying down for more than two hours when she was woken up by a knock on the door. She really didn't expect that one day she would be visited by the Countermeasures Bureau.
When she opened the door, she saw two men and women in plain clothes outside, and the owner of the house was following them, nodding and bowing.
"Is there something wrong?" Jiang Ling asked.
"We are the commander of the Countermeasures Bureau stationed at NT0204. My name is Wang Dongyue." The leader was surprisingly a young woman. She pointed to the young man next to her and introduced him, "This is Hu Yang."
"Um, please come in!" Jiang Ling made way so that the two could see what was going on in the room.
"Excuse me, we would like to know what happened last night." Huyang said straight to the point, holding a tablet.
"You are talking about that..." Jiang Ling briefly described what happened and told the little information he had found out, but he omitted the content about the Son of God.
"So you're saying that the painter's memory has been modified?" Wang Dongyue touched his chin as if thinking.
"They may not be human." Jiang Ling added that the mutants that are now able to invade the human brain may not necessarily be rational.
Wang Dongyue winked at Hu Yang, who immediately understood. He revealed, "To tell you the truth! We couldn't find any information about that person. He seemed to have suddenly appeared."
