How should I put it? This is a story about a dumb protagonist who transmigrates to another world, gains superpowers, and then lives a lazy life, interspersed with a bunch of weird things that pop u...
"Pterodactyl! Why is it here?"
Changgu leaned on the windowsill of the toilet, staring at the looming figure in the sky, muttering to himself.
Just now, as the four of them hid in the toilet, the drones flew over their heads. There was no doubt that the drones must have discovered Li Wenjia and his group, but they were attracted by the mutants with higher priority.
Li Wenjia used the sunlight shining through the clouds to see clearly what was happening in the sky.
Several medium-sized drones maintained their distance and hovered near the flying mutant, forming a control grid.
Some smaller drones, like a swarm of flies and mosquitoes, formed a circle around the UFO, with three layers outside and three layers inside, making no secret of their intentions.
In the distance, a large support drone arrived late, hovered for a while at a well-maintained vantage point, then slowly descended and landed on the roof.
"This is... standard hunter mode! We're in trouble."
Li Wenjia's pupils contracted as he saw two white trails suddenly flash across the roof, followed by two cylinders with wings.
"Cruise missiles! Where are they?" Li Wenjia tried to find them, but the surrounding ruins obstructed his view. "I hope they haven't included us in their target array. You can't outrun missiles with your two legs!"
The expected explosion didn't occur, and the two missiles disappeared into obscurity. The small flying insects in the clouds began to test the mutant. This was the third part of the standard pattern.
The first two parts have been completed: observation and control, each accounting for 30% of a mission. The final strike is merely an optional part of the mission. In reality, most targets can't withstand it, and the hunter learns about their target.
The standard mode will only be activated when encountering an unknown target. This mode with a lot of redundancy is almost invincible.
"It's injured, we have to help it!" Goodnight seemed to have seen something, and said in a low voice with a little surprise.
"How could that be? They can't break the dragon feather!"
Changgu showed a look of disbelief, but was soon completely refuted by the facts.
A cry echoed from the sky, like a mythical bird from some film or TV drama. A mutant, with enormous wings, plummeted from the cirrocumulus clouds. Compared to the palm-sized drones, it was a veritable behemoth. From afar, the mutant appeared completely white, its two clawed feet hidden beneath its body covered in scales, their sharp nails stained with blood.
There was a bloody scar on its left eye, the wound was fresh, as if it had just been cut by a blade. This was obviously not caused by the drone, they were not worthy of hurting it.
Before it landed on the ground, it flipped over and stretched its wings fully, using the kinetic energy brought by gravity to glide over the ruins of the city.
Almost in an instant, it got rid of the harassment of those flying insects, and Li Wenjia took advantage of its leap to see the whole body of the Pteranodon clearly.
"Why do you call a large bird a dragon?"
"That's not what we call it," Longbone replied unhappily. "That's what our old refuge called it. They said Pteranodon fits all our dragon fantasies, and that birds evolved from dinosaurs. Since we call dinosaurs dragons, why can't it be called a dragon? What's more... they're proud and brave, which is exactly what we admire."
The Pteranodon didn't leave. It circled at low altitude for a short while before flapping its wings and climbing. With a body of its size, the force required to fly was immense. The air disturbance beneath its wings alone blew away all the snow on the ground.
It aimed its course at the group of small drones, rapidly increasing its flight speed. A few seconds later, a conical wall of air suddenly appeared in front of it, and a loud noise quickly reached the ground.
The situation suddenly reversed, and now it was the drones that had to flee, and they didn't have much time left. The drones had almost exhausted their motor power, and the heat generated by the overload caused the mechanical structure to wear out rapidly, and some vulnerable parts vaporized, and puffs of white smoke sizzled out of them.
Before they could disperse, the near-sonic object pierced through the drone swarm. The shockwaves in the air indiscriminately swept through everything nearby, destroying delicate structures in an instant. Some that were close to the drones immediately exploded.
Some spots of light appeared in the sky, and some were flickering and falling down.
This pterosaur, with a single burst of acceleration, destroyed approximately 40% of the small drones. Its actions had clearly stirred up a hornet's nest, and the two cruise missiles finally returned to Li Wenjia's sight.
Guided by the datalink control grid, all Hunter attacks would hit their targets. Li Wenjia didn't believe the mutant could evade the attack; the missiles were much faster than it. Those medium-range missiles were originally developed for aircraft. Although intra-atmospheric fighters are now obsolete, that research approach has been retained.
The cruise missile's speed suddenly increased, its wings automatically falling off as it entered attack mode. Simultaneously, the Pteranodon also increased its speed. Almost like a missile, it ignored the massive overload and performed a steep climb in mid-air, instantly plunging into the clouds.
The two missiles followed the trail of the Pteranodon and also plunged into the sea of clouds, but after a few seconds, only a muffled sound was heard in the sky.
