Chapter 23 Temporary Secondment

After returning to the same route and coming out of the room, Jiang Ling gave some encouragement to the guy in line behind him, and then caught up with the person in front.

According to No. 032, the subsequent projects are more dangerous, and he estimates that many people will fail here.

The next item is the vestibular resistance test. In simple terms, it involves sitting in a chair that can rotate 360 degrees and then performing various movements while spinning at high speed.

Theoretically, these trained skills will not be used most of the time, and once they are used, they are usually halfway into the grave.

After all, when they are used, it means that all other equipment except the life cycle device is unavailable. In today's rapidly developing productivity, this situation is almost impossible. At least most of the time, astronauts will wear an exoskeleton.

Once aerospace technology matures and humans go into space, perhaps no one will participate in such training anymore. They may be the last batch, or the second to last batch.

Several people came to the new location chatting and laughing. They separated at the entrance and each chose a test room and walked in.

Jiang Ling saw that the device in the center of the room was exactly as No. 032 had described: a structure composed of three layers of rings. The inner sides of the rings were lined with evenly spaced gear teeth, each connected by two creeping motors. A flight seat was welded to the innermost ring, its furnishings similar to those of a manned centrifuge cockpit.

Unlike the huge machine, the room where Jiang Ling was located was actually guarded by only one staff member, and this person seemed somewhat familiar.

"Are you, Lao Ning? Why are you here?"

"Yes, I'm here to pick someone up. Does your project still need testing? I remember your previous test was much more intense than this, right?" Ning Weihe moved the largest ring with his hand, and the entire device began to rotate slowly.

"Okay, what do you want from me this time? Are you here specifically to see me experience the project?"

"Of course there's something wrong!" He grabbed the ring and stopped the machine. "You still remember how to use the exoskeleton, right? This time we're using the fourth generation, and it's even simpler to operate than the original one."

"Okay, lead the way!" Jiang Ling opened the door and waited at the door.

Ning Weihe walked quickly. He took Jiang Ling through the staff passage, crossed most of the fourth floor of Area 8, and then took the automatic elevator next to a main support column.

The elevator changed lines twice along the way and they arrived at area four.

This area looked remarkably like an aircraft carrier hangar, with interlaced metal bridges connecting the structural trusses. The ground was spray-painted with lines of various colors, and it was covered with various transport vehicles, cargo boxes, and soldiers. In the distance, a huge gate connected to a place that was heavily guarded, and it seemed that this place must be very important.

"How is it? Isn't it spectacular? That place is connected to the launch site. You might be able to see it from outside during this operation. The sea water is very clear now, much better than before." Ning Weihe, who was lying in the middle of the overpass, looked down at the distance dozens of meters above and said, "Let's go down from that side!"

After walking a little further, they came to a set of stairs that creaked when they stepped on them.

Arriving at the ground of Area 4, they followed the white lines and walked a few hundred meters away from the gate until they arrived at an equipment maintenance area.

A group of engineers gathered around a Gladiator IV, distributing some sort of relief supplies. Judging by the time, they seemed to be preparing for a shift change. Behind them, rows of hydraulic racks stood on platforms elevated above the ground. Most of these racks were occupied by some sort of oversized exoskeleton, some of which were missing limbs and clearly in need of maintenance.

Ning Weihe quickened his pace, walked in front of Jiang Ling, and waved to those people: "Engineer Yang! Lend me two good sets!"

A fat middle-aged man in the crowd raised his head. When he saw the person coming, he immediately twisted his elbows, pushed away his colleagues who were squeezing over, and squeezed out of the crowd.

"I've saved them all for you!" He hugged Ning Weihe, then pulled him towards row C2. "The high-pressure resistance module has been installed. What other equipment do you want? Whatever they have, I have!"

"Portable buoyancy device, laser cutter, searchlight... and ropes, all the same." Ning Weihe said as he walked.

"Another capture this time? I heard that another group of whales came from the southeast. Could it be them?" The man called Yang Gongren hugged Ning Weihe's neck and seemed to be very familiar with him.

"Oh, you're making a fuss~" Ning Weihe pulled his hand away. "Whales won't get close to our defenses, and they can't get in. We're here to help pick up some trash, the debris that fell a while ago."

"Salvage? That's a huge project!" Engineer Yang folded his dishonest hands behind his back. "Is it far from here?"

"Not too far, near the corner of the Eastern Hemisphere, it seems to be called 'East Island'. It will take about a month to go back and forth in a straight line." Ning Weihe replied.

"So we have to take a boat?"

"No, take a submarine. It's a new good thing in the floating dock. They found pre-war blueprints. It should be the previous generation of attack nuclear submarines 099. But now there is nothing to attack, so they will definitely modify the interior."

"Come to think of it, it's true. It can even accommodate heavy exoskeletons, so it definitely won't use the same cramped cabin as before."

Engineer Yang led the two to the middle of the row of shelves, where several exoskeletons Jiang Ling had never seen appeared before them. Compared to the others, these were more rounded, with the joints in the torso and head missing. All were connected into a single, oval shape, giving them a somewhat bloated appearance.
