How should I put it? This is a story about a dumb protagonist who transmigrates to another world, gains superpowers, and then lives a lazy life, interspersed with a bunch of weird things that pop u...
In fact, diving more than 300 meters underwater is quite boring, especially when Jiang Ling learned that she could not see the outside world at all in the submersible, she lost all interest.
In reality, aside from civilian submarines that can't dive very deep and underwater probes used for scientific research, most submarines are encased in layers of impermeable hulls. The crew can only rely on advanced sensors, extensive experience, and a bit of luck to control the sub. The reality of what's happening outside mostly exists only in the imaginations of a few insiders.
Jiang Ling found a random bed in the lounge and lay down. The AI-driven submarine was incredibly stable; she had no idea she was moving at all. Perhaps the thick seawater blocked her perception, but she quickly fell asleep and slept until Tranquility No. 5 docked.
To facilitate the entry and exit of personnel and materials, the shipyard adopted a uniform atmospheric pressure design, so its entrance and exit are not much different from those of the East China Sea Station. After the submersible is fixed to the load-bearing frame by the robotic arm, the seawater is pumped away by a high-pressure water pump at the bottom of the pipe.
As the water was being pumped out, the airlock at the top of the pipe opened. The noise from the blower was quite loud, and when the water level dropped to halfway, the barrier of seawater was lost, which woke Jiang Ling up.
After bidding farewell to Tranquility No. 5, the group left the entrance together, leaving only the first mate behind. It was only then that Jiang Ling realized that this so-called first mate was actually the original captain of Tranquility No. 5.
Its degree of automation is really high, otherwise it cannot be used as a teaching aid.
In fact, it only takes one person to operate the submarine, of course, only if it follows the route set at the beginning.
On the work platform near the entrance, there is a simple map three people high. It marks the location of the map and also displays some hidden information.
When a few people passed by it, Jiang Ling glanced at it.
It turns out that underwater shipyards are essentially larger submarines. Each of them can independently build small and medium-sized submarines, and when necessary, they can be combined to produce some unspeakable large submarines.
Overall, they resembled giant hexagonal prisms. They were connected from end to end, and each plane had numerous joints for connection. These joints appeared to come in six sizes, the smallest only wide enough for drones to pass through, the largest wide enough for warships to pass through.
The few of them didn't walk for too long before they boarded a passing transport vehicle on the side of the work platform.
There aren't many workers in the shipyard; instead, there are industrial robots. They all run on their own tracks, drilling holes in walls and riding on tracks near cliffs, making their lives much more convenient than those of ordinary people.
Jiang Ling sat in the back seat of the transporter, watching the robotic arms constantly passing by outside the windows on both sides. She felt like a sardine on an assembly line. Perhaps after passing through a few more gates, she would be sprinkled with seasoning and put into cans.
Sure enough, after making many twists and turns, they stopped next to a black submarine with a blue glow.
As they got out of the car, the noise outside suddenly became noisy. Jiang Ling followed everyone and walked towards a protruding square platform. She glanced around, her eyes full of curiosity.
This place looks like a construction site. Most of the submarine's body is still surrounded by scaffolding. Some water spider-like robots are crawling on its surface. Every step of their suction-cup-like walking mechanism will temporarily leave a circular mark on the submarine's hull.
Workers were dismantling the steel frame; it was clearly finished, and the drones were probably doing the finishing touches. The diameter of this submarine was much larger than any entrance Jiang Ling had ever seen, and it was unclear how they would get it out.
Several people stayed on the platform, holding onto the railings, watching the submarine. Captain Feng's eyes shone with anticipation. Being on that submarine seemed like his dream, and it was about to come true. The hydrophone operator, transferred from the northern defense line, was very experienced and was assigned as a team leader. The damage control officer, a former diver, was now returning to his roots.
Jiang Ling was not a professional, and she could barely see how advanced this submarine was. As for how powerful it was, she could only describe it with the word "wow".
After a while, a Type 4 Fighter stopped behind the crowd and several soldiers in civilian clothes got out of the car.
"Hello comrades, welcome to join us!" The leading soldier greeted the few people and shook hands with them.
"What is the current situation? How much time do we have?" Ning Weihe asked.
"I don't know. When we received the news, the black box had already been broadcasting for several months. Even if the isotope battery is still intact, it can only broadcast for about twenty days at most. With her speed, we can buy you three days at most." The soldier leaned on the guardrail beside Jiang Ling, ignored the ban on the construction site, lit a cigarette, and blew out two smoke rings.
"She's the best submarine we have right now. Only she can cross the Tropic of Cancer currents. You have no idea how thick the ice is at the equator right now. It's said that even storm whales can't break through..."
The soldier glanced down at Jiang Ling, stubbed out his half-smoked cigarette on the guardrail, and then tucked it into his pencil case. He fanned himself twice, making sure there was no residual odor, and then asked Ning Weihe, "Why did you find a woman? Aren't you afraid of offending her? I don't have a dedicated room for her on my ship!"
"I'll give you a chance to reorganize your words." Ning Weihe knew Jiang Ling wouldn't care about what he said. "She's also our comrade, so speak with some respect!"
