Chapter 26: Ruthless

This is the last one, the girl raised her gun...

"Don't kill me! Don't kill me! I surrender, I don't want to die!" The guy lying on the ground pretending to be dead suddenly got up from the ground and saluted the F country army.

“Bang!”

The guy was instantly torn into pieces of flesh by two steel needles, and some internal organs mixed with broken bones and blood were scattered on the snow, forming a bizarre picture.

Jiang Ling fired two shots without hesitation. Uncontrollable mutants were like ineffective bombs, ready to explode at any moment. She wasn't curious about why these guys attacked the site, and even if she could get something out of him, it wouldn't help the situation.

"Jiang Ling! Where are you?" Li Gang's voice suddenly sounded from the communicator.

"I'm reloading near the explosion point of the cruise missile. Are you here?" Jiang Ling answered quickly and replaced a magazine full of bullets.

"We can't contact Zhou Xiangyang and the others! You should go and check them out!" Li Gang's voice was a little hurried, and he seemed to be running.

On the other hand... Zhou Xiangyang didn't follow Jiang Ling's advice. After firing all his cruise missiles, he began to feel drowsy. He hadn't rested for a long time, and he was nervous and anxious about the two people he had sent out.

This feeling of fatigue was fatal to them as they had no support, and Ruan Danxin also felt tired after a long period of mental defense, even though she was a senior super-power user.

In short, a sense of relaxation lingered inside the chariot, and none of the three people expected the danger to approach.

They originally thought that the high-temperature gas produced by the missile launch would quickly dissipate with the cold wind, but the continuous launch had heated up the air around the tank, and among the bandits who escaped by chance, there happened to be one who was very sensitive to temperature.

They keenly sensed this mass of gas, which was a few tenths of a degree hotter than the surrounding area. They searched the surroundings carefully and then locked onto the chariot that several people had concealed.

It could be said that concealment was both a success and a failure. The snow covering the chariot was significantly different from the surrounding area. The temperature inside the chariot created a small freeze-thaw environment around it. Over the course of more than ten hours of fighting, the snow gradually turned to ice.

Then the attack happened instantly.

Before Zhou Xiangyang lost consciousness, he only had time to turn on the tank's autonomous sentry system, and then he limply pressed Ruan Danxin under his body.

This sentry system consisted of a 12mm cannon, an automatic ammunition feed system, and onboard artificial intelligence. Theoretically, it could eliminate all incoming enemies within 500 meters before its ammunition was depleted.

Unfortunately, they only brought half a basic amount of spare ammunition, and these two hundred rounds were really not enough. After the attackers left two bodies, they successfully destroyed the machine gun on the top of the tank.

Ruan Danxin, who was hiding under Zhou Xiangyang's body, was so frightened that she dared not even breathe. She saw the small side door of the passenger compartment being roughly torn open. She vaguely heard a sentence - "Why are you here?"

Then the gangsters fired a burst of bullets into the room.

"Go to the tank? No, wait!" Jiang Ling thought briefly and realized she was faced with another dilemma. On one side were hundreds of dying people, and on the other were three teammates who had gone through life and death together.

Jiang Ling turned off the safety of her rifle and hung it on her back. She made a decision.

"Li Gang, come and help! They are well-trained and can take care of themselves! These people will freeze to death if they stay here for more than ten minutes!" Jiang Ling shouted in the communication channel.

"I'll go take a look and come back soon!" Li Gang replied.

"Li Gang! Calm down!" Jiang Ling rushed to the people who fell to the ground and randomly picked two of them to check their situation. These people were in good condition. Only a few unlucky ones were unfortunately shot in the previous exchange of fire.

Actually, asking Li Gang to stay and help wasn't very meaningful, so Jiang Ling didn't stop him. There were about a hundred people here, and the weight of their protective suits and equipment had to be taken into account. Li Gang's weak arms and legs wouldn't be able to move them, even if he died. At this point, he could only rely on Jiang Ling's control.

She found a sheltered snow slope nearby, where a collapsed elevated platform must have been. She then used her sensory abilities to spread out, along with the people she had rescued earlier, and moved them here. Of course, not everyone survived; the emergency response only saved some of those trapped underneath from becoming ice sculptures.

There were only about sixty or so people still breathing. Jiang Ling didn't know how many hostages the bandits had taken in the beginning. They must have left behind a lot of frozen corpses along the way.

She used her telekinesis to create a relatively spacious snow hut and then gathered the squirming hostages inside. As she did so, the wind outside picked up again. She felt that the reinforcements she had contacted that morning would not arrive tonight.

The igloo was an arched structure, with one side leaning against the snow slope and the other side sealed with snow. She left some holes for ventilation to prevent herself from suffocating instead of freezing to death.

It's still too cold, so we have to find a way to heat the igloo.

After a while, Li Gang's frustrated voice came from the communicator: "Zhou Xiangyang is dead. Only your little friend is fine. I don't know where the other one went, but he should have run south."

"Take your time... How is the Son of God?" Jiang Ling asked tremblingly.

"Woo~ I'm fine. They took Bai Wu away." Ruan Danxin's whispering voice came, sounding like she had just woken up.
