Incompetent Me Transforms into a Beautiful Girl

How should I put it? This is a story about a dumb protagonist who transmigrates to another world, gains superpowers, and then lives a lazy life, interspersed with a bunch of weird things that pop u...

Chapter 26 Second Trial (I)

On the back seat of the Fighter III vehicle numbered CN-, three full equipment bags were casually placed, containing all the goodies that Li Wenjia had secretly kept.

Opening one of the bags, a folded civilian power-assisted exoskeleton was found lying quietly inside.

This exoskeleton was originally military equipment from over a decade ago, but after it became obsolete, it became a must-have for ordinary people. It weighs about 100 pounds and, aside from the three core components, consists solely of a titanium alloy skeleton, making it impossible to install additional modules.

It only had protection at a few joints, so the rest required additional protective gear. Li Wenjia had no choice but to use this thing to avoid having to test for nuclear contamination.

Fortunately, this thing has a good load-bearing capacity, at least it is more than enough to carry all the clothes he is wearing.

He opened another bag, which was filled with various old equipment, including but not limited to bulletproof vests, plates, shrapnel helmets, night vision goggles... Before the emergence of the integrated face armor and protective modules of the second-generation exoskeleton, each of these pieces of equipment could be considered high-end products.

The last bag contains weapons and ammunition.

Considering mobility, Li Wenjia only picked out a pulse submachine gun, several defensive smart grenades and a standard dagger.

It took him several hours to pack up his equipment, mainly because he needed to reload the data into the exoskeleton's data core. This took up most of the time. Civilian data cores are slow, with too much redundant data, and their computing efficiency is much lower than his original one.

The departure time was set for four hours later, as the weather department in the rear predicted that the blizzard would reach its peak strength at that time. After that, the wind and snow would gradually weaken and then stop in the early morning of the next day.

Of course, one night wasn't enough time for them to gather information, so they planned to return at noon on the third day—the blizzard would probably return around that time. If they missed it, they would be doomed for the rest of their lives.

It was still early, so Li Wenjia decided to reacquaint himself with his comrades. They had arrived an hour ago and were gathered in a nearby tent, receiving combat instructions.

He covered his car with a light gray car cover, then walked against the increasingly dense snowflakes, crossed the parking lot, and came to the door of the tent.

He didn't go inside, as there were far more people here than he'd imagined. Most of them were heavily armed, their exoskeletons painted in snow camouflage, practically filling the entire tent. There were also a few in protective gear, presumably volunteers hoping to join the mission.

Li Wenjia glanced inside the tent but didn't see the person he was looking for. Most of the people here had already chosen their targets, and no one was likely willing to join him, so he decided to try a different approach.

He squeezed through the crowd and came to an open square.

There were two rows of modified Gladiator IIIs parked here. The armor plates and onboard weapons had been removed, leaving only the frame. Steel pipes and barbed wire had been welded to the top, providing makeshift protection.

He picked one at random, got into the driver's seat, and waited quietly.

He wasn't trying to cheat anyone by doing this, it was just a matter of fate that they met.

He didn't wait too long. After a while, he heard several heavy footsteps coming closer and closer.

Li Wenjia felt the Fighter Type 3 he was in suddenly sink, and then the door opened, and a guy covered in wind and snow got into the passenger seat.

A cartoon cat head was painted on the front armor plate of his exoskeleton, which was inconsistent with his painting style and was as ridiculous as painting a two-dimensional wife on the artillery shells in previous wars.

He glanced at Li Wenjia and found that this man was not equipped with an exoskeleton. He didn't say much, but just quietly fastened himself with a seat belt, then turned his head to look out the window.

Li Wenjia didn't waste any time and immediately started the all-terrain vehicle, then drove the car to the starting position.

Visibility was currently quite low; even with the fog lights on, Li Wenjia could only see about ten meters ahead. Fortunately, there were many guides, armed with flashing red handheld signal lights, arranging the parking of various tanks in the snow.

When Li Wenjia stopped, a man in protective clothing walked up to him and stuffed a tablet the size of an A4 paper into his hand.

The tablet is much heavier than expected, but it only has two functions - offline maps and data storage.

If I'm not mistaken, they should have just come out of the printing workshop. They should be designed and manufactured for electromagnetic pulse environments, and their electromagnetic resistance should be comparable to that of exoskeletons.

Li Wenjia fiddled with it for a few times and found that the map was just pre-war information, so he handed it to the unlucky guy next to him.

He knocked on the alloy shell a few times with his tablet. When the man came to his senses, he nodded and said, "Brother, what's your name? I'm Li Wenjia."

"No need to bother, my name is Lu Xianwu. Aren't you busy? Why are you still here?"

"No rush, it's still early." Li Wenjia stroked the steering wheel in front of him. They had even removed the cover. "By the way, why are you alone? I clearly saw you coming here with someone else."

The man's expression changed slightly, and he hesitated for a moment before answering in a seemingly normal tone, "Are you talking about them? They were my former colleagues... They left first, I just ran a little slower."
