"Lao Qi, pass me the interface."

Ma Si climbed onto a portable ladder and shouted to Master Qi who was below.

“Here I come!”

Qi Heng grabbed the toolbox beside him and lifted it up. His work wasn't finished yet; the mainframe wasn't in great shape lately.

"Hey! Okay, okay!"

Ma Si looked at Lao Qi who was working hard and shook his head helplessly. He took the toolbox and then carefully placed it on the cable pipe beside him.

"What's the situation?" Ma Si asked.

"The data redundancy is 70 percent higher than last time. We can't repair it by deleting data now. The deletion speed is not as fast as the generation speed!" Qi Heng tapped the keyboard a few times, then looked into the distance.

There was a cubic device, the main unit of the mine. Roughly the size of four stacked four-seater cars, it stood quietly in the center of Area B. Its numerous indicator lights flashed constantly, red, green, yellow, blue, and white, like neon signs from the past.

While gazing at it, Qi Heng admired this industrial crystal from the bottom of his heart.

"This should be normal, right?" Ma Si connected the adapter to a cable. "The mine has been under heavy load lately, so it's inevitable that the mainframe will have some problems."

Qi Heng shook his head and replied dejectedly, "This question is different from those others. I still can't figure out where it collects all that data from. Logically, it should only generate some mining logs or something like that. Even if it generates it every minute, it would only take up one percent of the data capacity in a week."

"Do you think it's possible that those guys are using the host's computing power to play holographic games?" Ma Si thought for a moment, then recalled his previous experience.

It's undeniable that the computing power of these mainframes is truly impressive. These industrial mainframes are quantum computers, each composed of sixty-four pairs of entangled photons. Each computing unit then exchanges information with at least three other units. These quantum computers, designed to mimic the human brain, each boasts eleven times the computing power of the human brain.

Of course, too fast a calculation speed can also cause many problems, so the designers developed an operating program specifically for them - an artificial intelligence that can learn independently.

The mine has four mainframe computers, but due to cost considerations, they only purchased one set of operating software. So now it's like one AI is dealing with four quantum computers.

This kind of operation is very common, and many companies used to do this. The best machines are paired with the worst programs, or the best programs are paired with the worst machines. In other words, in reality, there are generally no hexagonal warriors who are masters of all six sports, but there are always people who excel in one area but are only so-so in others.

This is probably the reason why redundant data appears.

"Probably not. Besides, they are very busy lately and have no time to play games." Qi Heng replied.

The young men they were talking about were actually their subordinates. Master Qi had three, while Old Ma had four. The thought of these young men, who had just graduated, gave them a headache. The reason was simple: these two brothers had no idea how to teach students.

Of course, under normal circumstances, these fledglings wouldn't have come here for internships. But now, human life is worthless. When food rations dwindle and prices soar, even if these children are reluctant, under the pressure of survival, they are forced to risk their lives for a better future.

Ma and Qi arranged these kids to help out on the outskirts of Area B. There was really no other way as they didn't have enough authority. For example, most of these people would never have the chance to set foot in a computer room in their entire lives.

"Speaking of which, can you understand that data? I've heard some talented people can use their brains to surf the internet." Master Ma tried to change the subject. The most taboo thing in a conversation is talking about work. Regardless of whether their work is going well or not, there will always be someone who feels uncomfortable.

"Where did you see it? Data is just like human genes. Before it is converted into actual traits, it is just a bunch of garbled codes. Anyway, I can't understand it... Maybe the person you are talking about might be made up by a human-computer interaction, hahaha~" Qi Heng suddenly laughed, and no one knew what happy thing he was thinking about.

"What are you laughing at?" Ma Si asked in confusion.

"Haha~ No, I saw a joke before. Decades ago, someone kept posting videos of people marrying robots on the web. That person thought that all the people getting married outside were robots, so he only prepared one gift every time he went to a banquet. He finally found out that those videos were synthesized videos and they were all fake." Qi Heng replied with a smile.

"What a cold joke..." Ma Si only felt a chill.

"But it's quite funny. Imagine if a person's entire life was controlled by artificial intelligence, and that artificial intelligence thought about you, worried about you, and took care of you in every possible way. Even if all that stuff was fake, would you be able to tell what was real and what was fake?"

Qi Heng closed the portable operating platform, then sat on the computer case next to him and said.

"It doesn't really matter. Under normal circumstances, ordinary people are controlled by machines, the economy, customs, rumors, or even themselves. Freedom is just a lie. Who controls it? Is it control?"

"No, I don't want to be controlled by anyone...at least not by a machine." Ma Si ended the chat.
