In the distance were several large rats, running out of the mushroom forest in panic. They were so fast that even though the mushroom forest was several kilometers away, they were already right under everyone's noses in just a moment.

"Hide quickly!" Dong Xie shouted, and then he immediately found a bomb crater on the road without any water and jumped down.

The guide froze for a moment, but was pulled by Xidu into another bomb crater. Old Wei, the last of the group, had already crouched on the dirt slope beside the road. He had three backpacks on him, so there was no way he could escape.

Two exoskeleton warriors took out a weapon that looked like a submachine gun from the equipment bag on each other's back. The appearance was very sci-fi. The place where the sight was originally turned into a display screen that could show the number of bullets. This reminded Jiang Ling of a game about fighting aliens that she had played before.

"Hey! Gopher, stay away from here, this thing is very loud!" The flying squirrel reminded in the communication channel, but before he finished speaking, the mole raised his gun and shot.

The submachine gun they carried had a sixty-round magazine and a three-row, single-feed design. It was a pulse Gauss weapon, delivering considerable power, a truly impressive strike against these little rats. The exoskeleton's fire control module linked the weapon's aiming system, ensuring high accuracy even when firing from the hip.

Submachine guns have a high rate of fire. If you hold the trigger, it takes only three seconds to fire all the bullets in the magazine. These bullets are different from the rifle bullets that people use as change. Their caliber and length are much smaller, which allows the magazine to hold so many bullets.

Their exoskeletons have been adapted to be acid-resistant, and weapons other than submachine guns would have too much impact on these modifications, so they are not equipped with more powerful weapons.

But even those small-caliber 6x28mm rounds were still Gauss bullets. The characteristic of Gauss bullets is that the larger the caliber, the larger the warhead. These bullets, with a muzzle velocity of approximately Mach 4, pack a tremendous amount of energy. Considering their weight of seven grams, their kinetic energy exceeds 10,000 joules. Not to mention these still-brutal rats, they could even threaten weaker secondary mutants.

"Bang, bang, bang!" A few seconds passed, and the world became quiet. Of course, more importantly, everyone's ears were buzzing, and they couldn't recover for a while.

Jiang Ling climbed up from the ground and peeled off the film on her helmet. She saw the giant rat in the distance was smashed into pieces. The power of those bullets was indeed very strong. If used for comparison, they were about half the power of her beam.

"Is it over? This is really fucking intense!" Dong Xie popped half of his head out of the crater.

Jiang Ling sensed it again and shook her head: "Not yet, I'll see it soon."

Another group of mutants rushed out of the mushroom forest. This time they finally saw clearly that it was two dirty big dogs chasing a dozen mice.

"A dog trying to catch a mouse? Is that difficult by nature?" The guide asked suspiciously, sticking his head out to take a look.

"No, these dogs don't eat living things, and giant rats aren't the kind of dirty creatures that carry germs." Xidu seemed to understand something. He gripped the bolt gun tightly. "Those furry dogs are scavenging mutants that live in symbiosis with fungi, while giant rats are clean, vegetarian mutants."

"That's right, but they must die, otherwise there will be more trouble later." The flying squirrel agreed.

"They're running away," said the Mole simply.

"Is there something bigger behind?" Jiang Ling asked, but her voice was drowned out by the sound of gunfire.

At that moment, the four of them, armed, fired simultaneously. A dense rain of iron blasts streaked through the air like silent ripples, piercing the puny mutants over three hundred meters away. The mutants were instantly shredded by the high-pressure air carried by the bullets, leaving a dozen radial bloodstains on the ground. Some of the bullets, still unable to slow after penetrating, flew into the mushroom forest, leaving numerous bullet holes in the large umbrellas.

The mutants that were fatally attacked fell dead instantly, but there were still a few lucky guys who survived. The crowd did not continue to attack. If those few could turn around, their chances of getting to safety would be a few points higher.

"Hurry, get into hiding!" the flying squirrel shouted, and the two of them crouched down on the slope beside the road. "Those giant rats have turned! If the guys behind them had any sense, they wouldn't have continued chasing them."

According to Jiang Ling's perception, the surviving giant rats did not continue to rush towards them, but several mutants ran out from the place where they came out, and farther away, there was a very special thing.

"Damn, what did I think it was? Turns out to be a few crabs?" Old Wei seemed to have recovered. When he saw that what came out in the end were just a few armored crabs, he jumped out excitedly.

He didn't know when he pulled out an old gunpowder weapon from his bag, and then, despite others' dissuasion, exposed his position.

On the silent plain, his voice was particularly harsh. Dong Xie stayed in his crater and tried desperately to signal the guy to get back down, but he couldn't make a sound. The guy, overwhelmed by joy, didn't care about Dong Xie's actions at all. He thought Dong Xie wanted to share a piece of the pie.

"What's going on? Is he crazy?" Jiang Ling asked in a low voice in the channel.

"Crab roe is valuable, enough to earn merchants' lives. As the old saying goes, it's worth more than gold!" the flying squirrel replied. The two exoskeleton warriors were also a bit worried when they heard Lao Wei open fire, but Lao Wei was far away, and it would be difficult to kill the guy from a low position.
