Lin Feng was invited into a slightly different infinite space. "People in the quest world actually know my identity?" In the Dungeon world, he traded for the Hand of Devil using his name wi...
How much do you know about immersion?
Climbing the mountain range, passing through the rocks, and arriving under the sky filled with red light, Lin Feng leaned on a rock and looked at the area on the horizon that was glowing with firelight.
"Huff..." Mar gasped for breath, his body collapsing onto a rock, coughing several times, looking at the figure not far away with a look of utter despair.
He had never seen a human being climb such a mountain without taking a breath!
After a pause, Mal said, "I once heard a rumor that the Howell Manuscript contained detailed information about the immersion."
Howell's Chronicle?
Lin Feng immediately recalled the general information: this book was a history book that had been passed down from the surviving humans after the last Holy Communion.
"However... the original was destroyed. Arell's scholars believe that most of the book's contents were hearsay, and it has been constantly adapted into what it is today."
Mar coughed a few times, took out the water bag he had taken from the Pegasus Knight's corpse, and gulped it down: "Decades ago, I heard some older elves in Notuva say that in their time there was a method called the Seed of Thought, but no one knew what it was."
Seed of thought?
The materials originally used in the game to upgrade character quality?
Just as Lin Feng was pondering, Ma Er asked, "Have you heard the call of the Sea of Thoughts?"
"Um..."
"You really have no faith?" Mal recalled what Lin Feng had said on the road.
"Um."
"People without faith can actually feel the call of the Sea of Thoughts..." Mar exclaimed in amazement, "This is the first time I've ever heard of such a thing."
Lin Feng turned around, interrupting the other person's thoughts: "Which god do you worship?"
"Mantog, the god of destruction, but... I'm not so steadfast. After arriving in Monta, I once visited the prayer site of Depsefera, the god of origin..." Mar's eyes became somewhat embarrassed. The sudden change in his faith made the call from the Sea of Thoughts seem much more ethereal, making it impossible for him to respond or complete the immersion.
"Actually, you don't need to worry. Since you can sense the call of the Sea of Thoughts, you just need to follow the guidance of your heart, and you will definitely be able to find your goal."
Lin Feng nodded perfunctorily. Although that made sense, there were still significant differences. Perhaps he should make a trip to the so-called holy land of Arel.
After a short rest, Ma Er regained his strength and caught up with Lin Feng on the way down the mountain.
Whoosh! A gust of wind blew by, and the two saw the Pegasus riders flying down the mountain in the distance. They both slowed down.
You're right.
Mar's voice was sharp and stern, and another group of Pegasus riders flew overhead.
Lightly equipped, fast-moving, and seemingly chaotic distributed queues only occur in extremely important situations.
As the Pegasus Knight flew by, Mar suddenly asked, "Are you preparing to enter this war?"
"Not necessarily." Lin Feng pointed to the twin flowers on the horizon: "That's my target."
Twin flowers?
Mar stared at the red light, pondered for a moment, and said, "I can help you."
"Help?" Lin Feng was tempted for a moment, but quickly calmed down. If it involved the issue of decay, he could ask Mal to do something, but as for the Twin Flowers, he was only guessing at the moment, not even speculating.
Mar explained, "You saved me."
"Just doing it casually." Lin Feng didn't care too much. "I don't have a direction yet... but if you find anything related to immersion, you can keep an eye out for me."
“Hmm.” Mar nodded again, loosened his grip on the rock, and fell off the hillside. “Raine and the others must have heard something when they went to sea over the years.”
Lin Feng landed next to him, his expression neither happy nor worried: "Don't take it too seriously, any information is fine."
...
Eastern forest of Upper Dalles.
After a day and a night of travel, and after Mal had completely given up on figuring out how much stamina Lin Feng had, they finally arrived at the gathering area they had agreed upon beforehand.
"No odor remains..."
"They've never been here before..."
Mar walked towards a rocky outcrop, a spot they had agreed upon long ago; if it wasn't here...
The two went to a camp in the forest again, the same area where they had rested a few years earlier when they were cutting down trees for the nobles.
"They've never been here before."
Looking at the unchanged environment, Ma Er had a bad feeling.
"Are they blocked by the Empire's army?" Lin Feng quietly pulled out his tablet, and the signal generator he had secretly placed on Rein lit up as a small red dot on the map.
This direction is... up to Dallas!
Lin Feng looked in that direction and the first thing that caught his eye was the two enormous twin flowers.
Did Ryan go to Dallas?
Were they arrested? Or were they tricked into going?
"Where did they go?!" Mar returned after circling around. Apart from the footprints left a few years ago, there were no other people around.
Lin Feng quietly put away the tablet: "Wait, don't act rashly. You saw the army that just surrounded Upper Dales. If we get involved now, we won't be able to save anyone, and we won't even be able to protect ourselves."
"Let's infiltrate Upper Dallas first and scout ahead. If they encounter the Imperial army along the way... not everyone will necessarily be captured."
"All right..."
Mar sighed with difficulty. He knew there was nothing he could do now: "We can sneak in from the north of Upper Dallas to gather information. During the Twin Flowers blooming season, they regularly send people out to clear out the monsters in the vicinity."
"Hmm." Lin Feng nodded, his gaze returning to the enormous twin flowers.
After navigating deep into the forest and dodging Imperial scouts and sentries, they finally reached the northern part of Upper Dallas.
Looking around, viscous water stains appeared on the entire land, and clumps of mud worms crawled out of the water stains from unseen angles, supporting their sticky bodies as they crawled toward the surrounding trees.
Sea of Thoughts...
Although he didn't feel anything, the situation before him made Lin Feng think of more things about these inexplicable water stains.
"There."
Mar pointed into the distance, where a group of mercenaries was rushing from the direction of Upper Dallas, venturing into the area where even more mud worms were bred.
"Everyone, prepare to charge!" A loud shout rang out, startling all the monsters hiding under the water stains. They crawled out of the corners and rolled towards them.
As the battle began, Mal led Lin Feng to the rear of the mercenaries. After quickly taking down a number of mud worms with them, they successfully blended in.
"These are all temporary mercenaries. They can get bounties as long as they bring back the insect corpses."
"One is worth about three silver coins, while a giant insect can be exchanged for about 300 to 500."
After Ma'er finished speaking, the two noticed something slowly crawling towards them from the distant forest.
"It would take at least ten master-level experts to kill a single ordinary giant insect. If you go any deeper, only legendary-level experts can kill it."
The group avoided the enormous creatures in the forest and made their way to an area where the water was even deeper. The surrounding trees were all corroded by the water on the ground, and the blackened crevices were crawling with insects that looked like water droplets, constantly seeping out from the inside of the trees.
A cesspool of corruption.
The team stopped there, collected some mutated plants and soil from the mud pit, and then happily began their return journey.
