Infinite Instance, I Farm in the Wasteland

Xia Chuohe played games day and night until she died of exhaustion. The bad news: she didn't die completely and transmigrated into the monster-slaying game she was playing before her death – ...

Chapter 1 Wasteland

Xia Chuhe wanted to die, and she finally fulfilled her wish on an ordinary morning.

My heart beats fast and slow.

Darkness flashes before my eyes, then light.

The game controller slipped from my hands, but unfortunately, my heart skipped a beat; I hadn't finished the game yet.

It turns out that death only takes two or three nights to survive.

Xia Chuhe looked out the window one last time.

The hazy sunlight fell on the well-arranged farm, where life was ordinary and uneventful.

A tortoise slowly crawled across the vegetable patch and towards the pond.

Xia Chuhe collapsed to the ground, hoping that Su Su could live a little longer, much longer.

In her will, she wrote that everything in the family would be inherited by Su Su.

If the parents can come back, it will be easier to get the farm back from Susu than from someone else.

Susu is the turtle she keeps at home.

...

Buzzing buzzing buzzing

...

Buzzing buzzing buzzing

...

It's so noisy.

Don't save me, let me die.

The sounds around me gradually became clearer.

"She's a mutant, throw her out!"

"The mutants will destroy the base, kill her!"

"Kill her!"

"kill!"

...

"Don't kill her, I'll take her away."

...

Xia Chuhe's arm ached, and she felt herself being pulled up and placed on a narrow, bumpy surface.

The thing carrying her swayed back and forth, making her bones ache.

Xia Chuhe can die, but he cannot suffer pain.

I opened my eyes and saw a messy, greasy clump of hair.

She was lying on the back of a "person," and Xia Chuhe reasonably suspected that the person carrying her was a long-haired skeleton.

Damn, a female ghost.

Are people carried to hell by female ghosts after they die?

Does even a newly deceased male ghost receive this treatment?

Xia Chuhe pushed off the female ghost with all his might.

The female ghost collapsed to the ground due to the interaction of forces, emitting painful groans.

Xia Chuhe: ...It looks like a person.

She looked around and saw nothing but yellow sand. The ground was covered with coarse sand, and fine sand floated in the air.

It looks familiar; the art style is very similar to the game she played before she died—Wasteland, a fighting role-playing game.

I'm not sure, I'll think about it some more.

In the distance, several enormous black pillars connect heaven and earth, and in the hazy air, there are vaguely visible clumps of things.

Xia Chuhe confirmed that this was a classic scene from "Wasteland Above"—the Sky City.

The female ghost got up from the ground.

Xia Chuhe recalled the conversation he had just overheard.

The people at the base thought she was a mutant and wanted to kill her, but the female ghost in front of her saved her.

Xia Chuhe: SOS, I mistook my savior for a female ghost and even pushed her over...

Xia Chuhe dug his toes into the ground, wishing he could dig out his own farm right away. I'm so damn stupid.

Fortunately, her savior didn't blame her; she simply asked, "Can you walk?"

Xia Chuhe nodded: "Yes!"

The savior silently led the way ahead.

Xia Chuhe wanted to apologize to her, but when he opened his mouth, he was met with a mouthful of sand.

She silently shut her mouth; perhaps that's why her savior didn't speak.

The two walked forward against the wind and sand, one in front of the other.

After walking for a long time, Xia Chuhe was parched, his face and body covered in fine sand, and he felt unwell all over.

This is outrageous. I wanted to die, but now I'm living a life worse than death.

Xia Chuhe lay sprawled on the ground, resigned to his fate. Dying anywhere was death anyway, so dying in the game was fine too.

The savior miraculously noticed Xia Chuhe's movements immediately. She reached out and grabbed Xia Chuhe's arm, seemingly wanting to continue carrying her.

Thinking of his savior's thin, bony back, Xia Chuhe felt too embarrassed to continue slacking off and could only get up and keep walking. The man had saved him; he should at least express his gratitude before dying.

After walking for a while, a sign appeared on the ground. The sign had a simple line drawing of a house with an X crossed out.

In the game, this sign means "abandoned safe house".

The abandoned safe house is in a Schrödinger-safe state.

In other words, before it's opened, no one knows whether it contains monsters or food and water.

Xia Chuhe's savior gestured for him to stop and then went forward alone to check on him.

The safe house was unlocked. The savior found the door knocker on the ground, then lifted the door and crawled underground.

Xia Chuhe wanted to test if her gaming abilities were still intact; her original character was a berserker who could overcome any skill with sheer brute force.

Xia Chuhe walked a little further away, clenched his fist, gathered his strength in his fist, and slammed it hard on the ground.

That punch of hers could create a crater at least ten meters deep.

but……

Xia Chuhe hugged his hand, which was scraped raw by the sand and grit, and jumped up and down in pain.

The crater she jumped into was bigger than a punch.

Xia Chuhe didn't jump around much.

Her savior came out and gestured for her to go inside.

Xia Chuhe casually put his hands behind his back and followed them into the safe house.

"Lock the door." The savior walked ahead without turning his head.

Xia Chuhe examined the metal plate above his head; there was a thick pin at the edge.

She carefully inserted the bolt and checked it before walking into the underground. She could die, but she couldn't burden others.

The solar panels in this safe house are still working, and there is light inside.

It seems to have been abandoned not long ago.

Her savior rummaged through her messy hair at the back of her head and pulled out a small iron rod with a pointed end. She tied her hair up and used the iron rod to secure it.

"My name is Lu Danggui."

Xia Chuhe remained silent. Exchanging names was the first step in making friends, but she wasn't sure if anyone would want to be her friend, and she had no idea why Lu Dangui had saved her.

“I bring bad luck to people,” Xia Chuhe said.
