Infinite Instance, I Farm in the Wasteland

Xia Chuohe played games day and night until she died of exhaustion. The bad news: she didn't die completely and transmigrated into the monster-slaying game she was playing before her death – ...

Chapter 16 Farm Upgrade

Wang Yan sighed softly, "You really are... a young lady who knows nothing."

Wang Yan: "In the passage, try to keep quiet. Sound will attract the attacks of mutated creatures and can also easily disrupt the judgment of the guards."

Xia Chuhe decided to shut up. She only needed to observe and listen more; the more she said, the more mistakes she would make.

When they encountered an intersection on the road, Su Ye would refer to the map and quietly remind Du Zhen of the direction.

The more Xia Chuhe looked, the more he realized his own ignorance.

She stopped asking questions and instead focused on her farm, where she hadn't yet sorted out the items she'd brought out of the instance.

First, there are sachets.

Xia Chuhe struggled to tap around on his phone; fiddling with things on the small screen was too much work.

When Wang Yan saw her phone, he exclaimed in surprise, "This old-fashioned thing still works? Shouldn't Miss be using the latest five-star watch?"

Xia Chuhe didn't even look up: "Young Miss is down on her luck, Brother Yan, can you help her out?"

Wang Yan shut up.

Xia Chuhe finally opened the sachet, which contained wheat seeds, corn kernels, soybeans, and apple seeds.

The moment the sachet was tipped over, a letter popped out of the farm.

Xia Chuhe opened it curiously—

The player has collected A-grade items: Magic Seeds (wheat, corn, soybeans, apples). Reward: 80 experience points. Farm can be upgraded to level 1 (125/100).

After closing the email, Xia Chuhe realized that the farm had already sent her an email three hours earlier.

Judging by the time, it was roughly when we had just come out of the dungeon.

The first letter—

Congratulations on clearing the Ice and Snow World dungeon! Collection progress: 45%, Experience gained: 45.

No wonder he has 125 experience points.

Summer Hoeing Point Upgrade.

Another letter arrived—

Upgrade your farm to level 2 and you'll receive +4 land and +1 mill (to be built).

Xia Chuhe understood what the land was all about. Four more plots of land had been reclaimed on the farm, bringing the total to eight.

But what about the mill?

There's only a blurry image of a mill in the bottom left corner of the phone screen. Dragging it towards the center of the screen only brings up a message saying "Insufficient points, 5000 points short."

Points should be equivalent to money.

Xia Chuhe is now penniless.

She abandoned the project of building the mill and continued to organize other things.

Clothing: Several old clothes for women and girls, and a few pieces of fur of various sizes.

Food: Several pieces of delicious jerky, several pieces of mediocre jerky, several fish that are about to die, a beaver's hind leg, a bag of flour, half a bag of tea leaves, and half a can of salt.

There is no accommodation or transportation.

Other items: a set of pots and pans, some pine firewood, some willow branches, 4 stone shovels, and a mold. Two boxes left behind by the woman.

The items belonging to Du Zhen and his group included: most of a beaver, a large bag of dried meat, and several fish.

Moving around those tiny, fragmented things is hard on the eyes.

After Xia Chuhe finished tidying things up bit by bit, the car stopped.

The car stopped at another station. Du Zhen drove in, and someone fiddled with the car for a while, checking the spare battery and replacing it with a fully charged one.

The station serves as both a car rental shop and a service station.

After a short rest, Du Zhen took some nutritional supplements, and the group continued on their journey.

During her break, Su Ye specifically asked if she could switch seats with Xia Chuhe, as she wanted to sit in the same row as the girl.

Xia Chuhe agreed, and moved to the second row so she could see Wang Yan driving. She glanced at it a few times and found that the vehicles in the wasteland were not much different from modern cars.

Alright, survival skills acquired.

If things really get really tough, I'll drive a taxi in the underpass.

Xia Chuhe glanced back at Su Ye and the girl with concern. Su Ye seemed to have brought up some games on his wristwatch and was teaching the girl how to play. The two seemed to be getting along quite well.

Xia Chuhe yawned; it's easy to get sleepy when traveling by car.

When I woke up, I arrived at my destination—the station closest to the Colored Stone Base.

The journey took only about a day, and the station guards returned 2400 points to Du Zhen.

Du Zhen breathed a sigh of relief; thankfully, nothing unexpected happened on the way.

The station has an underground pedestrian passage that leads directly to the Caishi Base.

Du Zhen reminded Xia Chuhe: "If you really are a mutant, you must honestly accept the guards' questioning and not give random answers."

Xia Chuhe raised three fingers and swore, "Okay."

Wang Yan: "What does this gesture mean?"

Xia Chuhe: "I offer three sticks of incense to Goddess of Heaven, asking her to protect me from saying anything reckless."

Du Zhen: ...Is this person really okay? I'm so afraid the guards will stop them all outside.

Despite our worries, we finally arrived at the Colored Stone Base.

...

Dongfang Rui summoned Shi Jianhe, the junior manager of the North Tiger Base.

The base is divided into three levels of leaders, and each level is held by multiple people.

Junior managers oversee matters related to non-evolved individuals, such as population, jobs, and the trading of daily necessities.

The mid-level officers primarily liaise with the guard and reserve forces, managing base security and external relations.

Senior officials serve as a bridge connecting the upper echelons and the base, and they serve the upper echelons.

...

Dongfang Rui forwarded the pictures sent by the reserve army to Shi Jianhe: "Xia Chuhe can't possibly be a mutant. What are you doing?"

Shi Jianhe nodded obsequiously: "Many people in the base saw her mutation. The fluctuation of her power was too great, even greater than that of a high-level evolved being. And... and she's already 25 this year."

Evolvers typically awaken their superpowers between the ages of 10 and 16, and at most no later than 20.

Those who develop supernatural abilities after the age of twenty are basically affected by pollution, causing their genes to collapse and turning them into mutants.

Dongfang Rui pointed to the photo: "This is a photo of her four days after she left the base. She's lively and energetic."
