Infinite Instance, I Farm in the Wasteland

Xia Chuohe played games day and night until she died of exhaustion. The bad news: she didn't die completely and transmigrated into the monster-slaying game she was playing before her death – ...

Chapter 3 The World of Ice and Snow

At the critical moment, Xia Chuhe instinctively grabbed Lu Dangui, rolled along the wall, and dodged the monster's fatal blow.

The two slid down the wall to the corner, with the monster in hot pursuit.

A huge black shadow enveloped the two, trapping them in a corner with nowhere to hide or escape.

Xia Chuhe was exhausted. Like a drunken salted fish, she casually lay down on the wall.

I don't care who it is, I'll just die if I want to.

It would be best to die a quick and painless death.

However, the moment the monster with a head full of teeth descended from the sky, Xia Chuhe felt the wall behind her soften, like pressed butter, enveloping and swallowing her and Lu Dangui.

It was cold, bone-chillingly cold.

The cold air, like sharp needles, pierced through the skin and penetrated into the flesh and bones.

Where am I?

Xia Chuhe squatted on the ground, hugging his arms tightly.

"We've entered the instance."

Lu Danggui's teeth chattered from the cold.

No wonder the safe house was abandoned; it turns out new instances have been generated around it.

There are generally three reasons why safe houses are abandoned.

First, the safe houses are located in remote areas, so guards and mercenaries rarely enter them, resulting in low usage frequency and high maintenance costs.

Secondly, there are large mutated creatures nearby that can break through the safe house, such as the monster we just encountered.

Third, there are newly generated instances nearby. As these instances grow, their range will gradually expand until they invade the safe house.

There are two reasons for the existence of Safe House No. 7.

I wasn't eaten by the monster, but I accidentally wandered into the dungeon.

Lu Danggui didn't know whether to call them lucky or unlucky.

However, Xia Chuhe knew nothing of this; she only found it strange.

The game's dungeons involve changing maps and fighting monsters, and the map background is still a wasteland.

However, the current instance is clearly not in the same style as the wasteland.

This is a world of ice and snow, with only pure white snow and a solitary, arched snow house in sight.

Lu Dangui looked around and pulled Xia Chuhe up: "Let's go into the snow house."

The two, dressed in thin clothes, braved the wind and snow to make their way towards the snow house.

Snow forms her hair, frost her eyebrows, and ice covers her skin.

Xia Chuhe gradually heard a faint thumping sound amidst the howling cold wind.

After a while, she realized that the sound was actually her own heartbeat.

Xia Chuhe's steps gradually slowed down. She could no longer hear the sound of the wind and snow, nor her own heartbeat. She felt a little warm all over, which made her feel somewhat comfortable.

She unconsciously recalled that people who are about to freeze to death will take off all their clothes because they will feel abnormally hot when they are too cold.

It's good to freeze to death; at least the last leg of life has a sweet illusion.

Xia Chuhe was lost in thought when her hand was suddenly caught in a pair of "iron clamps," which dragged her through the doorway outside the snow house.

Xia Chuhe fell into the snow house.

There are people and a fire inside the snow house.

Lu Dangui clung tightly to Xia Chuhe, exchanging half a bag of nutrients for a spot by the fire.

The candlelight crackled, and the scent of burning pine wood lulled people to sleep.

It took Xia Chuhe a while to recover; the "iron clamp" that had just gripped her was Lu Danggui.

She saved herself again.

Now, Xia Chuhe sat by the fire warming himself, while Lu Dangui stood around the fire, his eyebrows covered in frozen frost.

There were six people in the room, clearly divided into two groups, and no one spoke.

Xia Chuhe beckoned to Lu Dangui and whispered, "Come here."

Lu Dangui shook her head and asked the others, "How long have you been here?"

One group said, "Let's hold on for two more days, then we'll leave."

Another group said, "We just arrived today, so we've got some tough times ahead of us."

Xia Chuhe was completely bewildered.

She wanted to ask, but Lu Dangui shook his head at her.

The person who sold Lu Dangui the spot was a short man. Lu Dangui looked at him and said, "We just entered the instance. Can you tell us about the situation?"

The short man squeezed the nutritional supplements in his pocket: "It costs extra."

Lu Dangui remained silent. He had hidden three nutrient solutions when he left the base, and now he had two left.

Give the little dwarf another one; if they don't get any particularly valuable information, she and Xia Chuhe probably won't make it through.

Moreover, raising the price too easily would make her seem like a fat sheep waiting to be slaughtered.

"Never mind then," Lu Dangui said listlessly.

Xia Chuhe couldn't sit still any longer. She forcefully pushed Lu Danggui to the fireside and began to explore the snow hut herself.

The little dwarfs, who arrived first, had already searched through everything stored in the igloo. The group, wrapped in furs, had backpacks overflowing with supplies, indicating they had made quite a haul.

Inside the snow hut, the snow furniture was exposed, and there was a pile of split pine wood next to the stove.

Xia Chuhe approached the timber, took out his phone, and tried to collect the timber into the farm.

The first time, the wood remained unchanged.

Xia Chuhe was not giving up. She tried different angles and actually managed to put a pine log in.

On the screen, a piece of wood is casually discarded next to four bare plots of land.

Xia Chuhe suppressed her inner elation and quietly collected four pine logs. She was afraid that if she collected too many, the other two groups would notice something amiss.

Of the three groups, she and Lu Dangui had the fewest people and appeared to be the weakest.

One must be cautious and discreet.

Xia Chuhe continued searching and found a layer of willow twigs on the ice bed, with remnants of animal hair on them. It seemed the bed should have originally been covered with animal hides…

Xia Chuhe brought a few willow branches to the farm.

Xia Chuhe had previously watched a documentary about the Arctic, which vaguely mentioned that igloos usually store a lot of food, such as cooking oil, dried meat, and pickled vegetables.

She searched the entire snow house, but found nothing.

Xia Chuhe stubbornly knocked on the wall, but the sound was solid and the echo was heavy.

From the walls to the freezer.

The three short guys had expressions of anticipation for a good show.

It wasn't until Xia Chuhe tapped the ice bed that a hollow echo came from beneath it.
