After being beaten down by the entertainment industry, Ning Qiluo packed her bags overnight: "I'm afraid of cyberbullying, I want to go home and inherit my family's fortune."
...
Having already said it, Ning Qiluo stared at him silently for a long time before realizing that she had really dared to say it!
Jiang Yingchi's face gradually softened: "So that's what you thought?"
“I…” Her little face turned bright red.
"You want me to get a marriage certificate? To be my... Mrs. Jiang?"
“I…” She could explain, but the words were on the tip of her tongue, yet her tongue got stuck.
Ning Qiluo regretted that she had let her tongue slip at this moment, "I was just being sarcastic."
"You lied to me?" His face darkened.
"..."
"Ning Qiluo!"
Jiang Yingchi suddenly called her name.
A very formal tone.
Hearing this, Ning Qiluo involuntarily straightened her body and straightened her back.
Jiang Yingchi was now close enough to stand in front of her. Despite his proximity, Ning Qiluo didn't feel uncomfortable at all; however, her tone was much weaker than his imposing presence.
"So what brings you to my house so late at night?" he asked her.
This immediately distanced the two of them.
Ning Qiluo realized that she couldn't match his imposing manner, and when she spoke again, her voice was even softer: "Jiang Yingchi, I, I've come to, to break off our engagement."
Finally, she added weakly, "You, you shouldn't always have such a long face, it's scary."
Jiang Yingchi felt like she was driving herself crazy.
If he hadn't been afraid of scaring her, he would have already taken her right there and then.
Ning Qiluo had no idea what Jiang Yingchi was thinking behind his cold face. She only felt that he seemed impatient with her and felt a little wronged, but she couldn't show it, so she kept it to herself.
I kept it all bottled up, and it made me feel incredibly uncomfortable.
"Then let's break off the engagement," he said, looking her directly in the eye.
Upon hearing this, Ning Qiluo was stunned and stared at him, her eyes glistening with a faint, pearly sheen.
"Should we announce the annulment of the engagement publicly? Or should we annul it privately? After all, our engagement has never been made public. I'm fine with either option, it's up to you," he said.
Ning Qiluo did not react.
I wanted to say "okay," but my throat felt like it was stuck with a fishbone, dry and painful, and I couldn't say the word "okay."
After a long while, she finally nodded.
He simply nodded, offering no further comment.
“Is there anything else?” he asked.
Their attitude and tone were extremely distant.
Ning Qiluo shook her head: "That's all."
Jiang Yingchi stopped looking at her, turned her back to her, and said, "I'll have someone take you."
"No!"
Ning Qiluo immediately refused, but then said in a much softer voice, "I drove here myself, no need to trouble yourself."
Jiang Yingchi, with his back to her, did not turn around and walked forward like a shooting star, leaving her only with his imposing figure.
Watching the distance grow ever wider, Ning Qiluo stood forlornly in place, like an abandoned child. She was incredibly stubborn, knowing that she was the one who caused the conflict, and she twisted her fingers to try and stop being sad.
Then I kept telling myself: breaking off the engagement is a happy thing for everyone!
Even though I tell myself that, I still feel a little sad.
"Jiang Yingchi, I'm going to Hong Kong."
"I haven't seen you for over a month."
"By the time I get back, I should have forgotten this sadness, and then we can break off the engagement..."
The corridor was long, and he had already walked far away, only a blurry silhouette remaining. Ning Qiluo muttered a few words to herself, then turned and left. The butler escorted her to the door, and she politely thanked him before driving away.
