Chapter 65 Yu Meng's Doubts

As night fell and the city lights came on, the group, feeling full and still savoring the delicious food they had at the karaoke bar, slowly began their journey home. All the way, they kept reminiscing about the spicy and savory duck necks, the sweet and sour pasta, and the crispy-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside fried chicken – the memories still seemed to dance on their tongues.

As soon as Wang Wei arrived at his doorstep, he saw his wife, Yu Meng, standing there, her figure appearing somewhat lonely and forlorn under the streetlights. A chill ran through Wang Wei's heart; an ominous premonition washed over him.

Like a cheerful little bird, Wang Niu Niu suddenly pounced on her mother, hugging her neck tightly. Then, she suddenly pointed at Wang Wei and shouted, "Mom! Dad took me to eat so much today! And I saw lots of older girls too!"

The crisp sound rang out loudly in the quiet stairwell. The words "Miss" struck Yu Meng like a bolt from the blue, turning her face deathly pale. Her eyes widened in shock and confusion, and she grabbed Wang Wei's arm, urgently demanding, "Explain yourself! What 'Miss'? What were you doing?"

Wang Wei was flustered by the sudden questioning. He stammered and began to make up a story: "It was just... just a few friends getting together, singing some songs casually during dinner, nothing more." His eyes darted around, he didn't dare to look Yu Meng in the eye, and he stammered as he spoke.

Yu Meng frowned, looking suspicious, but she didn't press the matter further and decided to get to the bottom of things first.

The next day, following the car's route, Yu Meng went directly to the Golden Brilliance KTV. She stood at the entrance, took a deep breath, and then pushed open the door and went inside. A waiter immediately greeted her and politely asked what she would like to eat.

Yu Meng, as if in a fit of pique, casually ordered a spicy duck neck. She wanted to see what magic this place held that made Wang Wei so mysterious.

Soon, the spicy duck necks were served. The duck necks were carefully arranged in a perforated bamboo basket, with bright red chili oil evenly coating each one, like dressing them in a vibrant red robe. Scallions and sesame seeds were sprinkled on top, like embellishments on the red robe.

The rich aroma, like invisible threads, instantly entered Yu Meng's nose, making her mouth water.

Yu Meng couldn't resist taking a bite. First, the perfectly balanced spiciness exploded on her tongue, like a mini fireworks display, stimulating her taste buds. Then, the savory aroma of the duck neck filled her mouth. The skin was incredibly chewy, making a satisfying crunch, while the meat inside was tender and flavorful, easily falling off the bone with a gentle bite. The rich sauce and fiery chili blended perfectly, making every bite intoxicating, as if she were in a culinary paradise.

Yu Meng felt that the taste was simply unparalleled in the world, and she couldn't help but exclaim in her heart, "It's sooooo delicious!"

Yu Meng was enjoying her meal, oblivious to everything. Just as she was about to leave, she suddenly realized that the dark figure in front of her was none other than the furtive Fatty Miao.

Fatty Miao walked past the front desk in the lobby carrying a large black takeout bag. The bag was heavy, clearly filled with a lot of delicious food.

Yu Meng's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly stood up and walked towards Fatty Miao. She secretly followed him, only to find herself in the Zijin Residential Area. Wasn't this her home?

Yu Meng followed Fatty Wang all the way to her front door. Yu Meng took a deep breath, pushed open the door, and prepared to interrogate Wang Wei thoroughly.

Next to it was a large plate of freshly packed fried chicken. Golden and fragrant, it looked incredibly tempting.

The two of them were sitting at the table with a case of beer next to them, drinking and chatting happily. They were even commenting on the food as they ate.

Wang Wei patted his stomach and took another big gulp of beer: "This is what heavenly food is all about."

Yu Meng pushed open the door. "Here comes the delicious food from heaven! Wang Wei, what are you doing?"

When Wang Wei saw Yu Meng, a hint of embarrassment crossed his face. He explained sheepishly, "Actually...actually, I heard from someone a few days ago that the restaurant at this KTV is really good, so I secretly contacted Fatty Miao and we ate there a few times. I promised you I'd lose weight, but I couldn't resist my cravings..."

Fatty Miao raised his beer. He quickly excused himself, "Sister-in-law, I have to go now. I still have things to do at the shop!"

Yu Meng initially kept a straight face and looked serious, but when she saw the bowl of braised pork rice, her stomach involuntarily rumbled. Looking at the tempting color of the braised pork rice and smelling its rich aroma, her anger unconsciously dissipated considerably.

Just then, Wang Niu Niu, who had been playing with toys in her room, came out. She saw the bag her mother had just packed, and her eyes lit up as if she had discovered a treasure.

Looking at Wang Niu Niu's adorable appearance, and then at the bowl of braised pork rice and the spicy duck neck in the bag, Yu Meng's doubts and anger completely disappeared.

She suddenly realized that her insecurity stemmed from marrying into a family far away, which might be why she was so prone to overthinking. And this small misunderstanding was miraculously resolved because of the delicious food.

Yu Meng walked to the dining table, sat down, looked at Wang Wei and Wang Niu Niu, and said with a smile, "Never mind, since it's so delicious, we can come and eat here occasionally in the future. But you can't sneak around anymore, you have to tell me in advance."

Wang Wei nodded quickly, a grateful smile on his face. The family of three sat around the dining table, enjoying their meal, their laughter echoing throughout the room. The food at the glittering golden KTV acted as an invisible bond, connecting them all.

Su Yingxue noticed that the restaurant's business had been improving lately. They just needed to come up with some new dishes.

Just then, Jin Xuan suddenly burst in, shouting that she wanted Su Yingxue to come out and teach her a lesson.
