Chapter Ninety-One: The Outsider (1)

Chapter Ninety-One

If Chris knew that many people were looking for him, he certainly wouldn't have run around like that.

As a good child, he was worried about causing trouble for others.

But he didn't know, much less what the situation had become. He just stared blankly at the rats in the sewer.

It is now responsible for keeping an eye on the two cats behind it, who are switching between human and cat forms, trying to break free from the spider webs binding them.

But this seemingly thin and soft thing is incredibly tough, and sometimes it even changes shape along with the bound person. In short, if you don't pay attention, you can't even feel that you are still bound by this thing.

But once you try to break free, its resilience is astonishing.

"This thing has the same density of magic as the magic within my body." The little spider hesitated for a moment, looking at the two guys who had been busy for so long: "If you're willing to promise what you'll do after we get out..."

"no."

"Then you'll have to stay here for a while." The little spider sighed, losing its temper.

Those guys had already left, and the little spider had originally wanted to take them with it. But as soon as its hand got close, it was bitten.

So for now, we can only wait here for these two cats to calm down.

But why stop the two cats instead of helping them catch that guy? The little spider didn't know, it just felt that what it was doing shouldn't be a big problem.

It has a personality that dislikes trouble. Although it will not hesitate to help those in danger, it is unwilling to cause trouble for itself.

At the same time, he did not blame the friends who caused the trouble.

It looked around and, although it was in the sewers, there was absolutely no odor. It used its magic to create a barrier, keeping the strange smell out.

Are you from their side?

"no."

"Then why don't you come and help us? You're very capable; you even easily bound that thing just now. If you were willing to hand it over to us, there wouldn't be so much trouble." He ground his teeth, sounding like he was groaning.

"Where are you taking her? The place you used to seal her is gone, isn't it? Only a coffin is left." The little spider paused and said, "That coffin is just an ordinary coffin. The reason it could be sealed was because of the additional power suppressing it. But you don't have that power now, so you can only put her in there. She will try to break free when she wakes up. I think it's very unlikely that you can keep her locked up for even three days."

Do you want to start a fight?

"No, it's just that I don't think that guy is a bad thing. Besides, you've kept her locked up long enough, haven't you? You were all sealed up in that place with it, and now everyone has finally been able to see the light of day again. In this hell, having freedom is a blessing, isn't it?" Spider-Man paused and said.

"This is the responsibility God has given us, and it is the meaning of our existence."

"But God has fallen asleep, as have both God and the devil; you have lost that meaning."

"That's true. But that's not a reason for us to shirk our responsibilities."

"Really? Responsibility?" the little spider said hesitantly. "But speaking of responsibility, it's a really good thing. I want to have responsibility too."

"What's the meaning?"

“I’ve seen people rush to their deaths because of a sense of responsibility, and I’ve seen people refuse to yield even in the face of responsibility. There are even people who commit suicide out of guilt for breaking their responsibilities. I’ve never felt that way, maybe because I’ve never had any sense of responsibility.” Spider paused and said, “Speaking of which, I’m quite envious of you guys. No matter what, you’re much better than someone like me who has no sense of responsibility.”

"I'd like to ask you what exactly it is?" he said, frowning slightly.

There are very few creatures in the world that can so easily restrain themselves; even a calamity-level monster shouldn't possess such an ability. Although they aren't monsters, they should be more than capable of dealing with calamity-level monsters.

But this tiny creature in front of him inexplicably filled him with a sense of fear. It was a completely subconscious fear for which he couldn't find any reason.

This guy is dangerous, dangerous in a way that's a bit inexplicable.

Because there's simply nothing to worry about, this guy always gives off that feeling. First, there's fear, then a sense of relief. It's really hard to describe why these two feelings emanate from the same person. Fortunately, they're not antonyms. Logically speaking, it's probably because although this guy is terrifying in every way, not instinctively avoiding him upon seeing him takes real courage.

But for some inexplicable reason, I had a feeling that this guy wouldn't cause trouble.

It's like a very well-behaved big monster, or maybe a tiny one. At first glance, you might just think it's some bullied creature, and if you could help it, it could become your partner.

She sighed inwardly and slowly lowered her head.

That guy is in this city now, but he's completely unable to deal with his destined nemesis. Instead, he's trapped in this place, helpless. He's completely given up on trying to cut the spider silk.

"If I said I wouldn't go looking for that guy, you'd untangle the spider silk now, right?" Dark suddenly remembered that this guy wasn't very bright, so maybe he could use this method to trick him.

Hui was stunned for a moment, then turned to look at him, only to see him make a gesture to calm him down.

But before he could make any further explanation, the spider silk that had been binding him suddenly disappeared.

“Of course,” the little spider said casually, then turned to look at Dark, who was about to run away, and paused for a moment.

"I hate liars the most," it muttered angrily in a low voice.

The rats screamed and ran away. Suddenly, the light disappeared, and the entire sewer was completely shrouded in darkness in just a short time.

The black aura filled the entire sewer with the force of a surging wave, and everything visible to the naked eye was trying to escape.

In the midst of my momentary panic, I only felt a chill on the back of my neck.

Those were the spider's appendages; the long legs that grew from the little spider's back pointed at his throat like spears. At the same time, eight eyes stared at him with displeasure.

"You won't lie to me, right?" Spider-Man's voice suddenly changed, becoming as cheerful as a child's. But at the same time, the overwhelming pressure made it impossible for Dark to breathe.

Had I angered him in some way? I had a feeling that I might disappear from here, perhaps even losing the will to fight.

The last time it displayed such hostility was when it was opposing Ketchum, but at that time, the rain made it difficult for the little spider to fight back. Rain is the little spider's weakness, something it has never told anyone. Because for spiders, there is almost no vision in the rain. All they can hear is the sound of raindrops falling to the ground. Their body temperature will also drop too low, and even the spider silk used to carry magic will lose its performance in the rain.

But there wasn't such heavy rain now. The little spider looked into the dark eyes, waiting for it to make its next move.

Although this was merely a threat, the little spider did indeed unleash a real killing intent.

His attempt to escape was indeed too conspicuous; in fact, Spider-Man was always able to notice subtle changes in other people's emotions. He could even use this to determine what the other person really wanted.

“We are not enemies,” the little spider said softly, pausing between words. “Similarly, none of us are enemies. The Church, demons, monsters, or humans are all the same. We are all doing our best to survive, there is no need for us to fight each other anymore.”

As he spoke, his long legs slowly retracted behind him, and then he looked at the stunned An.

"Did that guy Ark tell you this?" Dark asked, somewhat puzzled.

"No, it's just my own thought." The little spider slowly sat down on the ground. He was tiny, sitting there, curled up in a ball on the ground.

A long, long time later, it shrank to one side.

"Um, I was just kidding. If you want to go after them, go ahead." Spider-Man paused and said, "It was my fault. I made the decision for you based on my own judgment. Just pretend I didn't say anything."

An was still stunned. After that, the guy seemed to have disappeared.

Although it now knows it should go find the guy it's destined to keep under its watch, it inexplicably becomes interested in this guy huddled in the corner.

The reason is actually very simple: this guy is too obvious.

A mere glimpse of genuine emotion unleashed a power that annihilated all life in the sewers. The concentration of magic was at an utterly unbelievable level.

Calling this guy a scourge is not an exaggeration at all; in fact, classifying him in this dark category is seen as a loophole in the church's hierarchy.

Because on Blood Day, the huge creatures outside the city that resemble mountains are a calamity, and the little creatures sitting here are also a calamity.

There's an easy reason to understand: this little guy and that big guy have similar total magical power.

A creature the size of a fluff ball possesses magic as powerful as a mountain. If that thing is a monster, then what kind of monster is it?

But it said such things, as if it were a naive child.

Dark transformed into a human and sat down next to the little spider, looking at the black fur ball.

"Aren't you going to look for that thing anymore?"

"try to find."

"Then why are you here? I'm not going to stop you now."

"Before that, I wanted to know what you really were."

"A Spider-Man is just like that, an ordinary monster."

"If all ordinary monsters looked like you, they wouldn't have anything to fear from the Church."

"Ark mentioned something about me being some kind of heart or something, but I don't know the specifics. Anyway, it seems I was in a forbidden zone, an area teeming with monsters. The cocoon I was wrapped in became a focal point of magical energy, which shaped me into this form." The little spider turned its head and looked at the shadowy figure, saying, "Do you want my magic core?"

An was stunned for a moment, then suddenly saw the little spider pierce its own body with one hand, and then take out its magic core in front of An.

What's even more surprising is that this guy's magic core is pure black, without a single other color.

"This is?"

“I’m a bit special; I’m a kind of aggregate of magic. Although other monsters are like me, I have a little more magic power.” The little spider hesitated before stating his opinion: “Ark said I don’t have a magic core, only something called a heart.”

He handed over the magic core in his hand: "Crushing this thing can form a temporary shield, or it can trigger an explosion or something like that. Ark said it has this effect."

An held the magic core in his hand. Even when exposed to the outside, this thing was not contaminated in any way; it was purely black.

"Doesn't this affect you?"

"My spider silk is much denser than this, and as for magic cores, they're a trivial matter for me." The little spider paused and said, "If you have this kind of magic, why are you here? I should be looking for demons and opportunities to take revenge on humans. Is that what you're trying to say?"

"You always say what I'm about to say before I even realize it."

"That's because I've heard it so many times."

"So, what's the answer?"

"I've said it countless times, I don't understand." The little spider looked at him and said, "The answer is that I don't understand. After you've figured it out, I'll leave now and go back to the inn."

"Then let's leave together."

"You've given up?"

"I can't find that guy at all now, can you help me find him?"

"Can."

"Weren't you just objecting?"

“We are now in a team, and Yak has paid me a considerable salary.”

"I'm surprised. If you're that kind of guy, why did you choose to follow Ark?"

After the question was asked in secret, Spider-Man was unusually silent for a moment.

Then it turned its head and looked at the guy.

"Do you remember your question from earlier?"

"Strictly speaking, it was a question that came out of your mouth; I didn't say it myself, but I did want to ask it."

“Yes, I’ve said many people have asked me this question. Except for Ark. For so long, only Ark has never asked me this question.” The little spider paused and said, its voice hoarse, as if it were coming from the mouth of a person with a completely broken neck: “The reason he has never asked is simply because he understands what I mean.”

An watched the spider sitting on the ground. In the darkness, in the sewer, one sat on the ground, and the other stood.

Even so, it is a creation of God. But the one before me is merely something originating from a demon.

Perhaps someone could capture this scene in a painting, or perhaps it could be described in a single sentence: It's simply a corrupt angel watching a pure devil. Nothing more.

"That's really a good thing. You're doing well following him."
