Chuan Liu has always believed: “Chaos is not an abyss, chaos is a ladder.”
Therefore, the magician Chuan Liu chose the criminal exile island – “Paradise Island.”
On this islan...
Luxury cruise ship, business cocktail party.
"Let us invite Mr. Zhou Zheng, the banker, to deliver a wonderful speech for this cruise ship business reception." The host's loud and infectious voice rang out in the banquet hall.
A man in a suit and tie slowly walked onto the stage amidst the attention of the crowd. His every move was exceptionally elegant and composed, exuding the air of a refined gentleman.
He nodded slightly and gave a gentle smile to everyone around him. The smile seemed to have a magical power, making everyone believe his words.
"Hello everyone, I'm Zhou Zheng. It's an honor to receive the invitation from the organizers..."
The man's appearance was like a dazzling light, attracting the attention of all the business people present. Everyone held their wine glasses and listened quietly to the man's toast.
As Zhou Zheng was speaking, a touch of blue subtly blended into this bustling scene.
She wore a low-key yet elegant blue dress, the color of which seemed to change with the flow of light, both deep and refreshing. Her wavy hair fell naturally down her back, complementing the blue of the dress perfectly, making her look as mysterious as a mermaid quietly swimming in the deep sea.
While most people's attention was still on Zhou Zheng, some were drawn to this unexpected beauty and couldn't help but cast their gazes in exploration and appreciation.
"Miss, would it be convenient to exchange contact information?" a man asked expectantly as he stepped forward.
Two entourage members wearing sunglasses followed closely behind him. They had sharp eyes and frequently glanced around, appearing extremely cautious.
Upon hearing this, Chuanliu smiled politely and shook his head.
After that person left, several other men mustered up the courage to try to get her contact information, but they were all politely refused.
Chuanliu's gaze seemed to casually wander across the stage and around the banquet hall, while Zhou Zhengzheng, with his calm voice, guided the atmosphere of the banquet forward slowly.
However, the atmosphere in the banquet hall was unusual.
Yesterday, Tom Wu, a high-ranking official of WD, was assassinated. Although the news was suppressed and did not cause panic among the passengers on the cruise ship, these nobles and merchants still heard the news.
The atmosphere in the banquet hall seemed more tense today. Those dressed in gorgeous clothes and chatting and laughing maintained their usual composure on the surface, but their eyes revealed a hint of vigilance that was not easily detected.
Security in the banquet hall was significantly increased. Almost everyone was accompanied by at least two well-trained bodyguards, who were either hidden in the shadows or closely following their hosts, their eyes sharp and their vigilance constant.
After the thunderous applause subsided, Zhou Zheng, like a nobleman, bowed slightly to the audience with a perfectly timed bow, and then slowly walked down the steps.
His gaze swept quickly around, as if searching for a specific figure in the vast sea of people.
After a brief conversation with several guests who came to greet him, and a few pleasantries with some old business friends, Zhou Zheng's gaze never truly left the crowd.
He withdrew subtly, then asked his men, "Where is she?"
The trusted aide quickly approached and whispered a few words of report.
Zhou Zheng's brow relaxed slightly, and then he strode out of the banquet hall, leaving everyone with an elegant silhouette.
Zhou Zheng arrived at his private VIP lounge, where the heavy door closed quietly behind him, shutting out the noise from the outside world.
Chuanliu sat upright on one side of the tea table, her hands moving gracefully among the teaware like an artist, each movement so unhurried and fluid.
The aroma of tea filled my nostrils.
The moment Zhou Zheng stepped into the room, his gaze was fixed on the girl.
He seemed to have anticipated her presence, a faint smile playing on his lips as he unconsciously slowed his pace and walked towards her.
"You've come." His voice was deep and magnetic, like a spring breeze, breaking the silence of the room at just the right moment.
Chuanliu continued working with his hands, replying in an emotionless voice, "Boss Zhou is all-powerful now, I dare not not come."
As she spoke, she took out a card that matched the color of her dress. The card had the familiar handwriting on it, and three words were written on it: "Zhou Zhengzeng".
Zhou Zheng quietly admired the blue dress Chuan Liu was wearing, nodded and said, "This dress looks really beautiful on you."
Chuanliu's movements suddenly became fierce. With a flick of her wrist, the card in her hand instantly transformed into a swift dart, slicing through the air and heading straight for Zhou Zheng.
This scene was exactly the same as when she left Paradise Island that night, using playing cards as a weapon.
However, Zhou Zheng appeared unusually calm in the face of this sudden attack. He not only did not try to dodge, but stood relaxed in place.
Just as the card was about to touch Zhou's face, it suddenly changed direction, as if drawn by an invisible force, and finally landed steadily in the corner trash can.
Immediately, Zhou Zheng took off his fitted suit and casually draped it over the back of a chair; then he loosened his tie, opening his collar a little wider; he also casually unbuttoned the two cuffs, making him appear even more relaxed and casual.
The eyes behind the silver-rimmed glasses were so gentle they seemed to hold water.
He walked to Chuanliu's side, leaned against the edge of the tea table where she was, and silently closed the distance between them.
His long, slender fingers traced a line across her cheek. "You have no idea how boring my days have been without you."
Chuanliu didn't look up at him, but poured the first brew of tea onto the tea table. "Is that so? Researching the almost destroyed signal station, contacting the outside world while evading WD's eyes, and having a big fight with the interest groups on the border of Paradise Island... I thought you should be very busy."
