Chapter 10 The nanny you hired is pretty enough.
Lin Xi followed behind Song Xu to a minivan. The door opened automatically, and Song Xu told Lin Xi to get in first.
Lin Xi glanced into the car and saw that there was no one else besides the driver. She got in and sat down in the front seat.
After getting into the car, Song Xu sat next to Lin Xi and instructed the driver in front, "Back to Brilliant City."
"Yes, young master!"
Young Master? Lin Xi secretly glanced at Song Xu. Does that still exist these days?
Song Xu seemed to know Lin Xi inside and out. He raised his eyes and caught Lin Xi's curious gaze. "You can call me Brother Xu."
"I'll still call you President Song." Lin Xi couldn't bring herself to say "Brother Xu."
Song Xu blinked. "Whatever you say."
They arrived at the apartment quickly.
This was Lin Xi's third time here, and she was already quite familiar with the place. After entering, she opened the shoe cabinet, took out disposable slippers, and put them on.
She walked into the living room and looked around. The house was very clean and spotless. She didn't know what else she could do.
"Mr. Song, are there any areas that need special cleaning?"
Song Xu pulled his tie down a bit, unbuttoned his collar, and stretched his neck. "No need to clean, just make me dinner."
"Okay, is there anything you particularly want to eat?" Cooking is a skill that can be mastered in many ways. As long as she can find a tutorial, Lin Xi is confident that she can make it.
"Two meat dishes and two vegetable dishes, you can decide what to make." Song Xu didn't make too many requests; the dishes Lin Xi made were all to his liking.
He felt stiff wearing a suit all day, so he headed towards his bedroom to take a shower and change. After a few steps, he stopped, turned back to Lin Xi, and said, "Make enough for two people."
"Okay, Mr. Song." Lin Xi didn't think much of it and turned to go to the kitchen.
Lin Xi opened the refrigerator, took out some ingredients, and prepared to cook a fish, braise some pork ribs, and stir-fry two vegetable dishes.
She had just finished preparing the food when she heard a noise coming from the front door, like someone was unlocking it.
Lin Xi dried her hands, took small steps to the door, and saw a man in a suit standing in the doorway.
Lin Xi stared at the man at the door for two seconds. He looked familiar, as if she had seen him somewhere before.
Song Chen, standing at the door, also paused for a couple of seconds. He took a step back, glanced at the door number, and then took another step forward to confirm it was correct. "Who are you?"
Are you a friend of President Song?
The two of them asked at the same time.
Song Chen gave a vague reply, then asked, "Is Song Xu here?"
“Yes,” Lin Xi replied, remembering that Song Xu had asked her to make enough for two people, which meant she was going to have dinner with the man in front of her. She turned to the side and said, “Please come in. Mr. Song is in his bedroom.”
Song Chen took a pair of gray slippers from the shoe cabinet and put them on, then casually placed his briefcase on the cabinet by the door.
"Are you Song Xu's girlfriend?" Song Chen looked at the girl in front of him. She was very beautiful, with delicate features and a cool demeanor.
“No,” Lin Xi quickly explained, “I’m a part-time worker hired by President Song.”
"A part-time cleaner?" Song Chen raised his eyebrows. When did his good younger brother ever need a part-time cleaner, let alone a stunningly beautiful one?
"Please make yourself at home," Lin Xi said, not wanting to explain too much. She pointed towards the kitchen and said, "I'm going to cook."
After Lin Xi finished speaking, she nodded slightly, turned around and walked to the kitchen to continue cooking.
Song Chen took off his suit jacket and hung it up, pulled off his tie and threw it aside casually, and loosened his collar and cuffs.
His hands were habitually on his trousers, as he wanted to take them off, but then he remembered there was a little girl in the room, so he moved his hands away.
Song Chen sat on the sofa, took out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter from the drawer of the coffee table, lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and slowly exhaled a smoke ring.
He crossed his legs and shifted his gaze to Lin Xi, observing her every move.
The girl was very skilled and focused in her cooking. He stared at her for a long time, but she didn't even glance in his direction, completely ignoring him.
He found it quite interesting. There were plenty of women who would flock around him, but this was the first time he had ever seen a woman who ignored him.
I don't know where Song Xu found the nanny.
After taking a shower and changing into his pajamas, Song Xu came out of the bedroom. He didn't see Song Chen, so he went to the kitchen to see the dishes Lin Xi had prepared.
There was fish, pork ribs, bamboo shoots, and celery; the portion was quite generous, enough for the two of them.
“President Song,” Lin Xi looked up, glancing at the sofa, and reminded Song Xu, “Your friend is here.”
His friend? Song Xu followed Lin Xi's gaze and saw Song Chen sitting on the sofa, who was looking at him with a smile.
Song Xu walked over to Song Chen and sat down next to him. "Brother, what brings you here?"
"I just finished dealing with a case in Tianwu City. I'm here to have a few days of peace and quiet. Otherwise, if I go back to the old house, Mom will arrange for me to go on blind dates again." Song Chen said, stubbing out his cigarette in the ashtray.
“She’s just too idle,” Song Xu sighed. “She can’t wait for you to get married right away and have a grandson for her to play with.”
"Having a child is easy, getting married is hard," Song Chen said with self-deprecation. "My status is special, so I'm really stuck in a limbo."
“There’s nothing special about you,” Song Xu frowned slightly. He couldn’t stand Song Chen saying that about him. “You’re a child of the Song family, my own brother.”
Song Chen smiled and gestured with his chin toward the kitchen, "Where did you find this nanny? She's quite pretty."
Song Xu glanced at Lin Xi, who was frying fish, and said, "Yanzi found her. She's a good cook, and we occasionally call her over to cook a meal."
“I’ve come at the right time today,” Song Chen stood up. “I’ll go take a shower and change my clothes first.”
"Alright! Let's have a drink together later, you two brothers." Song Xu stood up and watched Song Chen go back to his room.
Lin Xi raised her eyes and stared at Song Chen's back. She remembered where she had seen this man before. It was in President Song's room, in the photo on the desk. He was the man in the photo with President Song. No wonder he looked familiar.
...
When Song Chen came out of the room, the food was already ready.
With four dishes and a soup, Lin Xi noticed that Song Xu had taken out a bottle of baijiu (Chinese liquor), so she specially made a bowl of hot soup for them to sober up.
There were only two sets of chopsticks and bowls on the table. After Song Xu sat down, he glanced at Lin Xi and asked, "Would you like to eat something with me?"
Lin Xi shook her head, "No, Grandma saved some food for me, I'll just eat at home."
"Mr. Song, would you like me to stay and clean up the dining table and kitchen before leaving?"
Since the two of them were going to drink, the meal would definitely take a long time, so Lin Xi, unsure of what to do, simply asked.
Song Xu glanced at the time; it was already past eight o'clock. It would be too late if they finished eating. "No need, you can go back first."
Thinking that Lin Xi's home was in a remote area, Song Xu added, "You can take a taxi back, take a picture of the receipt and send it to me, and I'll reimburse you."
What a stroke of luck! Lin Xi had been standing all day, and her legs were sore and swollen that she couldn't ride a shared bike anymore. She wanted to take the bus home, but after getting off the bus, she still had to walk two kilometers to get home.
Now that someone is reimbursing her taxi fare, she'll splurge a little today.
"Thank you, Mr. Song," Lin Xi bowed to Song Xu. "I'll be going now. Just charge me for an hour and a half today."
It actually took one hour and forty-five minutes, but since Song Xu was going to reimburse her for the taxi fare, she felt embarrassed to ask for more money.
Song Xu nodded. "I'll transfer the money to you once I send you a photo of your invoice."
A smile appeared on Lin Xi's face; she was happiest when she made money.
She left the apartment and took a taxi home.
Upon reaching the second floor, Lin Xi walked briskly. She had already received Song Xu's transfer, and he had given her extra payment for the work, calculated based on two hours.
She wanted to get home quickly so she could share the good news with her grandmother.
"Grandma..." Lin Xi walked to the door and was about to call out to her grandmother when she heard her grandmother's angry voice coming from inside the room.
"Get out of here! You're not allowed to covet Xixi!"
