Alien Yeshi starved to death, yet miraculously came back to life. She arrived in a strange place where the creatures weren't very hairy, liked to wear a layer of "skin" on their bodies,...
"
Uncle Hao looked at his daughter and said earnestly.
"Well, it's getting late, my mom wants me to go home early, so we won't stay any longer." Aunt Hao glared at Uncle Hao, not understanding what was wrong with him today. Why was he always revealing his daughter's shortcomings in front of outsiders?
"When did Mom say that? I didn't know that." Uncle Hao was stunned. How come he didn't know when his mother-in-law had said that to his wife?
"I said that while you were warming up the car, let's go quickly!" Aunt Hao stood up and led her daughter away.
"Then we'll head back now. See you at Mom's house. Auntie, I'm leaving now. I'll come see you again another day!" Uncle Hao got up helplessly and followed her out.
"Drive carefully, the roads outside are quite slippery!" Grandma Mei stood at the door, waving to the family and giving them a word of advice.
"I'm driving very slowly, so don't worry! Fifth Sister, quickly help Auntie inside, it's terribly cold outside!" Uncle Hao shouted from inside the car.
During the Spring Festival, Mei Jian got up early every day to help his grandmother with chores, such as adding firewood to the stove and learning to make breakfast.
Although Mei Jian's cooking didn't taste very good, everyone was kind enough to finish it, which gave Mei Jian more and more motivation.
By the time it was time to go home, Mei Jian had already learned to cook several dishes, and his skills were almost on par with Mei Liang's.
Seeing that her youngest son kept his word, Mei's mother decided to discuss it with Mei's grandmother and father, as she also had to fulfill her promise.
Grandma Mei had no objections. Her grandson was usually very sensible, and it was good for him to come to Kyoto to study and keep her company.
“Our mother is so old, it’s too tiring for her to take care of three children on her own.” Mei’s father didn’t want Mei Jian to come to Kyoto. He felt that it was a blessing for Grandma Mei to live here. If Mei Jian came with her, what difference would it make from staying at home?
"Can you even do math? How did it become taking care of three people? Sisi only comes back on Sundays, and Meiliang doesn't have to go to school anymore, so he doesn't need me to take care of him. Meijian can cook for himself now, so I can benefit from that too, and I can have a ready-made meal every morning."
Grandma Mei glared at her son and said with a smug look on her face.
"It seems that Mei Jian still has to come over; he has to take care of you!" Mei's father looked at Mei's grandmother, raised his eyebrows, and said with amusement.
"That's right, from now on I'll live a life where I don't have to lift a finger to be clothed or fed."
The matter of Mei Jian coming to study here has been settled. However, transferring schools is a bit troublesome. When Mei Si transferred here, the school teachers helped with the process, and Mei's father didn't have to worry about it at all.
Mei's father thought that he would ask Mei Si's teacher about it when he got home in a couple of days.
Grandma Mei told Mei Jian that his father had agreed to let him transfer schools, which made Mei Jian very happy. He hugged Grandma Mei and gave her a big kiss.
"Grandma is the best! Grandma, I love you!" Mei Jian skipped out to share the good news with her sister.
"Oh, that's good." Meisi nodded, indicating that she understood.
"Sis, cheer up! You'll see me every week from now on!"
Mei Jian pouted, realizing that his sister's reaction was different from what he had expected.
"Ha! Ha! Ha! Mei Jian transferred schools, I'm so happy!" Mei Si, always obliging, laughed three times to show her joy at her brother's transfer.
"..." Mei Jian sighed, feeling that he shouldn't have asked his sister to share this joy; his sister's smile seemed too fake!
Mei Jian turned and ran to Mei Liang, thinking that his brother would be just as happy as he was.
"They agreed? What are your parents thinking? Grandma is so old, she still has to take care of you every day," Mei Liang said, frowning.
"You! You guys are really infuriating!" Mei Jian was so angry with his brother that his hand trembled as he pointed at him.
"Pfft! Just kidding!" Mei Liang couldn't help but laugh when he saw Mei Jian so angry.
He grabbed his younger brother's neck and vigorously rubbed his head.
"Brother! Let me go! Ouch! Don't mess up my hairstyle!" Mei Jian struggled hard, but he was no match for his older brother, who was already an adult, and could only let his brother rub him.
When the family went back, they didn't take anything back except local specialties. Now that they have a home here, they should at least leave a few changes of clothes here.
Mei Si had a long holiday, so she went back with her family. She had to stay at her maternal grandparents' house for a few days, and she hadn't given them the red envelopes yet.
When Mei's mother thought that her daughter would give her maternal grandparents a red envelope, she privately asked her daughter how much she planned to give.
Although Grandma Hao and Grandpa Hao are her biological parents, the Hao family has many members. If Mei Si gives too much, her sister-in-law and niece-in-law might not think so.
“I asked about the side leakage, and he said I didn’t need to give too much, just enough pocket money for my grandparents for a year. He told me to give them some every year.”
"Yes, Ce Lou's idea is good. Remember, when you get to your maternal grandparents' house, don't say how much money you gave your grandma. If they ask, just say it's the same as your maternal grandparents'." Mei's mother reminded her worriedly.
"Okay, sure."
"When you give your grandparents a red envelope, never do it in front of others. Give it to them privately. If they don't mention the red envelope in front of others, you shouldn't either!" After thinking it over, Mei's mother decided that it would be better for her daughter to give her parents red envelopes privately to avoid trouble.
As soon as Mei's parents got home, they went straight to work, while Mei's grandmother started packing the things she and her grandchildren were going to take with them.
Mei Liang then took Mei Si and Mei Jian to their maternal grandmother's house to pay New Year's greetings.
Mei Si was very obedient. She observed them for two days, and one late night when they were snoring, she secretly sneaked into their room, woke up the bewildered couple, and gave them the red envelopes.
Grandma Hao and Grandpa Hao groggily accepted the red envelopes, went back to sleep, and when they woke up the next day, they had both forgotten about the red envelopes from the middle of the night.
