Late 60s Alien's Daily Life

Alien Yeshi starved to death, yet miraculously came back to life. She arrived in a strange place where the creatures weren't very hairy, liked to wear a layer of "skin" on their bodies,...

Chapter 22: Rob

After dinner, Mei Liang ran out to play with Hao Yuan and the others, while Mei's father and Grandpa Hao went to the west room to catch up on their sleep.

After tidying up, Mei's mother carried Ye Si to the kang (a heated brick bed) and began teaching Ye Si to speak.

Coconut thought she was particularly smart today, as if she had an alien foreign language translator, and she could understand most of what her alien mother was saying.

Coconut thought it might be related to the "God of Learning Possession" that Old Xia gave her last night. God of Learning, God of Learning, it sounds very powerful.

Coconut thought that when she had some free time later, she would start a group chat to thank Lao Xia.

Coconut thought about how Lao Xia had sent that guy named Youzi a picture last night with the phrase "Possessed by the God of Exams." Could that picture have some kind of magical power? But what does "exam" mean?

“This is Grandma,” Ye Si said, pointing to Grandma Hao.

"Old Wolf." Coconut nodded, indicating that it understood.

“...It’s Grandma…Grandma!” Mei’s mother was not discouraged. She refused to believe it. How could someone who speaks so fluently suddenly become unable to pronounce the word “Grandma”?

"Grandma...Grandma?" Ye Si found it difficult to pronounce and didn't understand why she would choose such a hard-to-pronounce name.

"That's right! It's Grandma!" Mei's mother nodded repeatedly, praising her daughter.

“And what you love to eat is meat, rou-rou! Not you.” Mei’s mother remembered that her daughter always said “you” every day and felt that she should correct her as soon as possible.

"Right!" Coconut's eyes lit up, and she quickly sniffed, thinking that her mother was going to give her some meat.

"It's meat! You guessed right, so I'll give you some crispy pork." Seeing her daughter's longing eyes, Mei's mother immediately promised.

“Right…meat?” Coconut looked at Mei’s mother and thought that this “meat” was even more difficult to pronounce than “grandma”.

“Yes! It’s meat! Go, let Grandma get you some crispy pork!” Mei’s mother pointed at Grandma Hao, intending to let her daughter say it herself.

"I won't give her any. She's already eaten so much meat, I won't give her any!" Grandma Hao pouted, indicating that she wouldn't give Ye Si any meat.

"Grandma! Meat! Meat, meat, meat!" Coconut ran to Grandma Hao's side and reached out for meat.

"No!" Grandma Hao shook her head, unmoved.

"Say thank you, Grandma," Mei's mother taught her daughter how to clasp her hands in a fist and bow to express gratitude.

"Thank you, Grandma! Crispy pork!" Coconut Flakes bowed again in front of Grandma Hao.

When Grandma Hao saw Sisi, the chubby little boy, bowing to her repeatedly, she couldn't help but smile.

"Let's make it clear first, I'll only give you a few pieces. The rest are for your brothers!" Grandma Hao finally softened and got up to get some meat for her granddaughter.

Coconut rolled its eyes, thinking about how it could get a few pieces from Mei Liang, and also how it could get some spoils from the kid it defeated yesterday.

Coconut Flakes finished off the crispy pork that Grandma Hao had brought in just a few bites. She patted her belly and decided to postpone asking someone for more meat.

"Bang! Bang!" Firecrackers suddenly went off outside.

Upon hearing the sound, the coconut flakes immediately became alert.

“Those are firecrackers. People set off firecrackers during the New Year! Don’t be afraid!” When Mei’s mother saw that her daughter was scared, she quickly hugged her daughter, patted her back, and explained.

"Firecrackers? Chinese New Year?" Coconut was a little confused. This thing that sounded like a gun was called a cannon here? Why do people set off firecrackers for Chinese New Year? What is Chinese New Year?

"Shall Mommy carry you outside to see the world?" Seeing that her daughter was no longer afraid, Mei's mother wanted to carry her outside to see the world.

After thinking for a moment, Ye Si turned to look at Grandma Hao's expression and found that she was not afraid of the cannon fire outside, so she nodded.

It turned out that the people setting off firecrackers outside were Mei Liang and his group. Ye Si watched as they struck something and it started to ignite. Then they lit a red object that made a hissing sound.

Coconut craned her neck to watch them throw the lit object, and just as she was trying to get a better look, she was pulled into a hug by her mother and had her ears covered.

"Bang!" The firecrackers were even louder than when we were inside.

Coconut was startled and quickly turned to look for the firecrackers that Aunt Mei had mentioned. Coconut noticed smoke coming from a spot in the snow by the roadside.

Coconut Flakes: Isn't this the direction they just threw things from? Those are firecrackers? They don't look intimidating at all.

Coconut Silk immediately calmed down. She had thought it was some kind of large-scale weapon of mass destruction, but it turned out to be so small and posed no threat at all.

This time, when Mei Liang and his friends lit firecrackers again, Ye Si didn't let Mei's mother cover her ears anymore and just listened to them.

Seeing that her daughter was no longer easily startled by the sound of firecrackers, Mei's mother felt much relieved. In a few days it would be the fifteenth of the lunar month, and there would definitely be other families setting off firecrackers. Now that her daughter was no longer afraid, she wouldn't be frightened.

After holding her daughter, Mei's mother stood at the door for a while before preparing to go back inside.

"It's too cold outside, let's go inside! Hao Yuan, keep an eye on Liang Liang, he's too young, don't let him touch the firecrackers!" Before going inside, Aunt Mei gave her eldest nephew a worried reminder.

"Don't worry, Auntie! I'll put it away myself and let them watch over it," Hao Yuan assured her, patting his chest.

As soon as Ye Si entered the room, she subconsciously sniffed. She felt that something was wrong with the smell in the room. She turned her head and looked at the kang (a heated brick bed), and saw that Hao Xiaopang, who had just woken up, was eating crispy pork.

After putting her daughter on the kang (a heated brick bed), Mei's mother went to the kitchen to help prepare lunch.

Seeing that Hao Xiaopang was the only one in the house, and knowing that she could easily overpower him, Ye Si quickly stepped forward and snatched the crispy pork from Xiaopang's hand.

"...Wow..." Hao Xiaopang was stunned. He looked up and saw that the coconut shreds had stuffed the meat into his mouth. He immediately opened his mouth to howl.

"Don't shout!" Ye Si threatened Hao Xiaopang, glaring at him.

"You stole my meat! I'll get my brother to beat you up!" Hao Xiaopang was glared at by Ye Si. He turned around and found that there were only the two of them in the room. He immediately stopped crying and pouted, deciding that he would complain to his brother later.
