Ji Wan thought Zhou Zechuan was a light in her life. She willingly hid her brilliance and entered into a secret marriage with him for two years, content to be his kept woman. However, she didn'...
Chapter 286 Fishing Village
"You should be more careful." Ruize nodded and said he understood.
The two children ran back to Ji Wan. Ruize's stomach started to soar, and he gasped, "Mom, I'm so hungry."
Ji Wan pinched Ruize's cheek and said, "Then let's go eat something, okay?"
The children answered in unison, "Yes!"
Ji Wan took the children away, their backs gradually moving away. Chi Wenyan watched from behind a tree with a sad look in his eyes.
Ji Wan took the two children to a restaurant near the park and ordered their favorite food. Seeing the children wolfing down the food, he quickly wiped their mouths.
After dinner, Ji Wan took the children home. When he got home, he gave the children a bath, changed them into clean and comfortable pajamas, then put them to bed and told them a bedtime story.
Ji Wan's voice was soft and soothing, and the children gradually fell asleep while listening to her story.
Looking at the children's peaceful sleeping faces, Ji Wan gently kissed them on the forehead and then quietly walked out of the room.
Ji Wan sat on the sofa and a servant came over.
"Is the car ready for going to the fishing village tomorrow?" Ji Wan asked.
The servant replied respectfully, "It's ready, ma'am. As you instructed, the vehicle has been inspected to ensure there are no issues."
Ji Wan nodded. This time she went to the fishing village under the pretext of inspecting the development. Ever since she learned from Feng Hao that there might be news about Chi Wenyan, she wanted to go and take a look.
Now that spring has arrived and flowers are blooming, the road to the village is not so difficult to walk on, so she has to make this trip anyway.
"When I'm not at home tomorrow, you have to take good care of the children. Pay special attention to their diet and rest. There can't be any mistakes." Ji Wan instructed the servant.
The servant nodded quickly, "Don't worry, Madam, I will take good care of the young master and the young lady."
The next morning, sunlight streamed into the room through the gaps in the curtains.
Ji Wan got up early, washed up simply, and changed into a simple sportswear.
Ailan had been waiting downstairs for a long time. When she saw Ji Wan coming down, she greeted him and said, "Everything is ready."
Ji Wan nodded slightly, then walked towards the car parked at the door with Ai Lan.
The car started slowly. Ji Wan sat in the back seat, looking at the scenery receding outside the window, feeling complicated.
After a long drive, they finally arrived at the fishing village. As soon as the car entered the fishing village, Ji Wan frowned. The village was in a mess, with debris piled up on both sides of the road. Some fishermen were busy with their own things, but the whole scene looked completely disorderly.
Ji Wan opened the car door and got out. Suddenly, a crazy woman ran towards him on the road, her hair disheveled and her eyes revealed confusion and fear.
She was mumbling something inaudible as she ran.
A man was chasing her closely behind her, shouting, "Stop, don't run any further."
Before Ji Wan could react, the woman rushed towards her and almost bumped into her.
Alan hurriedly stepped forward and stood in front of Ji Wan to prevent the woman from bumping into him.
Ji Wan was startled by this sudden scene, but quickly calmed down.
She looked at the crazy woman and wondered what was going on with her.
"Stop grabbing me! I don't want to go back. Get out of here!" The woman was grabbed by the man's clothes and tried to shake him off in disgust. The man finally subdued her and said quickly, "The village chief told you to stay home."
The man was breathing heavily and was stunned when he saw Ji Wan and Ai Lan. His face was covered in sweat and his clothes were a little worn.
"I'm...I'm sorry, young lady. She's not very smart and I don't know how she ran out." The man said apologetically.
Ji Wan waved his hand: "It's okay, but what happened to her? Why is she like this?"
The man sighed, a trace of helplessness on his face, "Well, it's a long story. She wasn't like this before."
Before he could finish his words, the woman suddenly spoke, a strange light flashing in her eyes, and she muttered, "I'm going to find Brother Yan. Brother Yan must be waiting for me."
When Ji Wan heard the name, his heart skipped a beat and a bad premonition came over him.
He quickly walked forward, took the woman's arm, and asked softly, "What's the name of the person you're looking for? If it's inconvenient for you, tell me and I can help you find it."
The woman raised her head, staring straight at Ji Wan, and said without hesitation, "I'm looking for Chi Wenyan, he's my brother Yan."
When Ji Wan heard the name coming out of the woman's mouth, he was shocked. His eyes suddenly widened, and his hands unconsciously increased their strength. He grabbed the woman's arm tightly and asked, "What do you mean? How do you know him?"
When the woman heard Ji Wan's question, she just smiled foolishly and did not answer.
Her eyes were a little blurry, and she kept muttering, "Brother Yan, Brother Yan..."
Seeing Ji Wan's pale face, Ai Lan quickly patted her hands to make her relax. Ji Wan took a deep breath, turned her head and looked at the man, "I want to see the village chief, now."
The man hesitated for a moment. He looked at Zhao Ronger, then at Ji Wan, thought for a moment, and finally nodded and said, "Okay, then. I'll take you to see the village chief."
On the way to meet the village chief, Ji Wan's heart was in turmoil. Trying to calm himself down, he asked, "Has there been anyone with amnesia in the village recently?"
The man paused for a moment when he heard Ji Wan's question, then replied, "Indeed, there was, but that person is gone. I don't know the details very well. I only know that he seemed to be injured, and when he was found by the village chief and her, he didn't remember anything. He recuperated in the village for a while, and then suddenly one day he left. No one knows where he went."
The man pointed at Zhao Ronger and said, "She is the village chief's daughter, Zhao Ronger."
After hearing this, Ji Wan looked at Zhao Ronger again. He saw that her hair was a little messy, her eyes showed an indescribable confusion and chaos, and she mumbled some incomprehensible words from time to time. She really looked crazy.
Ji Wan was a little confused. Why was the village chief's daughter like this? Could it be related to Wen Yan? However, it was not appropriate to ask too much at the moment. He just followed the man and continued walking towards the village chief's house.
Soon, everyone arrived at the door of the village chief's house. It was a slightly old courtyard, a small yard surrounded by earthen walls, and a wooden door that was closed.
The man stepped forward, raised his hand and knocked on the door, and shouted as he knocked, "Village Chief, is the Village Chief here?"
After a while, footsteps were heard from inside, and then the door creaked open.
The village chief stuck his head out and saw his daughter at a glance, and his brows frowned instantly.
