Ji Wan thought Zhou Zechuan was a light in her life. She willingly hid her brilliance and entered into a secret marriage with him for two years, content to be his kept woman. However, she didn'...
Chapter 311 Sent to the Hospital
"It's still under operation. The doctor said it will take at least three hours." Zhou Yan replied.
Chi Wenyan pondered for a moment, "You stay here, I'll go out for a while." Zhou Yan looked at Ji Wan on the bed and hesitated, "Second Master, this young lady looks like she needs care."
"You can't take care of her in that situation." Chi Wenyan said lightly, "Auntie Shang Yunmin will be here soon, she will know what to do."
After saying that, Chi Wenyan stood up, took one last look at Ji Wan, and turned to leave the ward.
Zhou Yan had no choice but to wait in the ward and feed Ji Wan water from time to time, but she was in a coma most of the time.
As the night wore on, the sky in the east began to turn pale. Ji Wan's fever had finally subsided, and her dysmenorrhea symptoms had eased considerably thanks to medication.
At six in the morning, Ji Wan slowly opened her eyes and her mind gradually became clear. She looked around and found herself in a hospital ward, wearing a hospital gown.
"Grandma." Ji Wan suddenly remembered what happened last night and sat up abruptly.
Zhou Yan was dozing off to the side when he was awakened by her voice, "Miss Ji, are you awake?"
"Where is my grandma? How is she?" Ji Wan asked anxiously.
"The operation was successful. He is now in the intensive care unit and needs to be observed for 48 hours." Zhou Yan replied.
Ji Wan breathed a sigh of relief and wanted to get out of bed, "I want to go see her."
Zhou Yan dissuaded her, "Miss Ji, your fever has just subsided. You'd better rest for a while."
"I'm fine." Ji Wan insisted, slowly putting on his slippers. "Where is the intensive care unit?"
Seeing that he couldn't persuade her, Zhou Yan had to tell her the location, "It's on the fifth floor, but it's not visiting hours now..."
Before he could finish, Ji Wan opened the door and walked out. The corridor was empty and so quiet that only her own footsteps could be heard. She walked to the elevator and pressed the up button.
While waiting for the elevator, Ji Wan heard footsteps and whispered conversations coming from the other end of the corridor.
She subconsciously turned around and saw a man and a woman walking towards her.
The woman leaned on the man, staggering, as if injured; the man supported her carefully, his expression focused and gentle.
Ji Wan took a closer look and froze in place.
If it’s not Chi Lin and Ning Weiwei, then who else could it be?
Ning Weiwei had obvious bruises on her face and bandages on her arms, obviously having experienced a violent incident.
Chi Lin held her waist with one hand and put the other on her shoulder. His movements were gentle and skillful, as if he had done this countless times.
The elevator arrived with a ding and the doors slowly opened. Ji Wan remained standing, his eyes meeting Chi Lin's mid-air.
Ji Wan and Chi Lin looked at each other, and an indescribable awkwardness suddenly filled the air.
Ning Weiwei nestled in Chi Lin's arms, her eyes red and swollen, the bruises on her face glaring under the pale light of the hospital. She noticed Ji Wan's gaze and trembled slightly.
"Ji Wan?" Ning Weiwei spoke first, her voice weak. "I heard you came to the hospital last night. Are you okay?"
Ji Wan looked at her coldly without answering. Ning Weiwei's caring words sounded so fake to him.
A flash of panic crossed Chi Lin's face, but he quickly adjusted his expression, "Ji Wan, why are you here? Zhou Yan said you have a high fever and should get some rest."
The elevator door slowly closed, and Ji Wan pressed the button to open it again. She walked up to Chi Lin, her eyes full of coldness.
"Was rescuing her last night so important? So important that you took my car keys without even saying hello?" Ji Wan's voice was low, but he suppressed his rage.
Chi Lin held Ning Weiwei's hand tightly, "The situation was urgent at the time. Weiwei's ex-husband found her and beat her again."
"So my grandmother's life is not important?" Ji Wan interrupted him, raising his voice a few degrees.
Ning Weiwei's eyes flashed with uneasiness, and she tried to excuse herself, "Ji Wan, it's my fault. I shouldn't have called Brother Lin at that time."
"Shut up." Ji Wan said coldly, "This is none of your business."
Chi Lin frowned, "Ji Wan, calm down. I know you're worried about grandma, but at the time I thought you could handle it. I didn't know the situation would be so serious."
Before he could finish his words, Ji Wan suddenly raised his hand and slapped Chi Lin hard in the face.
“Pah.”
The sound was particularly clear in the quiet corridor. Chi Lin's face was knocked to one side, and a clear red mark instantly appeared on his left cheek.
Ning Weiwei screamed and held on to her shaking body.
"Ji Wan. Are you crazy?" she screamed.
Ji Wan sneered, his eyes as sharp as a knife, "Chi Lin, listen carefully, if anything happens to my grandma, I will never let you go."
Chi Lin slowly turned his head, a dangerous glint flashed in his eyes, but in the end he just wiped the corner of his mouth silently.
"You can go see her now. The operation was successful." Chi Lin said calmly.
Ji Wan took a deep breath, turned around and walked into the elevator, leaving Chi Lin and Ning Weiwei standing there.
Before the elevator door closed, she saw Chi Lin hugging Ning Weiwei and whispering comfort to her, and a complex emotion surged in her heart.
The elevator went up to the fifth floor, and Ji Wan walked straight to the intensive care unit. In front of the nurses' station, a nurse was sorting through medical records.
"Hello, I want to visit a patient, his last name is Ji." Ji Wan tried hard to suppress the anxiety in his heart.
The nurse checked the system and nodded, "Mrs. Ji has been transferred to the general ward, room 515. She just had surgery and needs to rest."
After thanking her, Ji Wan walked quickly towards Ward 515. Pushing open the door, she saw her grandmother lying on the bed, with a bandage on her head and her right leg fixed in a brace. She looked very weak, but her breathing was steady.
"Grandma." Ji Wan called softly and walked to the bed and sat down.
The old man slowly opened his eyes, his gaze was confused at first, and then gradually focused on Ji Wan's face.
"Wanwan?" The old man's voice was weak, but with obvious joy.
Ji Wan held her grandmother's hand tightly, her eyes slightly red, "I'm sorry, grandma, if I hadn't taken good care of you, you wouldn't have done it either."
The old man shook his head slightly, "Silly child, it's none of your fault. I fell accidentally."
At this moment, the door was pushed open and Chi Lin walked in with a large bouquet of flowers in his hand.
Ning Weiwei did not come with them, so there were only three of them in the ward.
"Grandma, are you feeling better?" Chi Lin put down the bouquet, his tone gentle, as if the argument just now had never happened.
Ji Wan frowned, puzzled as she saw Chi Lin calling her grandma. What surprised her even more was that when grandma saw Chi Lin, she actually smiled warmly.
"Xiao Lin, you're here." Grandma's tone was obviously more intimate than to Ji Wan.
Chi Lin walked to the bedside, skillfully took the cup of water from the bedside table, poured half a cup of water, lifted up his grandmother's head, and carefully fed her the water.
